I have purchased 4 molds from Collins, I think he makes a great mold. I had good service from Shawn but havent purchased any molds in roughly 12-18months. I am sure the word of mouth is catching up to him. I also agree that if he doesnt have time for the new business he picks up he should be upfront about it and keep his name clean. I am just happy to have some of his molds. Also, the molds that I have gotten from him are lead slab spoons (jigging spoons). I have since started using some of the guys on here for there spincasting efforts. I have been using George Reeves now for going on 9 months I believe. I commend him for his service. The baits that he has made for me have made my job much easier and I am pleased to work with George. Makes a fine bait as well! I recently over the past couple months have also started working with Chuck from Tight Line Angler Products on a few molds and baits. Awesome mold work and good communication. I am not a big business, but my business is growing and I really do like the fact of knowing that my casting is for the most part taken care of by these two gentlemen. I may be a little weird by using both guys, but I like to have a backup for things I do to protect my business, just good business to me. Thanks to this website for helping me find these guys!!! I appreciate George and Chuck. I hope things workout for Shawn and he gets things going good for you guys as he is a great mold maker.

Chad, I dont know anything about this company, but I ran across it once while doing some rattle research myself. Maybe they can help you out. http://lurerattles.com/

Funny, you bring this up cadman. It is in the upper 30's outside right now. I am fixing to go turn the lead pot and heater on in my small shop. I need to go pour a few hundred baits myself. But I too would rather pour now then in the summer. I hate July/August when its over a 100 here. I normally wait till 10pm and pour at night when it is around 80. Still not much fun. I have also had more success with pours in the colder weather.

Big D, that top lure is made with a holographic/chrome sticker. I bought that particular vinyl roll on ebay. It was sold by a consolidated seller who purchases items and resells. The vinyl was used by a lure manufacture, the company was Luhr Jensen and Sons out of Oregon. I was very pleased to get my hands on that stuff. When you look at it straight on it looks chrome, when you tilt it you get the holographic effect that is really cool on it. The vinyl itself is somewhat easy to work with. It is thin, but doesnt work well with the bends in lures, like some holo materials do. I ended up just getting me a die cutter to cut my stickers out as I do so many of them. It can give them a better look, and they are all alike. Here is another picture of that same material used as on the top pic,but slightly tilted. It has lots of bling, bling to it. I love it on the Stripers, Sand Bass, and Hybrid Striped Bass. This other pic is of a fun lure to use. Its a skinny slab, similar to the flee fly slab on its build. But I made it with what all customers seem to ask for char on one side/white on the other with a red head on the lure, and some like silver holographic. I just put all the requests into one lure. I call it a Psychedelic Minnow.

Well I need to get better with my pictures, I learned this fall to take them outside and they come out better, just haven't done many pictures that way of late. George, your already helping me out a lot, this website is how I found you. That 3rd picture is of a bait I will be sending to you soon on casting me some up. I appreciate your help on the 1oz ones your doing for me now. Cant wait to get them finished up. Thanks guys, hope to be on here more often now. I owe this site. Its a great place to learn new tricks.

It has been quite awhile since I have come back here to the TU and posted. I have been making jigging spoons/slabs over the past few years and have started a small side business in making my baits. I have enjoyed reading on here and using the techniques to help develop my products. I owe a lot to this website, and need to start giving back from time to time. I am still not as good as the talent I see on here with the airbrush, but for my type of baits I have done a pretty fair job. I have enjoyed researching holographic tapes, etc. To find stuff that has worked for me and my application. I just wanna again say thanks to all that post on here and share some of my lure work the last few years. This place has been great in meeting others in helping make my hobby an enjoyable one. Happy Holidays to all. Bryon Nolan of TNT Slabs!

looks nice what kind of paint is that powder paint?
-
neat idea, i like it. I also use the christmas ornament holders for dipping my spoons in paint. The work great, and you can get them real cheap right now.
-
walmart paints, i just add a lil more water test if it doesnt shoot add more air pressure if no good still add a lil more water and retest. The tip does clog often if you dont keep using it. And I have noticed that some colors better than others, I like the neon walmart paints for my spoons they seem to work great. Oh and with those paints I have air pressure from 35-60lbs then again I am still learning this stuff though.

these two lures, by the way may favorites rat-l-trap and shad raps had taken a beating by the sandies this past spring. The trap was down to its foil, and the shad rap had lost most of its color. Dont know if i went about it right, since I usually only paint jigging spoons, but i dipped these in vinyl white paint and airbrushed with createx/wal-mart acrylics. Still getting the hang of the airbrush business but it is a hoot and lots of fun, oh and also trying to figure out how best to take pictures of these.

thanks to everyone for their kind replies, no i didn't carve these lures i made them from a shad spoon mold sold thru barlows tackle in texas and poured with lead. Made a variety of colors to test the areas around here with. Oh by the way i field test these every chance i get, and have found that they do work well. When the fishing is hot i have caught fish on them that have no paint just the lead and silver hook.

thank you guys for your praise on my baits, i saw the other mold as well with the eyelet on top. I have used another slab bait with the eyelet on top called a sidewinder and at times it is one hot bait for stripers and sand bass.

I posted these pics in the hard baits forum and didnt ever notice this wire baits forum, lol. I am fairly new to making jigging spoons and just started using an airbrush this past month. I am going to post a few pics, let me know what i can do to improve my baits if you should have any suggestions. Thank you.

Everytime I get on this forum I see a bait that is truly amazing. Excellent work. Seeing how you made those scales gave me some ideas for my own lures awesome. That piece you made looks a lot like the tools made at hardware stores for putting glue down for tile or flooring. I will have to look at them again next time in hardware store they are made out of plastic. Just a thought though. Again nice work.

I have a question for all who may have painted with vinyl paints or anyone who may have any suggestions. I am dip painting jigging spoons in white waterbased vinyl paint through components systems. I am wanting to add some detail, stripes on the back with an airbrush for a nice added effect to the jigging spoon. I have not purchased my airbrush but I think it will be the Paasche VL. Was wondering if I use the createx paint for this purpose, I like the choice of colors and the ease of getting this paint, if there will be any adverse effect on the white vinyl water based paint. I plan on clear coating dipping in clear vinyl waterbased paint by component systems. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreacited.

I am new here and I am really enjoying all the tips and tricks of the trade. I am new to lure making and really find the decal work very impressive. I was wondering if anyone has tried the decals on jigging spoons made out of lead painted with white vinyl paint. If nobody has does it sound like it may work using the decals for gills and small fins the surface is so flat and smooth sounds like it could work great if it can adhere to that kind of surface. Any responses would be more than appreciated.
