  1. Here is a link to my bait dryer I built yesterday for my finishing. Nothing special but it works great. YouTube - Lure Dryer go4bas
  2. I have both and used the Badger for the last two years. Just bought the Iwata Revolution for $88 at a local supply store with a 3.5mm tip. Wow, what a difference for fine lines. Iwata all the way. Parts are also much more plentiful nowdays. Badger is having a hard time getting dealers and I am tired of sending my Badgers in for fixing. The internal seal can only be replaced by the manufacturer. go4bas
  3. Funny...I am building some Bagley II replicas for a friend of mine. People really love these baits. I am building them with true through wire and weighted bellies. I hear the reason for all the hype is that they can be fished in the same water as a spinnerbait when bass won't hit a spinnerbait. I hear calm water use this, windy..use a spinnerbait. My friend is willing to pay $25 each for them when completed. Not hard to make but balsa is a pain to work with since I normally use basswood and pine. P.S. I still get air bubbles in my top coat because I cannot seal the baits well enough. One reason why I hate balsa. WHITTLER: CAN YOU SEND ME A PIC OF THE INSIDE THAT YOU CUT APART? I WOULD REALLY LOVE TO SEE IT AND COMPARE MINE TO IT (MY LONER WAS NOT TO BE DAMAGED)! GO4BAS

    My 1st Finished Lure

They other guys are correct in the posts to your lure. I did the same and probably everyone who ever built a crankbait has too. I do like your design. Very unique and looks like a big 'ol hawg would eat it up if it ran correct. Try to smaller bill and maybe even square it a bit. this will give a much tighter wobble and still dive nicely. If you are patterning a frog, they only dive around 2~4' anyways and tend to dart straight forward in the water with not much side to side action. Keep it Up! You'll get there before you know it. go4bas <}}}><
  6. I personally like the Createx Autoair colors but they are pricey. The standard line will do most bait combinations on the market. I have used a lot of different types of paint such as vinyl, powder, enamels, etc. Nothing is as easy and forgiving as Createx. (my opinon). Here are some ideas to concider: 1. Watch your airbrush...keep it clean! clean between coats and color changes. This will make things much better. 2. Try to work between 20 psi and 30 psi. Regulator and dryer is necessary (when humid) 3. Mix your createx with 4010 reducer at 25%. 4. Work in at least 55~60 degrees F. 5. Don't over apply the blends...the final appearance will be enhnaced w/ epoxy coat 6. Work with Transparent colors, I dont particularly like the opaques except for black, white, yellow 7. KEEP LISTENING TO THESE GUYS/GALS...THEY ARE FULL OF INFO!! Hope this helps and hang in there...it is worth the effort. go4bas <;(}}}><
  7. Thanks, What do you thin it with and which type of Devcon do you use? I presume you are talking about Devcon Epoxy. Thanks!
  8. I am looking for a good hard self leveling basecoat for wood baits that I have been carving. They look really nice but I still get the grain showing and dont like sanding too much. Any ideas?? Thanks!
  9. I am looking for your input on a few questions: 1) What is the normal process for designing and making a custom lead mold for new jig heads, spinner bodies, etc. 2) Is there anyone out there who does custom cnc machining for our industry? 3) How do we automate this process for large quantities if we desire to do so? 4) What is the machinery required and costs for such items? I know this is a tall order but surely I am not the first to contemplate this. Your input is very much appreciated. go4bas <}}}><
  10. You had me going. My eyes were just about to well up in tears thinking about my dog I lost last summer. Then it was just over a sweatshirt. I don't know now if I should be upset or laugh. Anyway...Great Story! I enjoyed it very much. go4bas <}}}><
