  4. Just curious as to how long this forum has been around...it seems as if I am only able to view content back to to a certain year(02 or 04 I think)...seems like I read somewhere about the site crashing at some point and I'm wondering if that's why I'm unable to view certain "links" and photos from some of the older posts in this forum...

    Big O

Does any of yous make a Big O? I came across a couple that I believe to replicas....honestly im not sure if know an original big o from a copy but regardless these are pretty nice plugs.....they seem to be built by someone who knows what they are doing so I thought I would ask here despite it being a long shot...unfortunately the man I acquired them from had no earthly idea who made them...if you have built some replicas shoot me a pm so I can share pics with you...id like to know who the builder was just out of sheer curiosity.
  8. Thanks for all the input & suggestions fellas.
  9. Was curious if anybody would share a source for 1/16" thick 1"X1" square lips....I'm aware of LPO but for a 100 lips it comes out to about .49 a lip which seems high to me..I've bought some from hagens before which were somewhat cheaper in price but the size wasn't quite right... I have tried making my own but have not been satisfied with how inconsistent I am with making them by hand...if I had any sort of descent metal working skills I would try to build a punch of some kind.. I'd love to find a lip punch or someone who can make a consistent lip that might consider selling some cheaper than LPO...
  10. Seems like the "y" & "z" axis should switch places as far as knowing which is which. Lol I can't help but think of a coordinate plane with its horizontal & vertical number lines...thinking of an "x" axis (horizontal)immediately signals my brain to think that that the "y" axis should be perpendicular to the x axis. Are these axis you listed defined by TU or is there an engineering background behind them Vman?
  11. Hey skipper I've got a couple new 10 yard rolls of brite back silver foil tape....that's a lot of tape for just me...be happy to make you a fair deal on what you need.
  12. Thanks for the information and trying to help me out...I will adjust fire. I don't remember for sure but it seems like I may have hit em a lick or two with a blow dryer the other day when they were turning. I know I didn't lay super glue down on these because I switched the guts around on these when I made them just to see how the swim would be effected...wasn't expecting much out of em so I just slapped on that BS epoxy (I didn't apply it as carefully as I do with the top coat which I better stop doing) and let em turn in the garage while I started a new batch. I never can feel em or see them little holes until I lay that first white coat down which is the frustrating part.

  14. I sealed my balsa with bob smith 30 min with a few drops of D alcohol dropped in after mixing it. I brushed it on and let rotate for a couple hours. A couple days later I lightly sanded the plug prior to laying base coat with createx(this when I saw the craters). So I wiped off the createx and tried to brush on liberal amounts of zinnser bulls eye hoping it would fill the craters. As you can see in the picture the bulls eye didn't help so I've since taken the Bulls eye primer off the plug. I'm certain one of y'all have experienced this at one time or another so hopefully someone can shed some light on what the heck I'm doing wrong to get these "holes" in my seal.
