  1. Look at picture 37, notice closed screw eye and open screw eye? That should answer your question.
  2. 2 part epoxy + red pigment + glitter mixed and used I don't know what is that little cup (could be a powder measuring spoon used by pharmacists) as mold to mold the eye.
  3. Some automatic cameras just have a straight on flash without option for add on flash. If it is absolutely necessary to use the flash, covering the flash with a thin piece of paper, white plastic, cloth etc can soften the flash to usable levels. Like Delw said, digital only cost you the $ to recharge the batteries and time. Just shoot with diff setting until you get the result you are looking for. Don't forget to take notes so you can repeat. Else most software viewing programs can excess the exif information embedded in the photo, you can check your setting there.
  4. How does it feel to be the guy who usher in the New Year every year? The whole world is celebrating :tipsy:with ya. Happy birthday buddy.
  5. You guys are very much welcomed. The purpose of the site is to link lure makers with fish carvers and vice-versa. There is the same fishy similarity amongst the 2 And sharing the techniques does go a long way in pushing lure making to another realm. I'm glad there are like minded ppl who shares the same passion as I do. Lets all cut a few more fingers guys/gals
  6. For symmetrical weight distribution a hollow lure body has to have consistent body thickness. Controlling rotocast to achieve that is not worth the trouble IMHO. If you know how to make a mold, it's well worth it to just go for a multipart mold to get the hollow body with locking pins, transfer chambers and all the works as a further possibility. ArtBrush posted a multipart mold tutorial some years ago, not sure if it's still around. Try searching for it.
  7. For those who are interested in carving details and more advanced techniques in carving, you are invited to join and participate if you choose in a Carve-Along. Click here for details
  8. Very ingenious spider Pete, love it. I've seen woodworking centering jigs based on the same principle as your spider but with half the legs. The ability to go down parallel tapers in your spider deserves a patent
  9. Pretty static head and sinuous mid to tail action. To me it's a bit more snake-like than fishy but we'll need to let the fish be the final judges . Has it been field tested yet? (Question from a guy who don't see winter )
  10. Welcome to TU Huey. The "beetle larvae" lure is particularly interesting, can you tell us a bit more about it? Action, any special design features and target species?
  11. LOL Kahawai, email or YM me. Don't think my friend will appreciate me announcing his phone number to the world. Oh... offering me a bribe could expedite things too:teef:
  12. Welcome back Kahawai, still in Singapore? If so you've been fishing at the wrong place probably, there are big fishes there. It's not me in the pictures though:(
  13. You need to redo your list Cheese. You haven't installed any lips yet
  14. Just 10 more?!!!!!! :eek:You must be kidding Blades. If it's really just 10 sell me your secret please.
  15. Err... guys, Olympic is over; however I think the Paralympics is on now? Mark, you sure "painting under influence" doesn't belong in the Paralympics? mentally impaired category
  16. Here's my wish list for a top coat: self leveling long working time low viscosity to not trap bubbles thin enough to use as sealer too with CPES like properties when used with wood non yellowing (some UV inhabitant is needed I expect) crystal clear has to be waterproof golf ball kind of abrasion & impact resistance be enough for me. 8 would also mean the epoxy does have some flexibility to it, not brittle will not cost a bomb I'm still searching
  17. Mark, I do tend to give a bit more credit to end user opinions than a guy on a website selling the stuff.
  18. Nathan, I have read in a few fly tying forum about that epoxy and the common gripe is yellowing. With a fly's life span if they complain about yellowing then for lures might not be worth it.
  19. Looks like you guys will be real interested in Zalt Lures too. For the banana lure I did, I'm still trying hard to find some monkey fish
  20. Okay I can't resist anymore..., made this quite a while ago:lolhuh:
  21. Not worthy Diemai, I believe I only contributed one post to this discussion. It's your own effort in experimenting and sharing the results that is worthy:yay:. We need more lure makers getting their hands dirty instead of wanting to get quick answers.

    Copy of Triple Impact

BobP I believe the prop is positioned so that it breaks the surface a bit to provide for a bubbly froth as it churns. Frankly I'm not very impressed with the wide yaw (almost swinging the hooks parallel to water) of the Shimano Triple Impact. When I test fish them for peacock bass, a lot of strikes was missed because of that swing. Oh they don't cast that well either. However it does produce a lot of ruckus on the surface and can dive a bit if you want it to with rod tip position. But the beauty is you are making your own so you get the chance to get it to do what you want.
  23. FORE!!! Dang that was a 320 yard cast Gene on a no2 wood?
  24. Thanks and please is the basic code of conduct for a community like TU. I was refering to Pete's zen moment with my earlier comment.
  25. DSV, not idea what bit you are talking about, got a pic? (or model no.)
