  1. Thanks, but I bought several thousand of different sizes when Shorty's sold his stash. So I'm set.
  2. Cheapest I found them at one time was .75 each. Way overpriced is a better choice of words. But like they say if you don't like the price don't buy them. LOL
  3. Mark, Yes, someone did post on how to make screwlocks, however they were not with the centerpin if I recall correctly.
  4. No it has not. You cannot make and sell these. However you can make and trade, as long as no monies is exchanged. That is why Shorty's had to pull all of their stock. On another note, the centerpin screwlocks from Owner, are way overpriced. That's probably why someone made a knock-off cersion.
  5. TJ, I picked up quite a few bags of the centerpin screwlocks in the small and the large size when Shortys sold out their stock. Yes they could not sell them because of patent infringement of an Owner product. With that said, the smallest of the centerpin screwloc diameters is (.193 diameter). This will definitely not fit in any but the biggest of Do-it jig molds. I have to look, but I thought there was a guy making smaller ones that fit in the 1/8" weedguard hole. I will look into this and contact you guys if I get any info.
  6. I as well would ise a 1/8 " drill bit. Tape it in place and start pouring.
  7. I modified a bullet bass jig to accept a wire keep. Pretty easy to do.
  8. Ing, There are two ways of making in line spinners for molding. The first old way was like the Erie Derie. Where you cast the wire into the mold, and then all your mechanics were in the back of the head. The newer way on some through body spinners is with a thru wire. If you are buying the Lure Body mold from Do-It, then it comes with three pull wire (pins). However these pins are kind of small. I like a handle on my wire pull pins, as it give me more leverage. You can make your own with the correct diameter stainless steel wire. I found stainless wire seems to pull easier through lead than steel wire. Now as far as casting goes, this is what I do. Put the wire in,and as soon as you pour the lead, pull the pin. Reason being is that if you wait till it hardens, the steel pin is very hard to pull out of the head. Also you will find that doing one at a time is a lot easier than trying to do multiples. I have never had a cavity wire hole collapse on me when I immediately pulled the pin. Lead cools too fast and in this case that is good. As far as lead composition goes, to me harder lead works better here, as soft lead wants to stick to the pull pin. Also make sure you coat the cavity with a release agent and you can also spray the pull pin, however the spray on the pin doesn't last long from the friction of pulling it constantly through the lead. Finally, remember to pull the pin with the head in the cavity it makes it a lot easier then taking out the head and then trying to pull the pin holding the head with your hands. If you need more help let me know, I've done this many time with the lure body, slip jig lures, trolling lures and some river weights.....Good Luck

    Nathan

Hey Nathan, Get well soon and heal up.Hang in there prayers sent on a speedy recovery.
  11. You can try E-tex (Envirotex Lite) as well. It is a two part epoxy it will keep your white colors the whitest, however it is not as hard (in my opinion) as D2T (Devcon 2 Ton).
  12. Hey Ben, I use a small wood coffee stirrer to mix my epoxy with no problem. However I use Devcon and E-tex. I can tell you that when I mix it vigorously, I do see small air bubbles in the epoxy mix, but when I brush it on, it is as clear as glass when it cures. The other thing is that I only do painted lead jigs, some up to 2 oz., and never any issues. I can tell you guys this that temperature in the room has a lot to do with how the epoxy behaves. To me the warmer it is in the working area, the better the results. This is just some of my experience with epoxies.

    Swim Jig Molds

There are many hooks that will fit that mold that are flat eye. Naturally the Trokar hook, Mustads 32796, 32798 and its Eagle Claw counterparts, along with Gamakatsu hook 5941 and 614. Mind you these are not all heavy hooks. I know the trokar is the Gami 5941 is and Mustad 32796 is.

    Swim Jig Molds

I don't want to offend anyone in regards to the statement I made about the EWG hook, but that is the biggest complaint about that hook design. I found a sweeping hookset works for that type of hook. PM sent.

    Swim Jig Molds

Like Smalljaw mentioned, I personally like the Poison tail and or the Snootie Jig and or the Pro Swim Jig molds by Do-It. On the Poison Tail if you don't care for the EWG style hook a round bend Mustad 32886 or Eagle Claw L3886 version will fit in there nicely. Also Gamakatsu makes a hook that will fit in that mold as well if you like a stronger hook. People probably would not use a Snootie jig as a swim jig because of the 60 degree hook eye location. However I use it 90% of the time and it works for me. Finally the Pro Swim Jig to me is a take off of the Snootie jig other than it takes a Trokar hook and it is a flat eye hook. The best way to find what works for you is to try these out, and find what suits your fishing style. I know many guys don't like EWG hooks, reason being they miss hooksets. Using that hook takes a different hookset when you fish it and many people don't want to adjust and blame the hook for its design. Good luck with your choice.
  17. I believe Lakeland or Hagens has some. Also if you can't find them lacquered, you can do that yourself with D2T or E-Tex. Note lacquered blades will be slightly heavier.
  18. Yes that is kayserlure info. Best to call them and get current pricing. The other place that I and apdriver mentioned was fishingskirts.com here is the link http://fishingskirts.com/fishing-skirts-categories/boss-weed-guards-screw-locks It seems by many, that fishing skirts.com weedguards are easier to install because of the way the base of the weedgurd is fused, however I use kayser, since they are cheaper, and I insert the loose strand end in first into the jig head, then come back and cut the fused end. It's all relevant on what works for you. Also fishingskirts.com only has medium and heavy weedguards. I prefer the light (.018) weedguard. However you can achieve this as well, by not putting so many strands in the hole. Lots of ways to skin a cat and get what you want.

    Spoons

I spoke to one of my customers that salmon fishes using the stroke method, and he uses LPO spoons as well. I asked him why, versus other brands or premade ones, and he said that flexibility is the key. You can paint them any color you want to match the hatch, and you can put whatever hooks you like on your spoons. Finally, the cost difference if you lose one. With that said, since you custom make your own tackle, if it were me, I would go with the LPO spoons.
  20. The pic looks like the old style push on buzz bait skirts. with the molded collar in the front of a flowing skirt. I use buzzbaits pretty often, and I like to wire tie mine, because of the skirt slipping down the jig head collar. Since you can;t fine that style, I would send your skirt color to fishingskirts.com and they will match it for you in a flat silicone skirt. Just hand tie the number of tabs on the head and you are done. Your pic is hard to see since it is so small.
  21. Try Kaisure Lure in Ursa, Illinois. You have to buy 1,000 minimum of one size and one color. They come in .018, .021 and .024 stiffness. Length can be anything you want up to 1.875 long. Call them at 217-964-2110. You will need a tax I.D number, or add 10% excise tax to your order. No website 2nd cheapest place to buy them would be fishingskirts.com in Kinsale, Virginia 804-472-3509. Go to their website and look at their product.
  22. My preference along with others now is Eagle Claw. Unless there is a hook that Eagle Claw does not make or have a size of, I will then go back to Mustad. You can't beat those Eagle Claw prices though.
  23. Molds from Zeiner's and everything else from LPO. LPO will usually go out of their way if you need a sample of a hook to check mold fit.
  24. If you are looking for Gami's, they make a flat eye thicker hook as well. i don't know the number off hand.
