Hi guys, I have been pouring plastics for about 5 years now about twice a week, and in that time have heard the stories of Pyrex / Anchor cups shattering in extreme temperature changes. I even experience this once when I used to pour in my garage in Buffalo NY in the middle of winter, and my hot pyrex touched some cold wet surface and it cracked. But this time was different: Today I was using a newer Anchor heat tempered cup and it shattered. We had actually emptied the cup already and poured the hot plastic into a metal vat, and the cup was just sitting on the counter for a few minutes when it made a loud POP and busted into a million little pieces. The air temp in the shop was upper 60's. And it was sitting on a dry wooden counter. I consider myself lucky that I was not holding the cup of hot plastic when it happened. I am going to get eye protection and heat mits this week. Be safe everybody! Josh K

Hey Guys, First of all I want to say that this is the best forum out there for this purpose. I learned how to pour molds and makes baits on this forum 5 years ago and what I started off as a hobbie has grown into a real business! It was never my intention to make a single penny, but my friends wanted some baits, and then they told their friends, and then.... =) Which brings me to my next question: Does anyone out there know of a place that will: a)Make a real injection mold for a large soft plastic bait (to shoot maybe 10-15 at a time) AND a place (the same place or a different place) where I can send that mold to to shoot my baits using their injection machine and labor and MOST IMPORTANTLY where I could send my formulated plastic to so they would use the same plastic I already do? c) My #1 Priority is to keep this inside the USA - I have had offers to make them overseas, but I could never bring myself to that level.... I'm really confident with the wealth of knowledge out on this board that someone out there will help me with this. Josh

I know this sounds like a stupid question, but what kind/type of plastic is it that everyone uses from Delw or Lurecraft? Is it PVC? What is the exact name for it? Josh :

Hi everybody, I am making BIG inline spinners and I need the blades to be removable. I use a #7 blade and I have tried the plastic "quick change" clevices, but I have lost a bunch of blades so far doing this. Do they make a metal removable clevice or a plastic one that can handle the BIG #7 blades? If not, do you have any suggestions? Josh

Ok, I know that there are many different kinds of brands of Plastic to use. what do you pros think is the best for dipping big tubes (8-10")? Do you think that dipping is better, or molds? Thanks again! Josh

I have been dipping some tubes and when the platic drips off and dries, what do I do with it? I heard that you can melt it and use it again... Do you melt it into fresh (milky) plastic, or do you melt it on its own on the side? I tried adding the chunky plastic to the already melted palstic and it just made the dipping material chunky, even though I was still heating it. Also, I was having trouble with the plastic getting chunky (on its own) while I was dipping. It was about 10 degrees outside in the garage, so I am wondering if the outside temp had an effect on the hot plastic, making it chunky. Any info would be great! Josh

My name is Josh and I am from Buffalo NY. I want to learn how to pour and cut tubes -- big ones, and multi colored ones. Something like a Lindy Tiger Tube, if you are familiar, only bigger and thicker. Maybe like a 9" tube. I would be willing to pay someone to teach me, either in person or with advice or maybe even by video. I am a fast learner, who fishes for big fish and wastes LOTS of money on tubes every year. Now it is the off seaon I want to learn to make my own and I am willing to pay. If you know how to do it, and do it well, please drop me an e-mail. trout_tapout@yahoo.com

I want to make the THIN SKIN type frogs, the ones that when the fish bites into it the hook is then exposed, so in essence it is weedless. All of the frog molds that I have seen are for the thick frogs that are almost like worms in terms of thickness. I want to develope a topwater lure, they have them in Bass Pro Shops catelogs and such, ONLY I want to make a very big one.

I was wondering if anyone here knew how to pour ther thin rubbery plastic that they use for topwater frogs and "walk-the-dog" type lures. How would I go about getting a mold made for these and how expensive would it be? Any info would be great!!!! Josh K
