Lead is banned in many places and you would also have to have the California Lead Warning Label on those sticks!!! Don't add lead just for the sake of getting a color closer. Lead is way to dangerous!!! Have you heard about the kids dying from lead poisoning in toys from TOYS'R US recently???!!! I will bet that the fish will bite on the junebug color with salt and sugar flakes. Just because Zoom or somebody comes out with a color doesn't mean you have to match it perfectly anyway. Maybe "your" junebug will be a better fish catching color than theirs...!!!! Stay away from lead though, that is not a good idea at all!!!! Jim

Would that be green olive or blue olive??? I think I have a match (or close) for the green olive at the house... Jim

Bought Pearl powder, but what do I do with it?

I have a color like that also Joe... A light watermelon with blue hi-lite. It has been a good sub for an Aaron's Magic color minus the oxblood.... http://www.ghostbaits.com/images/slamwormwpb.JPG Jim -
I bought the 2 part because they did not have the spray.. I used it last night and other than the fumes, etex is way better than the high heat enamel paint I was using. The paint needed long dyring times and had to be reapplied on my p.o.p. molds frequently. Devcon worked but took away a lot of detail even when thinned. Jim

Not patented Ryan BUT you just opened a BIG can of worms!!! In my opinion, if you make a bait of any kind, you are probably knocking off some kind of bait or baits... many baits may change a small part of a bait but a jig still has a head, skirt and hook. Cranks have hooks and and eyelets and mostly the same shapes. Plastics are, well, made of plastic and most have a close shape to others... Many have made baits better but usually have started out with some inspiration from another bait. That is just my opinion though...Others will and have disagreed .. Jim

Haven't compared them but M-F pearl white is awful tough to beat!!! Have you seen the M-F Pearl Blue Smoke color??? Have them add some in for you on your next order. A drop or 2 of black in with that color and WOW!!!!! Jim -

Remember too that there are a lot of colors out there pre-mixed with highlight already in them.. M-F has earthworm, crawfish, smoke pearl blue and some others... They make very unique, fish catching baits!!!! Jim -
I just sold over 5000 baits to a guy in Italy. Paypal was sent within 5 minutes of talking with me. He had no problem paying in whatever form I chose. Some are legit but I think the majority are just searching for your info to scam you!!! Hate to miss a sale though... Jim

They had it at Hobby lobby and Micheal's. Just so happens I did have the 40% off coupon as I was shopping some glitter also!!! Thanks guys!!! Jim

I have some of every size of these and have had a mold (out of p.o.p) for some time now!!! These bad boyz catch fish and BIG fish!!! The mold is for my use only and I have no intentions on selling any to anyone...Especially all the guys in my club who are jealous come tourney time !!!! Jim

Bob has made the 2 part beaver molds before...If you look in the picture area you will see a bait from the 2 part mold. There were issues with parts of the bait not filling even with injection. I have not seen anymore of those injected baits come out so I am guessing the issue was not resolved. Hand pouring those molds might resolve the fill issue and the air will have more time to escape!!! PS I have been hunting a chartreuse pumpkin bait to match that color. Anybody has a bait to send along, please do so and I will share the color formula with you!!! Jim
-
Nobody has a two part for sale on their site. You have to request a custom mold which will be a hurry up and wait scenario. IF you want 2 part, make it yourself or have somebody make it for you!!! Jim

Thanks Danny and all!!!! We just got a Hobby Lobby so I'll check there first... Jim

Can you buy it locally??? I have many websites to go to but would like to give it a try this weekend. Anybody getting it at a craft store or somewhere like that?? Thanks!!! Jim

For trailers on a jig, the "flat" sided beaver baits are very hard to beat!!! They glide a whole lot better and fish better in vegetation or wood. I saw a nice 4 cavity beaver mold on eBay that would not be bad to start with: http://cgi.ebay.com/3-5in-Beaver-4-cavity-fishing-lure-mold-not-aluminum_W0QQitemZ7228240420QQcategoryZ31691QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I am not sure about this mold but it would beat the $$$ for the aluminums and you can always re-sell it. 2 color or laminate baits are a challenge but to me they are much easier to pour in a 2 part mold.. Just my opinion though!!! PS Shows us some shakey heads!!!! I am always looking for something new to pair up with my plastics!!!! Jim

Lee production pot question (Now using it )
GB GONE replied to Predator Bass Baits's topic in Soft Plastics
I mix with a drill press. Bought the cheap one from Home Depot and set it up with my drill. I pour all the rest of my baits with pyrex cups. That being said, I am practicing with the Sta-warm to fill the rest of my molds that way. I am just so used to the cups it is hard to change!!!! Plus, I have so many true custom orders that I don't pour enough of one color to justify cranking up the pot. The Sta-warm is a good bit more expensive than a Lee Pot but the results are there also. I can leave mine cooking plastic for hours without any or much burn. I have been able to just dispense the pre-warmed plastic into my cups and pour from there. It saves a lot on the heating in the microwave. With more practice, most of my baits will come from the pot but I do enjoy pouring them by hand!!!! Jim PS I am using M-F super soft plastisol and run the big flake through sometimes with no issues.... -
Lee production pot question (Now using it )
GB GONE replied to Predator Bass Baits's topic in Soft Plastics
Tr21x....Give LC a chance to respond...I think everybody is aware that there seem to be "good" Lee pots and not so good ones. There are probably more posts than you want to read on that subject here on TU. I had a hard time adjusting to using my Sta-warm pot in making baits as well but I remember it taking A LOT longer to mastering baits poured out of a cup. I only use my Sta-warm for 2 out of the 15 baits I pour as I still have a hard time getting the plastic into smaller areas. I guess my thing is that practice will get you there but these pots will not make hand pouring baits into an almost automatic process. Not trying to offend but practice is the only way make the process more timely for any of us. I am sure that Brad from Pourboy's (and MANY others) could tell us some great stories about Lee Pots and getting used to them. I have seen, up close, some of the great work he does from those and other pots. Kim or Shawn from LC might be able to help you out if you give them a call. They have always been super helpful and quick with suggestions. Good luck!!! Jim -
While it is possible you have some "bad" flake, probably the temperature of your plastic is curling your flake. I have large black from LC, M-F and Senkosam and use much of it every night. I don't have a problem with it curling at all when the temperature is 300-320 degrees. I add my flake as you suggested, after you have heated your plastic up and are close to pouring. All that being said, I did receive some silver flake from LC a long while ago that curled when it hit the plastic. When talking with Kim from LC, I learned that most of the flake comes from the same source so it is possible both batches are bad. I would check the temp of my plastic first though.... Jim

Devcon does not cover as thin as the Envirotex but it does not need to cure in an oven. You can thin Devcon with acetone but it still covers some of the detail in the mold to me. Jim
-
Now that is mold making!!!!! DO you coat your molds with Devcon or Etex??? Nice set up Craw!!!! Jim

Lee production pot question (Now using it )
GB GONE replied to Predator Bass Baits's topic in Soft Plastics
I am stirring with a drill press now. Just bought the "cheap" $25.00 one and put my drill in. IMHO...The drill press doesn't work any better than my hand and a butter knife. I get good flake dispersion for all the baits. I haven't made more than one batch with salt though and I can run through 6 cups of plastic in less than 20 minutes because of my mold capacity. I think I still need a better paddle for my drill to get better mixing but my plastic stays perfect to pour at 300 or 280 degrees... Jim -

I had heard the complaints about the Lee pots and that is why I went to a Sta-Warm... Sounds like you need to ditch those and go to a Fry Daddy!!! Jim
