  4. etch prime is not clear. depending upon company it can be green/gray etch. if your shooting transparents theres no true magic bullet. .. baking a auto clear coat over transparents/candies will help. on plated blades I am referring too.
  5. if your shooting plated blades, use an etch primer. I shoot thousands weekly. save the grief from paint shed.. each process woods, plastics, metals all have procedures for best results.

  10. hi for my application on the great lakes. we have great water temp variances. guys here pull baits till ice up 32 degrees. thru time I have found theres not a lure that finish coats wont be breached from teeth/hook rash.. I have built baits in all species, some fail for density, some don't float, and some will not accept paints and hold on. every waterbody/region can send its own demands. as stating I guess theres no wrong/right as long as were building in our labs lol.

  13. stay with it. if youknew how much I have ruined over the years you would stroke out. every painter/lure maker has there days. I could heat a house with bad wood cuts or paint the Eiffel tower. . after decades I still screw up. but please remember ugly baits do catch fish. I have a few boxes of them
  14. vacuum plating will give best results on plastic lures. needs a topcoat though.
  15. red cedar. we build with cedar every day. dusty but very corky/lively action. accepts paints excellent.

  18. jake satonica the designer of grandma lures and the original jake now owned by drifter tackle co.. why not use lexan or aluminum lips if you need strength. just downsize the format. are you wiring thru or using screw eyes.
  19. a good white primer or lacquer prime . your primer will bite on and your colors bite to the prime. its like a sandwhich.
  20. perch. primer. base -yellow -school bus yellow. spray top half forest green. blk bars ..straight or v bars. . gold scale. remember observe scale mesh. it must be up and down pattern. scale from dollar store. mosquito headnet cut up to size.. shoot belly white or yellow again. . re-shoot black back. eye inset normally the belly color white or yellow. spay red throad and butthole. . dynamic gold paint for scale,or bright gold. that's a standard perch . cb used to come to my shop to pick up paintwork I did for lakeside for years. if you pm me I will give you my ph.number . 22. every lure we do build gets a actual water test 2 times. first for balance. then once completed they are swam at the marina for final testing. yes when folks spend hard dollars I want them to have a good piece. as pat28 stated we all want a magic bullet.. at 5mph we want the walk.
