  1. Yes if: You could buy .078 or .060 straight pieces of Teflon? If the glue would hold from the high heat temp of the lead? You would have to drill a hole in an 1/8" (.125 ) piece of rod. This would be challenging considering the small diameter of the rod, and also trying to get the hole in the center of the rod. Everything can be done, it comes down to labor cost. For a one piece or two piece application, I currently have some tape rolled around the end of a a .078 diameter drill bit shank, and it has worked fine for my application. Would be nice to have 50 pieces, so I wouldn't have to stop and take the same pin out of every jig, when you do 50, 100 or 1000 jigs. Very time consuming.
  2. By all means let us see what you have. I'm not in this to make money, as there is not a big market for this. I'm just trying to help guys out, by making a one piece pin, instead of taping drill shanks and steel rods and so on. This is not an idea that is going to make me rich. Pricing is relative, when you buy small quantities, price is high. Even at $1 each, I think the price is too expensive, but I know what I want and I can design it, it's just I don't have the machinery to make it cost efficiently.
  3. This is what we are all talking about. Majority of all Do-It molds that take a weedguard, normally have steel pull pins that are used, or you can use the teflon ones you can buy separately. These are all 1/8" in diameter to fit the weedguard hole in the molds. Now many guys do not want to use a full weedguard, they might want to use 15 strands in their final jig. So if you decide to use less strands, it would be nice to have a smaller hole already in the jig head, so when you go to put the smaller weedguard in, it won't flop all around in the big weedguard hole that we normally have. Also the smaller hole would center the smaller weedguard in the jig head. So this is where an 1/8" pin, with a turned down end will make life much easier for those guys that want to do this. See attached picture.
  4. According to Do-It, use .040-.041 I use .040. The choice is yours on what you are building and for what species of fish. Bass you could go .040 musky and pike you can use probably use .050
  5. Smalljaw you and I are on the same wavelength. Like your idea, I was thinking the same thing, where you might have to grind off some of the turned down end to fit multiple cavities, as the turned down portion of the pin might hit the hook shank first, leaving some lead past the weedguard hole. However this wouldn't be the end of the world, as you could just cut that portion of lead off, or customize a pin just for that cavity. With me going to steel, it would be harder to cut down or file. There are a lot of trade-offs with these pins. I was also thinking about a spring loaded pin, which we use in sheet metal template set-ups. I have a lot of options I am thinking of, problem is affordable cost......................Stay tuned.
  6. Yes it would be a standard .125 diameter pin, turned down to .078 at one end.
  7. As I find out more and more about this, as much as I want this to be made out of teflon, for one it would be almost impossible to turn something on a lathe that small. So I also found that steel would be the cheapest alternative. With that said, I think the price point is high, and that is at 1000K quantity.
  8. I have a question for you guys that pour lead. This comes up quite often, so here it goes. I've had many guys come up to me and asked if i would make a reduced pull pin, similar to one of the current threads running. So, I've looked into this and the price I got from a machinist was $2.00 each. This is a metal pin .125 diameter turned down to.078 +/- .008. I would put these up on my website. Would you as a consumer pay $2.00 each. All good and bad comments welcome. Please no profanity.
  9. I will tell you this, I have had many issues with Stamina before they were bought out, and now that they are a different company (LPO), I give them 95% of my business. Reason being is this, any items not in stock, they let me know and backorder them and tell me when they will ship. They have never charged me additional shipping for a backorders. They have rarely charged me for special orders. If I want a sample they have always sent one out to me. There customer service is second to none. Now some of you may disagree with me, and that is fine. However like mentioned here, if I order a product from your catalog, and you don't have it why is that my problem. Yet I understand that you run out of stock and you will get more. So if that is the case, tell me you are out of stock, and then when the item is available, send it out to me, and don't charge me an additional shipping charge. What's with that. Have the decency to call me, and ask if I would like to wait 2 weeks or whatever, and then you will send it out . It is my choice if I can't wait or want to order it somewhere else. I've had many times like others mentioned here , had an order shipped, never got a call about a backordered item and then the order was shipped without an item, and oh by the way, now I have to re-order and pay shipping all over again. That is why I deal with LPO exclusively. No B.S. no drama. They tell me the way it is and I make my own decisions. I will not deal with businesses that can't accommodate me and those that know me ,know that I will go out of my way to get what my customer needs. My rant is over. This is just my opinion.
  10. Yes it does have the largest veining along with gold and copper. However it all depends on which brand you buy. There are textured veins, mini-veins and reverse veins. A lot of options out there. I personally like the large vein, as it really stands out.
  11. Derek, What you need for what you want to do is a turned down piece of rod stock like smalljaw mentioned whether steel, teflon, delrin, or the tape idea. This will always put your through hole in your jig head always dead center, as the larger stock diameter material will hold the entire pin in the mold tightly. Now if you have a drill press or a drill, and you are very careful, you can use a piece of Teflon or Delrin which is harder and chuck it into the drill press or cordless drill. Turn them on, then take a piece of steel and slowly shave off the material. As the drill turns, it will keep it concentric. Shave off as much as you need. Finally something that might be faster, it use a piece of sandpaper around the Teflon or Delrin, and with some care you can sand down the larger rod to a smaller diameter. You can do this if you take some time and be careful, naturally it would be more accurate to have someone make these for you. Let me know if you need more help.
  12. Derek you lost me about the hole sizes. You have a std. .125 teflon pin, and you want to use 7 -12 strands of weedguard material to put into the mold centered in the head. So why are you opening up the hole with a 5/32 (.156) drill bit. It is making the .125 hole even bigger. ?????? Did you mean 5/64" (.078)? This is what I would do if you don't want to have rods turned down by a machinist. Find the correct size hole you want in your jig head. Then get a piece of stainless steel wire to that diameter. Now cut yourself up a bunch of these 2" long. On one end of the wire wrap tape around the wire close to the spot where it will be up against the head but not into the cavity. Wrap enough tape, to make it around .125 diameter or a snug fit so it doesn't fall out. Once done, your hole which will be in the center of the head will be the correct hole size like the pic below. I hope I understand what you are trying to do and what I wrote is correct.
  13. Welcome to Tackle Underground. I have been doing business with fishingskirts.com for about 7 years and there have been times when I placed orders and I have had a similar experience like you mentioned. I am not going to post anything more here on line and bash them, however PM me , and we can discuss this. I can give you a scenario of what I think is going on and I will give you the owners name. All I can say is give them another chance.
  14. Devcon 2 Ton (D2T) 30 minute or you can use E-tex (Envirotex) which is a bar top epoxy. E-Tex is clearer than D2T

    Question

Teflon pins are the way to go. Also do not bake the jig with the teflon pins in the jig. You can also pour with the teflon pins. You have a PM. BTW welcome to both of you to TU.
  16. Well, all of you that can fit your wire form backwards, you are lucky. I spoke to Do-It about the possibility of doing this, and they say the underspin wireform was designed with the opening towards the back. So I guess my mold was made the way that it was designed even though I think the opening should be towards the front. I would modify the mold, but if I do that I will have to open up the opening where the wireform sits, and I know the way the heads are poured, the lead will seep into the wireform loop and fill with lead. So, I'll use it as is. Thanks for all the help.
  17. I also am not a fan of the plastic "Y" weedguard on any jig. Now as far as swim jigs go, I don't use a weedguard at all, if I do it is maybe 5 or 10 strands max to keep the fish from throwing the jig. There is really no need for a weedguard in this application. JMO
  18. Try McMaster Carr. They will have everything you would probably need in all grades of stainless. If you don't like coils, you will have to get it straightened from a wire or spring shop. http://www.mcmaster.com/#304-stainless-steel-wire/=10u7liw
  19. I can tell you this, that all molds aren't all made identical. These are sand cast and I believe that LimpNoodle got a mold that just happens to be able to use the wireform either way. Mine only fits one way, unless I either modify the mold, or kink the wireform. We'll see how all this goes.
  20. Thanks for the pic. That is interesting mine don't fit that way at all. You have a PM
  21. Hey guys, I haven't forgotten about this. I'm still working on this with a chemist. Once I find out more info, I will update everyone.
  22. Yes I received mine as well, and its nice to see that they are carrying more items. Hope they expand their Do-It molds as I use quite a bit of them, especially when the new ones come out.
  23. Yes, I am going to redesign the clip. I was the one that started the discussion about reversing the clip. Someone here told me that they were reversible, and now having the mold, that is not true. The wireform only fits one way and that is with the cut out in the back. In regarding to this statement "also if the form had the 89 degree bend option another 90 it would work as a form for those wanting to make shake it jigs." I am not sure what you are trying to convey. Pm me this information, do not post it here, or we can discuss via phone.
  24. Ok guys, I have someone looking in to making these wireforms in bulk packs of 1000 for a really good price. I cannot disclose who it is until they are up and running with them. In the mean time I need several thousand of these. Does anyone have a source that has a really good price in bulk, that I am not aware of. Please PM me with any info you have. I will keep you guys informed once the wire forms are available.
