Thank you for posting this as I was always a fan of his. Now I have been making jigs for about 15 years and never though of that trick with the weedguard. That has to be one of the most useful tips ever for making jigs. Allen

Have you looked into just buying them in bulk from Cast Industries? I like pouring most of my own lead but these just are not worth my time. Come to think of it somewhere I have an old 1/4oz bullet weight mold. It is solid metal to include the handles but I do not have any pull pins. If I can find it I would let it go for $10 plus shipping. Allen

Trial and error unless you can specify a particular color from a manufacturer. Looks like I would start with some clear and mix yellow and .015 silver metallic flake until happy with the results. Allen

For a heavier wire 60 degree flat-eye hook I highly recommend the Gama 594 hook. Allen

Fishingskirts.com carries GLC products and if they don't have it I would be surprised. The other place to check is SkirtsPlus and they should have a catalog you can download (If not send me a PM and I will send it to you). These two companies produce like 95% of the skirt material on the market so one should have it. Allen

What is everyones secret to getting a good paint with this? Any other color I have no problems with but this one is a PITA as at least 50% of the jigs do not come out right. Allen

All depends on what you use? For me making jigs and shakeyheads is cost effective. Allen

Too much paint like others have said. I have one jig that this just happens way more than any other. What works for it is too hang the jigheads by the eye using Christmas bulb hooks. Hooks are like $1.50 per hundred at the dollar store. Allen

Eagle Claw makesa lighter wire hook as well. Allen

I use the Do It sparkie mold and punch out the hook eye with a punch from Harbor Freight. Allen

Waiting on mine to show up to try them out. For chatterbaitsI have been using the 35 degree Gamakatsu hooks I bought from eBay which are working fine. Allen

If you want a bigger Gamakatsu hook try one of the 35 degree 5/0 ones from eBay. Allen
