in the past i tried the aluminum paint. i had adhesion problems with flake and peel. what type of aluminum are you using.. for me i changed to silver leaf paint to get the effect, for my tennesee shads, . its all lacquer based. i hope this helps a little.
if you use combustible paints, solvents use a dedicated building, not a basement. this sounds negative, but pilot lites, sparks, very scary. please be vary carefull
i know stainless can withstand more. trolling baits constantly being pulled would wear out brass over time. stainless i believe will retain its shape better also.
heres how we do crackle. seal bait
primer.
base coat color.
dip crackle
let dry 45 minutes. then dip next color.
let dry.
apply clear coat.
crackle will crack to an individual way on each one. applying soft heat will advance cracking.
hope it works for you
for trolling like most do here on st clair. look at charters choice rods. they are the tigerstik blank. ugly and near in destructable. soft tips let ya know if theres weeds on your lure and a stiff mid section to butt. also eva foam. great for rod holders. cork chips
casting . i would use a 100lb braid. build your own floro leaders. trolling i use big game mono in summer. we use 50lbs and a 50lb floro leader.. remember to use a snap that gives complete freedom for lures to work best.. i have used duo lok with never a failure in 40 years chasin muskies.
hi there. have you tried a home hardware store, or try a rona lumber store. they carry both etex or new lustre . actually the new lustre factory is in quebec.
wook go with a oil filled compresser. you could use iy for everything. thats if you have a shop so noise is not a factor. as stated above a decent regulater and moisture trap. michigan has lots of humidity.. years back i had a sears 5hp scratch and dent. that baby lasted for 15000 hours run time.
hi guys making lures is fun. you can craft your own destiny. being a detroit lions fan leaves me great amounts of time,,,,seeing they never make playoffs.
