Everyone talks about Pyrex, I use two currently. However, I asked my wife to go buy me a small cup from Wally world; and she bought an anchor brand cup. Will this work the same as pyrex? I read about it somewhere on here a long time ago, but don't remeber and can't find it. Please help before I scorch myself. Thanks as always. Saint.

I was at my brother's house this weekend and he ask for some chartruese color. Naturally I did not have any so I tried to add some spike it with garlic to the plastic, and it came out great. I am not sure what the long lasting effects will be. The price for a 2 oz. bottle was around $2 or $3, I think that is comparable to 2 ozs. of dye. Have any of you tried this? If so, what is your experience? Thanks. Saint.

Alsworms: I am using Calhoun's plastic. I have a lerge bottle of softner that came in my kit, but have not experimented with it yet. I think that may be next step this afternoon. Thank you to everyone regarding softner amounts. Saint.

TexasBass1: Thank you for looking at my creations. Saint.

GaBassNerd: If you get a second, please explain to me the uses of softner. Do you use it? I understand the purpose, but how much do you use per ounce of plastic? Does it allow your bait to have that much more action? Also, does the bait become less durable? My brother did mention that he thought my baits were kind of hard, and asked if I could make them softer. Any tips you can think would be greatly appreciated. All baits are for personal use. Thanks. Saint.

GABassNerd: I am almost embarrassed to say this, but I have only been able to fish with my lures one time in a private pond (I have only been pouring for about a month) . I did throw them in a swimming pool to check out sink rates. The bait itself did not really quiver that well on the fall, but once you lift your rod the bait does provide decent action. I have my brother who is a serious fisherman trying them and giving me input. To answer your question about softner, no I do not use any. My recipes only include plastic, glitter, dye and sometimes salt. I am experimenting with using garlic salt now. I am not real knowledgable about using softner, worm oil etc (as you can tell by my numerous posts asking for help). I will just continue experimenting until the fish tell me (or my brother) I have made the right mixture. This is all one giant work in progress. I have spent a galllon of plastic trying to find the exact bait I want to replicate (still have not found it). Maybe one day I will figure it out, but until then I will continue drinking cold drinks, pouring and having a ball. Good luck Saint.

Zero. I quit using salt because I fish mostly shallow water (2-4 ft.) here in south Louisiana. The salt made the bait sink too fast. If I use any, I use 1-2 dashes per 2 ounces of plastic. My measuring spoons are labled smidgen, pinch and dash. The top bait you see is my effort for making a bream color. The bream in south Louisiana are a dark purple on top with an orange belly. Thanks for your input. Saint.

I decided to try to pour some laminates last night. Here are my first attempts. Let me know what you think, both good and bad. Thanks. Saint.

GABassNerd: Hate to keep asking questions, but I ran into a problem today pouring tipped sticks. I poured the tip, and then poured the rest. Once I opened my mold there was a line going down the bait the same color as my tip. I realized while I was pouring the tip it was running down the side of the mold to the bottom. Is there a way to prevent this? I do not think my hands are steady enough to be able to pour straight down and not touch the sides. Thanks. Saint. P.S. Once I got frustrated pouring tips I tried some laminates for the first time. I think they came out decent for my first try. I will post some pics tomorrow. Thanks again everyone.

Question about tipped stick baits. If I use a 2 piece del mold, and I pour one color for the tail, how long should it sit before I add the top color? I am pondering moving up in the difficulty levels of pouring. I want to pour tipped and laminates. Thanks. Saint.

How long do you let your worms sit in the mold? I let mine stay for 2 minutes. Should I be concerned that by rolling them around in salt without putting them into water to cool will make them crooked. I plan on rolling them in the salt then laying them straight (no water). Does this sound like a plan? Thanks. Saint.

Here is a question along the same lines. How do you go about pouring a laminate with a 2 piece? I am pondering a try with a stick bait mold, but not sure the best way to go about it. I have read that you pour about a third of one side of the mold and let it sit for 15 secs. Then you put the mold together, and pour normally. Is this the best way? I am concerned the plastic will not fuse together. Thanks. Saint.

So oil is not essential to keeping the worms from drying out? I would rather not use it either. About this salt? I know it has been covered many times, but what exactly do you do? Once I pull the baits from the mold, I put them into water for a few minutes. Then I put them into little tupperware containers. Would I simply pour some table salt on the baits once I put them into the tupperware? Thanks for your help, and have a good 4th. Saint.

I would also like to add something to my previous post. I woke up this morning and looked at my oiled baits from last night in the tupperware. You cannot tell that I oiled them. They feel pretty dry, and harder than last night. Should I oil them again, or just let them be? Thanks. Saint.

Quick question. I added worm oil for the first time tonight. Basically I took some watermelon stick baits 5 at a time and put them into a ziplock bag. I then added a few drops of worm oil and mix them around. Once I took the baits out of the bag I noticed there was a green tint to the oil residue in the bag. Is this normal? Does this mean my baits are going to fade? Any help or suggestions if need will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Saint.

Does anyone have a recipe for Zoom's Arkansas Shiner? If so, would you mind sharing that with me? Thanks. Saint.

See "Questions for you Experts" topic a couple lines down. This is the same type of question, and offer some good advice. Good Luck. Saint.

I am ready to start trying some salt in my stick baits. I pour 2 oz. of plastic and get 5 baits. How much salt do you suggest I use for 2 oz. of plastic. I have read the best way to add salt is before you start heating the plastic. Is this still the general concensus? Thanks. Saint.

Tinmar: I just started pouring plastics this past weekend, and it is addictive. I bought a starter kit from Del-Mart. Del and April at Del-Mart really impressed me with the service aspect of helping me work thru some shipping issues. I would recommend dealing with them; and no, I do not have any ties to Del-Mart. I would suggest getting a stick mold to begin with, and working your way up to more difficult pours. The kit gives you everything you will need to get addicted. This site is also a great tool. The people on here are terrific people, and are great at answering questions. I had a ton of questions, and every one was answered here. Good luck, and remember always ask questions. Saint.

I am assuming by sealed you mean snapping the cover, as opposed to putting some type of seran wrap over the top? Thanks. Saint.

I need to order some more plastic. I trying to decide whether to buy 1 gallon or 5 gallons. I can store 1 gallon in my house, but not a 5 gallon bucket. If I buy a 5 gallon bucket will it be alright to leave it outside in my garage (sealed of course)? Please keep in mind I live in Louisiana, and the temps get pretty warm. Like I said before, it would be stored under my garage. Thanks for your help. Saint.

Thanks GABassNerd. I will try that recipe. I need to order some more colors and glitter first. Being from GA you may be able to help me out. I am looking for saltwater molds. Do you know of any molds that look like a cocahoe minnow made by H&H or V&M lures, or a Norton Sand Eel? Thanks. Saint.

I finally got a June Bug I can live with for now. Here is what I was wondering. How do people get a bait like a worm to have.... say a black body and a blue tail. I guess there has to be some kind of wall where the tail starts, and a hole to fill the tail? How do you get them to connect? I know this is a newbie question, but I are one (dumb too). I started with a stick mold, but I want a brush hog or beaver mold. Are these types much more difficult to pour? I will try to get some pics posted of my first weekend pouring tomorrow. Thanks for everyone's help. Now an official Addict. Saint
