  1. our resolve is a primer that bites. lacquer base. even a white lacquer spray bomb after wiping..even if the clears broken the paint should not peel off.. bob p is correct..
  2. I don't believe the myth theory. when storm was producing mag warts and hot n tots the plastics were harder ,plus as mentioned the rattle balls were better. we ran them 125ft on boards at 2.9ft to achieve 20ft of depth.in the day warts early morn then bomber 9-a series. they achieved 32ft. bomber rattle was a thud. wart rattles REALLYrattled.. on l.st clair we used the wee warts for walleyes, and the smallies inhaled them. remember tuity fruity guys.
  3. we ran warts on our charterboat on l.erie. the old w.warts were made of harder plastic. with the rattles they sent noise better then re-cycled plastic companies use t-day.. they caught tonnage of walleyes.
  4. wont work at all. been there done that.
  5. sometimes guys hurry the bait. if the paint underneath is not fully dry, etex will remain rubbery for months..
  6. most guys go lighter woods as cedars/pines. then they weight them according to action needed... funny with walk dog and casting musky/bass lures. most actions in the rod operater.
  7. try luremaking.com there in Ontario Canada. the cost will average out. ordering from them will save brokerage/shipping cost. your averages will be close. they are very reputable.
  8. dollar store barbecue lighter. refill it with a butane re-fill can.
  9. woods and density. if you want corky action, cedars, balsa. everything depends on the lures you make and action/flotation needed.. everything depends on what your building. when you get that dealt with theres the learning curve on how to buy lumber,grains/densitys etc.
  10. try a vacuum plater in yourregion. theres folks that plate plastics. years back we did rapala bodies for custom painting. they were sweet

    Wood Sealer

depending on the wood .sanding sealer. some use etex for sealer also.. do not use thompsons and ruin your lure bodies
  12. try the dollar store. they sell mosquito headnets. just cut that to size. excellent fine scale.
  13. great product. its about warmth it needs 70 degrees or its slo drying. we used that new lustre for a couple years. pricing is hi though
  14. awesome for beginning fer sure. musky the dark side lol.
  15. mark your correct. here in Canada there were changes mid 2013. formulas were changed for voc standards. lacquers are still very available in north America though.. the automotive industry in.. manufacturing went water base over a decade ago... one joy with laquers are you can use any topcoat over the lacquers. durabilitys not an issue as long as you use a good clearcoat over it... it is affected to blush in humid conditions though.
  16. many paint facyories produce lacquer primer. if not there try automotive bodyshop supply. lacquer primer comes in quarts to 5 gallon pails. normal cost is approx. 12.00 a quart. its also available in black/red primer brown. you need air ventilation but it cures in cold temps also. .. you can thin for spray or dip from the can. simple effective and forgiving.
  17. a-mac. over resin/pvc lures lacquer white prime is excellent. it bites to the bait. dry times are good 1 hr. you can then use any paint base over top. we use lacquer primer on all plastics/wood/foam bases.. I do this 8 hrs every day.
  18. put base color on. let dry. apply crackle medium, dry time 45-1 hour ..apply color coat. heat will expand crackle. put dots/artwork over. apply coats of epoxy. let dry. we have been doing crackles on musky lures forever that way.... years back crackle was lacquer based but voc compliance has changed painting.
  19. crackle medium. you can get small tubes at wal-mart in hobby paints.
  20. so cold here. saw a lawyer, with his hands in his own pockets. when will we get a break.
  21. as stated just paint over the existing paint.. if the lures hook rashed shoot white primer as small surface fill.

    G Finish

we tried years back. never cracked that one. pradco had that in there line up in the later 1980 era. problem was it came off very fast.
  23. diagnol cutting pliers. use the jaws to pry open. put pressure on the end of the bend jed.
  24. ok I agree small stuff will catch muskies no doubt.. most guys that target musky never use small as mentioned for musky. and 8lb test certainly not recommended.... yes plastics catch fish also. we use them here for walleyes. finnese minnows and average at least 1 musky a morning... my comments originallyare on the average musky lure. and yes if I could use balsa,or other durable lite woods awesome. we use cedar which will give corky action ,durability,is a major issue. guys here can catch up to 25 musky a day trolling...with all them teeth weee ha.. baits get chewed.. again reasoning for wire thru,as baits are pulled up to 5mph ,8 hours that can equal to 40miles per 8 hour day.but that's how I do it. im sure theres a zillion ways/factors and such.
