  1. Hey Nova, I use a little more than 4oz of plastic, probably closer to 5oz, 5 caps softner,1 cap stabalizer and about 7 tbls salt, desires colorant and glitter for whatever color I am making. With that, I get 20-21 5 inch stix. That uses every bit in the cup. I use Bob's molds. I'm not sure if there is a difference in Bob's and Del's. I do cut off the caps after pulling the baits from the molds and remelt back into the original formula.

    Scent

Do you guys put your baits in some kind of container right after pouring to help keep the scent in or do you lay it out on a counter or something. My baits smell great right after pouring, but not as good the next morning prior to packaging. I always add a little to the bag also. They smell great for a while afterwards.
  3. I get about 21 5" stick from just over 4 oz of plastic. 18 for 80z seems low. Are you cutting off the cap at the end and reheating it.
  4. Anyone fishing with Bob's Split Tails? I was considering purchasing a couple of the molds, but wasn't sure which one to buy, the 3.5" or the 4.2". Also I wonder how my customers will like them, say, compared to a beaver. Which one are you guys using? Are you pouring them with or without salt? Alot of questions, huh. Thanks alot.
  5. I'm just curious, but how many of you that have beaver molds are still pouring them and how many got rid of thier molds. I personally have sold a few of my beaver molds and taken them(the beavers) off of my web site. I still pour a few for personal use.
  6. jmik26, how do you order from your web site. I would like to order some skirts and possibly some Psycho tubes. Have I missed it somewhere on your site. Please send me an email.
  7. I think I read on this site a while ago that when you put scent on after cooking that the baits(especially those with salt) absorb the scent, then later when put in water releases the scent back out. Is there any truth to this. How would you be able to tell if it did. Just curious. I put my scent on after the baits are in the bag. It seems to work for me.
  8. I too used to have a problem filling the flappers on my beaver molds( I was using Bob's, not Dels. Both are good. ) Bob told me to make sure I had a steady flow but not too much. What was happening when pouring too fast was it was actually blocking the hole to the flappers. It took some practice, but now I have it down. Occasionally I still get some that don't come out perfect. Also when pouring, get a steady stream and don't lift the cup between baits. Just continue pouring and move from one bait to the next without lifting. Line your molds up in a line and just keep pouring. That should help some with the build up around the pour spot. Hope this helps.
  9. Hey guys thanks for the input. I've got one guy who I met at a show a year ago and was in the military at the time. He has emailed wanting sponsorship and he seems sincere, however he lives in Florida and fishes mostly in Florida. The problem is, and some of you will agree, that when you pour on a part time basis, like I do, if this guy does promote your baits as he says, and it does turn into alot of order, do I want to spend all my time pouring or fishing. I wouldn't mind doing something with him on a limited basis, but again I would rather do it more on a local level. Thanks again for all the responses. you guys have really helped me alot over the past year or so, with all you knowledge and willingness to help.
  10. Recently, I have had several request for samples or people wanting me to sponsor them. A couple has offered to promote my baits by wearing patches etc. Some have just sent emails requesting samples. I have sent out some samples to a few of the people and never heard back from them. (I think a make a really good product so I would hope it wasn't because they did'nt like them). One guy had said he had used my baits and they outperformed the others he was using, and of the requests, I think I have met only one of them at a hunting and fishing show. Most of these request are from people half way across the country. I am not opposed to sending some baits or lots of bait to the right person, but I would rather it be someone that I know, have met or at least used my baits. Actually I would rather sponsor someone on the local level if I was going to do it. As many of you know hand pouring can be very time consuming and depending on how many molds a person has, several packs of baits can be costly. How do some of you guys handle this? Thanks, Donnie.
  11. Nova, when you say put a "fresh nut" in the bottle, are you talking about something like a peanut or what?
  12. I too have had a problem with LC watermelon looking blue, but it was after it sat a couple of days after being poured. I believe the problem may have been that I wasn't getting it mixed up well before adding to plastic. Try shaking very well.
  13. Hey Jim, I thought blue with a little silver or white. I'm not sure, but I'm gonna try to make a few today. I'm not going to waste too much plastic on it, but if I get it close I'll send you a few. I hear thats a pretty good color. I thought I would pour one color in on top of the other and while pouring have my son stand there and stir it a little with a skewer. Just an experiment.
  14. Anybody have a recipe for Magic Craw Swirl from Reaction Innovations. I would like to try to pour some beavers in it. Thanks, Donnie.
  15. Hey Jim, thanks for the recipe. I am on here nearly everyday and have noticed how often you try to help everyone. Thanks to everyone who post on here. I am having a blast making baits and starting to sell a few. Hopefully enough to cover my fishing cost's.

    reapers

How do you guys fish reapers. I have fished them on a drop shot a time or two, but have never caught a fish on them.
  17. Does anyone have a recipe for Zooms Plum/Apple or Junebug/red. From what i can tell the june bug /red basically looks like junebug with a red flake. I cannot find a picture of Plum/apple. thanks for your help.
  18. Do you have a web site where I can see some of your baits? I did a search and I saw a jig that had a good looking craw on the end of it.I might be interested.
  19. After looking, I believe you are right. Thanks.
  20. Any know where I can buy a mold for a bait called a Shredder made by Clearwater Custom Tackle. I am looking for the 3 1/2 inch version. Thanks.
  21. Does anyone have any 3 1/2 or 4 1/2 inch Beaver molds or Z-Lizard molds from Bobs that they want to sell. I only have 1 of each and dearly need at least 1 more of each. Also does Del sell a Beaver mold, and if so does it look anything like Bobs. Thanks. I hate to hear that about Bobs shop. He seems like a super nice guy.
  22. Hey Del, how long would I leave them in the oven?
  23. I am having trouble pouring beavers( or any other bait actually) in a three color pour. I melt in the microwave and pour from a pyrex cup. Any suggestions.
  24. As a salesperson, I have always been taught not to show a discount up front. You may need it later, if you are still in the negotiating stage. If the guys who are buying from you are happy with your current price and have already agreed to buy from you I would not discount. Again you may need it later if he comes to you in several months and wants to negotiate, because he has found someone who will sell to him cheaper, or something like that. One thing that you may do is give him some free packages of some of your new baits or colors, just to show your appreciation. Price is only a small factor in peoples buying decisions. Quality and good service is more important. Make sure you are providing that, and I am sure you are. Good luck.
  25. I know someone has asked this before in an earlier post, but i can't seem to find a recipe for "Roadkill". Can someone give me a recipe for it. Thanks.
