  1. See if your camera mas a macro mode, mine shows a flower and then you can focus your camera closer.
  2. For here it really not so much of a big deal now anything over about 15 is very nice. I will tell you what. trout lures make great search baits. On lakes that contain biger bass say(3-7#) and trout you can throuw the 9" castaic and when you get around them shey will follow it very often. Then you know to concentrate on that area. They dont all have to be giants, I have caught many 5+ the smallest was about 3# though, You can try the castaic bluegill also.
  3. did you just paint a tungsten weight or did you make the weight also. I personally dont thing painting the worm weight would make any differance. They look nice though.
  4. Yes Ca, and about every lake in the state has bass that big in it.
  5. Im shure everyone here appreciates you spending the time to post this info, thanks dtrs5kprs. Nice looking molds, they all look like they have good detail except the craw which im shure didnt have the detail to start with. Why split them? to me it would seem simpler to have 2-3 per mold unless you are making molds for others.
  6. Sorry but I could talk for hours on the 3 weeks that led up to that fish. I got one bigger all the way to the boat(no landing net) then lost another the next day. Then switched lakes and did real well to say the least. I switched up to the 12" castaic and the fish just kept getting bigger and bigger. I fished nothing but trout lures for about 3 months in persuit of big girls. This fish came from my lake X, (so dont ask) it was 12.5#'s on my scales and I trucked her to a friends house for pics then back to the lake to let go. I had 3 fish like that from there. and tons of fish in the 5-9lb range. We would catch fish 3-9# on the 9" castaic and way bigger on the 12". I could easily catch 6 times the fish using a castaic over the slammer. I had some fish on the slammer though. This lake was so hot i took my mom out fishing and have pics of her with an 8 and a 9 in each hand. I have not fished trout lures on a long time though. I will start back probably this winter when i move. Its not that hard to fish trout lures but you have to put in the time and practice and build up muscle and a strong back. I thought the 9" was work until i moved up. After you THROW a lure that weight well over 1# all day long then you know what pain is. The 9" is like childs play now. I cant tell you how many time i dropped to my knees on my boat and yelled when one of these fish got off. My fishing buddy came one time and i had one on about 16 and she came up and rolled and he never saw her. Its addicting. I had a shore fisherman take that pic and when I pulled her from the livewell he sh_t a brick and even worse, right there I walked inton the water and let her go, everybody was yelling at me,those crude meat fishermen.
  7. I am guessing you are making the loops on a wire former? YTou might try popping the pin out and cutting a slot(like a key way in it) for the other pre made loop to rest while you make the second loop. You should not run into leverage problems because as soon as you start reeling the bait should straighten out and if it spins when the fish hits its shure to twist your line more than foul the wire. If a fish is that big and wild to bend up you bait he will do it reguardless. I would not worry about it either way.
  8. You will find that you get alot more bites getting a trout bait down even a couple of feet. When I fish the biguns the slammer never came close to the castaic trout I used both sizes including the 12", that is one bad boy
  9. the easiest way is probably to see if you can get pre formed shafts that alread have a loop in the end then splitring them togather.
  10. You ever fish marina del rey? For the last 3 years weve been fishing the rock jettys at night and having great fun. Its about the only place you can night fish like normal bass. We used Arkie style bass jigs with any color grub but white was best and a piece of squid. Man-o-man we used to kill them. Som e nive bass to, we regularly got 5-7# calico's. The trick was to fish right up in the rocks, we would pitch jigs all night long till 3 am. We used to catch alot of batrays there also using squid and bluegill. I had one thet was about 100#. But pitching jigs was a blast. You got the disco boats comming around, you can see great. We would go through a couple of pounds of squid. As for your jigheadsyou could try drilling a pilot hole in either side then using a counter bore in the size of the pilot and eye and drill a recess. Thenb you would have to make a silicone mold.
  11. You making a spinner For shark? 40's big, 50's huge but .062 why? Has to be for muskies? Have you tried smaller wire?
  12. Sorry I read to fast, thought you said buzzbait arm.
  13. I dont think the arm is critical but Im shure the further back you put it without getting to close to the hook the better it will lift the bait. What I think is more important is to use .035 wire for ther bigger buzzbaits, choosing a better head design(like stanleys) and using a balanced center type blade. On the ones I like the arm to the head is 2.75", the height is just a hair over 1" and the blade arm is 2 5/8 including the rivet bend straightened. And the blade arm is set back aprox 3/16". try to stay away from 1/2 bizzers. 3/8 works wery well and lets tou really slow the bait down.
  14. Most who would have 1000 sampo sqwivels make their own baits and im shure would not need what you are selling. Much less giving you swivels at cost for your marked up merchandise.
  15. I dont believe you can solder to SS wire. I dont even thing you ca braze it, but if you could the heat would shurly distemper the wire badly where you heat it.
  16. I have no idea whay they are greyed out, i tried to resize again and repost but still came out grey. If you click on them they come up in color.
  17. well I tapped all the holes from the outside so I can set the depth of the sprue rods and i also drilled thr rods and beveled the ends so i can glue un a small piece of .050" wire. I am planning that they will only extend about 1/16" or less. Here you will see a 1/2" x about 4 1/2" plate installed inder the sprue formers to form a trough connecting all the sprues(recomended by Rich). (Rich)I shure this is not exactly what you meant but i put the sprue formers on top. I can always make a thicker bar and just have the 1/8" rods come through and connect to the lures. I also picked up the silicone so this week I will make a mold.
  18. http://cgi.ebay.com/Wax-Injector-Ring-and-Jewelry-Fabrication-GREAT-COND_W0QQitemZ8914129431QQcategoryZ10323QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/wax-pot-wax-injector-casting-dental-mold-clamp_W0QQitemZ8912969235QQcategoryZ10323QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Im talking about this kind of pot. Like I said I have just been poking around looking at jewelry casting equip and have seen a few of these pots go cheap. I have no real interest right now to doing plastic. I had a mold made about 1 year ago and was looking around and I talked to del, and bob's and 2 or 3 other places. My mold lure are only about 5/8" long and I think the mold holds 16, It would take me all day to use this much plastic. I have a 50cc glass syring for that. I just thought some of you others might find this type of pot may better suit you.
  19. I believe this is about the same idea as you are thiking. http://www.tackleunderground.com/board/kb.php?mode=article&k=42
  20. Ya, i talked to Del a long time ago and he told me about the little presto pot at walmart for like $20. I bought up the wax pots becaue they seem more industrial and, are pressurized and you couls easily add a stirrur.
  21. I personally like the quick change skirts because they do not dry out and have the band break or go weak.
  22. You should look on ebay they show terminator Heavy T spinnerbaits in 1oz+ but are supposidly discontuned I used to use the nightbaits alot and they were way worse than the normal willows. Ive had the blades fall of in less than an hour fresh out of the package. It really tick me off, fish are biting and everything is going well, then bam no vibration. I have had the willows do it also. I called terminor after about 3 lost their blades just hoping they would send me 3 hole blades. But no they want you to send them in. When my supply is gone there will be no more Ts for me.
  23. Im not into the plastics but in looking at casting equipment, have you guys looked into pots used for wax casting? most are able to pressurize, They lack a stirrer. I bet you guys could have a hole grilled in the top even if it was a glass lid and mount or epoxy a gear motor for a stirrer. Just thought I would share. I have seen a few cheap on ebay and they look very nice. They are used for jewelry casting
  24. You should not have to preheat the silicone like an alum mold. Just dont have it cold. I would have the mold about 80 deg F and maybe pour 1 time full of plastic if you are worried then do a real pour and throw your first bait back into the pot.
  25. When Terminator cant get $6 for a spinnerbait that the blade falls off of or $1 per silicone skirt then they will be released. I personally dont think the titanium makes the differance. Alot of bass are caught on spinnerbaits within the first 1 foot of the lure hitting the water and very often on the fall and it is hunger and reaction that provoke the strike and not critical vibration only magically held in titanium. I have about a dozen terminator without blades going back to them and I will not be buying more. You could heat treat SS forms so hard that you would have trouble bending them and get the same affect.
