  1. TJ, I saw his thread about 10 threads down and contacted him. Thanks
  2. Thanks for all the info guys.
  3. With that said, attached is a pic of the craw I had poured as a sample from someone on this site. Ther is a top view and a bottom view of two colors. I want to say Monte SS did this, but I am not sure. By looking at the pic is that pic the BTS 702 craw? Also the size of the bait in the pic is 3.75" long from butt to claw. One last question, and that is, if I buy a used mold is there anything I need to know, not to get burned buying the mold? Thanks Again for all the help. craws.pdf craws.pdf craws.pdf craws.pdf craws.pdf craws.pdf craws.pdf craws.pdf craws.pdf
  4. According to a plastics guy I know, I am looking for this mold number. Can you guys tell me where I can buy this mold, and if it is better to buy new or used. This guy is going to inject these for me , however he doesn't have the mold. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  5. Can you post a pic? I can possibly make them, however I need to see a pic. If you can't upload it here, than send me a pic via my website, or I can send you my e-mail address.
  6. Lot of guesses here: **Mold not hot enough **Lead not hot enough **Pre-warm hooks before you put them in the mold **Air trapped in mold, gap mold halves For easier pours, get yourself some Drop-Out. It is like cooking eggs in a Teflon pan. They just slide out. I'm sure other will chime in with more suggestions. Welcome to TU
  7. There are a lot of good threads out there. I have broken many, as I seem to tie very tight. I now use Coats and Clarks Upholstery thread. I have never broken it yet. You can buy it at Michaels or Jo-Anne Fabrics. Comes in white, black, beige, brown, and olive.
  8. I mostly use black nickel for everything I make, unless it is not made in black nickel, then I will use bright nickel. I really don't think it matters either.
  9. Like gaspumper mentioned there is not a mold that has just a 1 oz cavity. Are you looking for a mold with multiple 1 oz cavities? If so you will have to have it custom made. Why do you not want the one Do-It makes in 1/2, 3/4, 1 and 1-1/2 oz? You can realistically only pour one cavity at a time.
  10. Close is a relative term. If you want colors to look like Pro-Tec colors, then you need to buy Pro-Tec powder, or do what I did and have your colors custom matched. Different monitors and different pictures do not always match to what you will get. I've been down this long road, and unless you are willing to be real flexible on color variations, do some trial and error on your part, it is always best to stay with the manufacturer you are familiar with. JMO.
  11. Depends on what kind of jig. On jigs with recessed eyes sockets, I use either 2d or ed stick on eyes. On round jig, I use a small q-tip and then a small pencil eraser. Many people use different size wooden dowel or nail heads as well.
  12. Wow very nice. So are these jigs hard plastic or are they made of plastic you use for worms and craws?
  13. If you get the correct % of bismuth and tin, you will have less breakage and better painting capabilities. You must do trial and error to get this, as I cannot give you that info.

    Lee Pot

You really can't burn lead. However it can get too hot. When lead is too hot, it turns a gold color with a rainbow effect on the top. You can still pour it. One thing you do not want to do is let the lead get so hot that it will boil. The vapors are very harmful to breathe, however your pot if it is a Lee IV should never get that hot. The popping sound good be the pot heating up. I keep my Lee IV on #7.
  16. I do some similar steps like Rayburn Guy. However I do not use denatured alcohol to thin my epoxy. I use it as is, 50/50 mix of epoxy. Mix thoroughly and then apply with a small paint brush. I will also lightly run the jig over a heat gun, and then brush on the epoxy. By doing this, it will also dissipate the bubbles.
  17. Definitely a keeper. I too have back problems. I have to cut down on tournament time to a 6 hour tournament, because my back can't take all the standing. I am sure it will only get worse as I age. Oh well.
  18. VMC hooks are very high quality. My personal opinion is that VMC hooks are better quality than Mustad. However, you will have nowhere near the selection of hooks as you do with Mustad
  19. Very cool Chris. So how did you cast all 39 lbs of lead at one time? Please tell us your secret.
  20. Take a look at fishingskirts.com. They have a lot of colors and their prices are very good. If you don't see a color that you like, send them your skirt tab, and they will try to match it. BTW Welcome to Tackle Underground.
  21. There powder is good no issues. I have used it an it works just as good as any others out there.
  22. I sent you a PM. Call me
  23. Matt, I got the pics. Thanks
  24. I use the Gami 604 hook recommended by Do-It, and the heads come out perfect. I have never used the Owner 5318 on this mold so I can't give you any feedback.
