This is an exceptional bait in my opinion. At a glance, I think it has its own style and the eyes have a lot of character and depth. :yay:I cannot believe you achieved this look with spray cans. Outstanding work!
  4. Bob is right. The answers often vary according to the type of bait being built. Bass bait versus musky bait for example.

She is as cute as a button!
  7. If only "a few hours" had passed when you noticed the wrinkling/sagging on the baits, you most likely could have simply removed the baits from the wheel, hit them with the heat gun, rebrushed them and removed the excess etex...and then placed them back on the wheel. Etex takes many hours to solidify under most conditions and you have quite of window during which you can rectify sags and runs...if you pay attention to the baits for the first few hours after you put them on the wheel to spin.
  8. You can actually enhance the breath trick by adding a catalyst to the process. Prior to blowing on the bait, eat one of Tater Hog's special plates of Road Kill Squirrel with a lot of his special Possum Garlic Sauce. You can actually hear the bubbles scream as they vacate the premises.
  9. I actually bought a radial arm saw at a garage sale just for that cut on that particular style bait. That was 2 years ago...haven't touched the saw or tried the bait. But I like your concept Pete. That's pretty much what I had in mind.
  10. Beautiful bait. I like the foil job on it too.
  11. In addition to the above, you could also try breathing on the bait when you're done applying the epoxy. No, I'm not kidding it works...not as easy as a heat gun or a torch, but it will definitely work.

  17. Threadfin Shad with handpainted iridescent eyes and fins, finely grated mixed glitters and gold and purple pearl overlays. Body is my design and will troll at speeds up to about 10 or 11 mph without blowing out. 5 1/4 inches, weighted, bent Lexan lip.

    Musky Cranker

Carved this one from western red cedar; weighted, hand-painted razor-thin gill stripes, custom eyes. All the paint is blended pearls under mixed fine grated glitters. I hope the muskies like it. I'm looking forward to spring already!
