i made some crankbaits and jerk baits out of balsa the smallest is 2.5 inches/3.5inches/4.5 inches iused 1/8 ounce finesse wieghts for the 2.5 in and 3/16ounce for the 3.5-4.5 in . imade about 20 baits just trying to experiment a little and to improve technique well i went saturday to a lake near by to see how they would do and had some bad results most of the lures did not have any action at all, they would swim straight but that was all i have used crankbait bills from janns and made some of my own from lexan , can anyone help me with a winning formula, i like using balsa because its easy to form but i found there are different grades of it some of it will hold up and some wont, iam trying to be as consistant as i can with size and weight any sugestions would great

if your looking for a different way to paint your lures and want to use airbrushes i would suggest looking at harbor freight they have two air brushes one is a single action it is just about the same as a badger 350 i think its about $9.00 item number is 47791 and there is a double action for $15.00 it is stock #1500 i wished i would have looked there first i bought a badger 350 for $59.00 they also have air compressors i seen a airbrush compressor advertised a while back for $69.00 hope this helps

iam trying to find out who makes crankbait bills like the ones in janns i have tried to make my own with lexan and cant seem to get the same shape everytime also i seen some post on homemade cnc routers a while back is anyone out there still working on this idea. i have been hooked on the idea ever since i heard about it. i know they said it might not work to good for cutting out cranks but i would still like to learn how to make one ,any help would be great
