  1. Update: Crocus Blue is sold out. Thanks to those that have purchased powder so far.
  2. Are you looking for something like this http://www.barlowstackle.com/acb/showprod.cfm?&DID=6&CATID=59&ObjectGroup_ID=195. Tip up jig mold? If not you can make your own
  3. I'm referring to the pour spout and the base. There is only 3-3/4" clearance. If I had at least an inch more, my spinnerbait and buzzbait mold with my wire form in them would fit in much more easier. The Lee pots don't have that. I am going to build an extension which will help solve my problem.
  4. You are correct, it could definitely use more clearance. I do not have problems with the spinnerbaits, however I think there was a problem with the bigger buzz baits. I would have to check. Also I have the Ultra-Minnow spinnerbait and the Keel buzz bait molds and both of those I pour straight soft lead because of pouring issues. With that said I use a hot pot for those as it is easier to use.
  5. Korey, I don't have an RCBS melting pot, however I have heard a lot of good comments about their product. I use a Lee IV bottom pour pot. I have 3 of them, and for the money they are workhorses. I have one going on 7 years and still pours fine.
  6. Glad your OK. I have had some drops occasionally splash on me. Tell you what it hurts like you wouldn't believe. Makes you think and pay attention more for sure.
  7. Hawn, I have a feeling I know who you are talking about as well. It is sad that a person can not live up to his dead lines. If you can't meet your deadlines don't take orders until you can get caught up or hire someone to help you out. It would be nice to let everyone know who he is, but that is so wrong in so many ways. Many guys know who he is and yet they continue to go to him. I have heard that if you get a mold it is flawless like EironBreaker mentioned. But how long does this have to go on. His quality is excellent, his prices are not cheap, but he can not deliver, doesn't return phone calls or e-mails and if he does ship it's so late that most guys just cancel or are just plain p****d off at him. That's a hell of a way to run a business and treat your customers. I bite my tongue every time I want to buy a mold from him and I have not yet. I guess like someone mentioned depends how much money you have tied up in this. I guess if it were me, I would sue, reason being is that this will continue until he finally gets slapped in the face. At this point it may not be about money (maybe yes) it's about the principal of the whole matter. Let us know what happens.
  8. UG, Thanks for the lesson, as you see I'm not a hunter. Good info. BBK, sorry for misleading you.
  9. You could sell it to me! Yes you can use shot, if I am correct I do believe lead shot is very soft. So go for it. I have yet to find any lead I can not pour. Some is more troublesome than others but if you know what lead works with what molds you will have no problems
  10. Hawnjigs, Is that painted? If so very nice.
  11. Are you going to have one custom made? The one Hawnjigs posted does work really well.
  12. Shawn, Yes a bottom pour pot will be much easier for jig molds, however you will have to finagle the wires a bit under the pot. You can also get cheap lead at the scrap yard.
  13. You will get a lot of responses on this. Take all this information and do some experiments. What works for some may not work for others. Pouring lead is an art which is unique to each individual persons pouring technique, along with heat and lead composition. With that said, depends on which spinnerbait you're pouring. This is how I pour my spinnerbaits. I live in northern IL, and it is about 26 degrees today. I get the best pours on all my molds in the winter. I've established that with the fluxing I do and the dry air in winter, my pours are flawless. Spring , Summer and Fall are another story. If I am pouring my Ultra-Minnow spinnerbait , I only get full pours using straight soft lead. This is the only time I use straight soft lead. On all my other spinnerbaits and jig molds I pour 70/30 or 80/20. The bigger number being hard lead and the smaller number being soft lead. This works for me on every other occasion. I like my jigs on the harder side. Now all this info to you will only be reference, because I'm sure you and I have different set-ups, different ways of pouring and different skill levels. The more you pour the more you will find out what works for you. I hope this helps. Now c'mon guys let's here your take on this.
  14. You used to be able to buy them direct to any color you wanted. However you have to buy a run of a 1000 or more of one color I believe. Otherwise it's not worth their while.
  15. Can you tell me what (size) oz cavity you are looking at and what size hook. I have the hooks and the mold so I can check for you.
  16. I never had problem with Devcon 2 Ton (DT2), damaging anything.
  17. Sorry guys here are the specs. Gear ratio......... 5.3:1 Ball Bearings..........8 Weight................9.63 oz. Line Capacity lbs/yards 6/150.........8/105..........10/80 Left hand or right hand retrieve
  18. Hi Guys, I have (5) identical Pflueger spinning reels which I’m selling. These reels are about 8 years old and have not been used the last two years. These were my walleye reels, which a couple of years ago were replaced by brand new ones. They are all boxed and in excellent condition. They have all the instructions, carry bags, extra spools as shown in the pic below. They are used and have some scratches on them but are in excellent mechanical condition. I would like to sell them all together but will separate. Each reel is $25.00 plus shipping/ins to the continental U.S.A. only. If you buy all (5) I will pick up the shipping/ ins. For inquiries outside of the continental U.S.A. please PM me about shipping rates. Once bought items are non-returnable and no monies refunded. Please PM me if interested.
  19. No problem, I'm glad you came up with the same observation (solution) as I did. All answers help newbies take in the whole picture and learn.
  20. I think what you are experiencing by doing that is you are heating the hook. By heating the hook, and putting it in the mold, you are now allowing the lead to flow around the entire hot hook. There are no cold spots in the mold. The process you found is common, especially on cold days and is used especially on bigger hooks. I put all my hooks in the winter time, on a black tray, and put a 100 watt light bulb over the hooks to keep them warm. Many guys put them on a hot plate to keep them warm, you can also lay them on top of the flat part of the pot to keep them warm. As far as sooting hooks and molds, I personally do not do this. I do not believe this helps, however that is the way that I do things. If it works for you then by all means keep doing it. You will find that as you pour more and more, there is no one way to do things. You will find that what works for you may or may not work for someone else. Also remember that all of the help you get here are only guidelines. We are all guessing at what a problem is we are not there with you to see what you are actually doing or what is happening. Some info will work some of it won't. However like you posted, please always give everybody feedback, so we can all learn from the newbies toall of us seasoned(stubborn) pros.
  21. George, 7/0 will fit no problem, 8/0 will fit with some modification. Both of these are Mustad 32786BLN hooks, I don't know about any other hooks.
  22. I'm going to say that #4 on a Lee IV bottom pour pot is not hot enough. You have to keep it on at least #7. If it's really cold out in my garage I put it on #8. I think what's happening is that your lead is cooling way too fast before it gets into the mold. Also at #4, your mold is probably not hot enough to let the lead flow. Crank it up and watch your troubles disappear. That's my suggestion. Let's hear what the rest of you guys have to say.
