I don't know about everybody else but I am SWAMPED!!! As soon as I finish an order 2 or 3 more come in. For guys who have been pouring long, does volume traditionally drop off during the summer and fall or what??? I'm trying to plan some fishing time and I'm afraid I might just have to shut my website down for a while or suffer through spring with no fishing at all !!! Jim

Resin comes out great!!! Even if you spend $9.00 for a can of resin at wally world you come out pretty cheap!! The baits look really good also. I made bodies some for my fluke spins!!! Jim

I feel pretty sure that the recipes everyone have posted are for "uncooked" plastic..I know all the ones I have personally tried have worked great by following them in the posted amounts..before heating. The plastic does expand but, as Nova pointed out, it will contract when it cools in your mold. jim

Well, I had an issue with some plastic and not only did Del call me but April called me as well....I never had to call them!!!! (In addition 2 several emails that I received!) I was overnighted what I need without any problems!!! Everybody has a glitch or 2 in their service at times, I think if we looked at all the "good" responses vs the "iffy" responses...the scale would be tipped heavy in one direction !!! Just my 2 cents!!! (I have no stock/interest in Del-Mart molds, if anyone is asking !!) Jim

WOW!!! I just poured baits without salt or flake...

So does everybody soak their crankbaits with attractant??? Spinnerbaits??? Why are those baits so effective without scent vs plastics??? I guess I should start spraying them down OR get one of the hard bait guys to make me a bait I can cram a sponge up in !!! Jim -
Bassmaster University Notes (Nashville TN) as promised
GB GONE replied to Hwy-Apostle's topic in Fishing Tips
Dang Jerry...nice job!!! Now I'm going to have to get off my butt and put my notes together from the one I went to in Savannah, GA.. We had Mark Menendez, George Cochran, Davey Hite, Shaw Grigby, Ken Cook and last, but not least, Rich Tauber. Thanks for putting all that together!! Jim -

Remember...we were talking bass fishing only...AND pros who can detect a fish swim by their bait 50 ft away!!! I guess my big question is then why do fish hit crank baits and spinner baits...they have no scent, huge dangling hooks, and definitely no salt.. : Most times I can outfish anybody on cranks no matter what they are throwing because I have a feel for how those lures react underwater and what they are doing most of the time. Again, I think it all comes down to confidence in that bait and how in tune you are with it.... One thing is for sure, nothing beats a wiggling worm or a nice fat cricket!!! Jim -
I finally (almost) bought some of Chris's (Al's worms) baits

Well, I went down in a blaze of glory by having my web site address in the location. Someone had bid before I could change the auctions...Oh well, the guy emailed me and I sold the baits outside of Ebay!!! -

I point blank asked Shaw Grigsby, Ken Cook, MArk Menendez and Davey Hite about salt, bass attractants and scents in or on their plastic baits....guess what they all said??!!! They all said emphatically that a bass strikes a lure 99% of the time out of anger (and 1% or less of the time out of hunger!!) and will hold on plenty long enough for you to set the hook if you are an observant angler!!! None of them believed in scents as they pointed out, especially Ken Cook, the Fisheries Biologist, that by the time fish can actually "smell" the bait, it is in or already out of their mouth. He said "Its not like your chumming for sharks or something" !! Basically what they said was that if a certain scent or salt content bait gives you confidence in a bait, then keep using it because confidence catches fish....all the additives, salt, scent...catch fishermen/women!!! Jim...who likes to fish with baits scented and some salt!! -
Does anybody pour or fish with peanut butter and jelly color??? I think it may be a good color to fish in some of our lakes around here but don't see a recipe in the sticky nor have I seen a picture good enough to make some... Hmmm....this is making me hungry for a sandwich! !! Jim

There was a problem with the "contact us" area of Dels website!!! Try clicking on the mold design email area!! Del/April are awesome to deal with and never have had any problems at all. Your email must not be making it to them as they usually respond within a couple hour!! Jim PS April did tell me that they were moving the shop, maybe they are down for the day but I would be supprised if they have unhooked computers, phone, etc. all at the same time!!!

I'm with skeeter...put your time into your baits!!! Don't waste good money on patents, etc. It will just cost you more when you accuse someone of violating the patent, copyright, etc. Trademark might be worth it.. just my 2 cents!! Jim (Ghost Baits...not trademarked )

Poured some baits without salt or flake for the first time (Don't know why I haven't before )... I am just amazed at how easy it is to pour perfect baits without additives AND how much longer the plastic stays warm. I might start pouring more veins now!!! I wish so many anglers didn't need flake or salt. I wonder how the fish would feel about this as my life would be much better !!! Jim

There was a rumor about the release of cell phone #'s to telemarketers and also to publish a phone directory of cellular #'s!!! I know that in the State of GA there has been a law that is being considered to allow for the above to happen ONLY if you give written consent. If consent, in writing, is not obtained....fines and jail time result from just one attempt to skirt the consent!! WHen a telemarketer calls, I jusy keep saying "hello..hello...hello and then I say nice and loud..I guess it was one of those $%^ telemarketers but they must have hung up!!! Jim

4 mil....I've tried 2, 3 and 4. 4 just holds the scent best and doesn't let your baits "dry out". I do use 2 mil to send out "free" samples though as I want the good bags for the paying customers !! Jim
-
Hey...you better watch out "senko" sam....you are infringing on a patent, trademark or copyright with that name dude!!! Lucky your not a bait or we would have to rename you!!! LOL...
-
Flip a brush hog (creature bait) or sweet beaver type bait into the brush, let it sit there and just shake your pole tip for a few seconds....then hold on!!! You can also throw a senko or finesse worm (rigged with weedless hook) wacky style as these work very well during the spring.. Jim PS don't forget a good ole jig/pig combo!!!

True, Andre made a great design and the marketing for Reaction Innovations is really great (IMHO). Thats what sells a lot of their baits!! I like making baits but my intention was never to "steal" anyones profit, name or design...I just want to pay for my 5 gallons of plastic and have some baits left over to fish with !! If you have ever bought any Sweet Beavers, you would be somewhat dissapointed with the plastic as it tears up "when a crappie swims by"...If I was RI, I would be looking to improve my bait quality rather than warning others about a so-called patent pending on the bait. Mr. Moore never even mentioned the name and on the RI website there is no mention of "patent pending" or trademarks of any kind!!! Heck their website doesn't even have a little copyright deal on it for the pictures... Senkos are the best example I can think of that get copied day in and day out, with many bait maker saying "senko-like" or senko-style" bait. I have never heard anyone getting a letter or email from Yamamoto with regards to a patent...He just keeps adding colors and other styled baits to give the angler more choices and keep the customer!!! Maybe whoever came up with the process of injecting plastic baits should pursue all these bait makers for infringing on what I'm sure was initially a patented process.... I just think we should all go settle it out on the lake !!!!! Jim
-
Sweet ..Frank!! I have done a little research and even on the RI website the names are not trademarked!! I doubt they have patented anything..I wouldn't waste time with that myself...I would be out there searching for the next "great" bait design!! Jim
-
Cam: I'm with u....RI should learn a lesson and ask us hand pourers for info!! Rumor has it that one hand pourer is filling orders in the 1000's!!! Slick marketing is good (the chick on the bag rocks!!!) but what is inside the bag is what counts..they could take a page from us bait makers and continually try to make things better...but thats probably not cost effective!!! Man that Ozmo is one wicked bait...if I was a fish I'm not sure if I would eat that thing or run !!!! Jim

Hey bummer, Wally world will have tequila sunrise but I think I like your idea better !! Really you are looking at a laminate with black and a "pearl purple" color. If you see it, you will be able to make it!!!! Jim
