  1. T, What part of Cincy are you in ? I'm in your area and if theres anything I can do to help out I'd be glad to.Mine baits are'nt quite as refined as Skeeters but they're not bad.Shoot me a PM w/your e-mail and I'll shout at you.
  2. Not toobad for you're first one. This is a hard ? to answer and not hurt any feelings.Did you seal the bait before painting? It looks a little rough or porous. Also it either looks like your paint might have been a little thin or you were holding your airbrush a little yoo close in order for it too run like that.Try holding your brush a little farther away and applying lighter coats until you reach the effect you desire. This will help with blending two colors together. These are just my opinions and I'm sure there are a lot of other guys that may be able to give better tips than me.You may want to take your pics on a white or lighter colored background also.Keep pluggin away your on the right track.
  3. Thanx Muskie but I'm actually looking for some tips for bass. This is our club classic and we only target them.I've never seen the lake and was just looking for some general tips about the lake.Is there shad-alewives, will the fish be in the backs of creeks this time of year down there, a couple good colors. If you can come up w/that pm me,any help will be appreciated.I'm leaving Thurs. nite.........Thanks
  4. Etex sounds a whole lot like the one product I've had my best success with. What I have tried is called Finish-cure 20min.Its a waterproof epoxy that gives a longer working time.I can usually get 10-12 baits out of one mixing.Comes in a set of 13oz. bottles. It has a slight elasticity to it when cured (you can dent it with your nail if you put some pressure on it) but it seems to hold up well and I have'nt seen any bad signs of yellowing. I just was'nt sure if it was strong enough to last over a long period of time.So far (2 yrs.)the baits coated with it still seem o.k..Thanks for the repies,I did'nt know if I had to re-think my clear coat situation.
  5. I have posted on a couple different sites requesting info on Loudon. Anyone on here from Tennessee? I read a piece about fish per acre and Loudon was in the top 3. I've got a club tourney there real soon and this is my last ditch effort.I Live 250 miles away and dont think it'll be a weekly thing for me.LOL Any help would be deeply apreciated...Thanks
  6. I've see Etex mentioned as the prefered clear coat for some on this site.I've been using other products and am not real happy so far so can anyone tell me a little about it,where to get it and pros and cons if any....... I have been doing this for a awhile now and never seem to stop learning something new. Thanks
  7. I bought a can of Pelucid last year.A guy I know sold me on it by taking a bait and throwing it on his driveway several times without scratching it up.( I know ,sounds too good to be true)Here comes the but, I transfered a small amt.in to a small mason jar and when finished using it covered the top with cling wrap before placing the lid back on TIGHT,and placing it in the fridge. It still set up on me.plus I had some problems with the paint running on me with ONLY certain colors??? Mostly reds and purples.I was painting w/oils at the time so I switched to acrylics and SAME THING.I has a real high gloss and seems like it is plenty tough enough and the fact that it is one part was great.I use a product from a hobby store called finish up,or finish coat for clear coat on boats. The Pelucid works fine over another epoxy, but why would you need to do it w/2 different products? Its not real expensive so give it a try maybe you'll have better luck.

    Glitter

I've tried a couple kinds of glitter and it always seemed a little coarse, except for a product called diamond dust and it was so fine it looked like powder, if you just kind of sprinkled it in the air it would just float down real slow.Man did that stuff make a mess.I'll take a look at what SenkoSam has and yes there is a Micheals right up the road,I'll check them out too.The spray glitter sounds interesting but it sounds like it takes a little practice.Unless I wanted to make an all glitter bait.Oh no,dont get me thinking crazy thoughts....Thanks Guys

    Glitter

Would like to try experimenting with some glitter again but,I have a few ?.What kind works best?,where do I get it?,and do you feel the glitter through the clear coat?also at what point do you add it? It seems to me that a very fine glitter added to the clear is what is mostly used. Thanks
  11. If anyone subscribes to BassTimes you probably seen the article about our fellow bait builders.Good exposure for them.I'll just keep on trying and hopefully someday something like that will happen to me.You know how your never satisfied.
  12. CaptainHooks like Green Acres is the place to be.Good prices and quality, what more could a mother ask for.Sorry to all you young guys for the Green Acres.
  13. Thanks for the input.I had been epoxying my lips in b-4 painting and it just had'nt worked for me to my satisfaction.I'd have to tape off the bill and then take it off b-4 clearing but, then even with blue tape there would still be some residue on it that would have to be cleaned off.I'll try ya'lls advice, especially with the hemostats. Thanks for the tips
  14. It seems that a lot of guys on this board set their lips after the bait is finished.I have always put mine in b-4 priming or painting and taping off the bill.If you are setting the lips after all is done how do you keep from busting out the clear coat (finish) when re-opening the bill slot? It seems like this way you would wind up with a lot cleaner and professional looking job.
  15. If you are interested in a CNC try checking out this site.positivelow.com..Great little machine, but a little pricy for just cutting bills. You may want to see if anyone may be intrested in making some for you,if you can send them a model.Or Harbor Freight sells a real nice 12 ton pess if you can get a die cut at a machine shop. This too can run into some serious cash though.
