  1. Wouldn't the foam bait get stuck inside a metal mold? If I design a bait that really works it would be nice to have a metal mold that would last forever. Allen
  2. I am ordering some silicone and with the cost I figured I would practice using POP first. Allen
  3. My method is to drive over to Hookups house and snag some of his. Every time I try to tie my own I end up with A the hair falling off or B gluing the hair to my fingers. Allen
  4. You are mostly correct? Thinner wire is not as durable and bending it straight after catching fish is what breaks it. I have never had one break on a fish they always break when I try to bend them back into shape. Most of the time I use .032 for maximum vibration but I do use the .035 on 1oz baits. That little blue bender is nice when you do want to make a custom frame. I used it to make a larger frame for a 6 bladed bait. Allen
  5. I am not sure if they would work as the hitch hiker has a clip on the end and the do-it one is mostly straight. The do-it ones are stronger as they are steel and not copper which I have broke in the past. Allen
  6. I have been researching the Alumilite resin and according to the manufacture they have made lures out of it. Looking to get some this week along with some of that 16lb foam from one of the links posted on this site. Allen
  7. Contact Chuck at Tight Line his number is flashing on the right hand side of your screen. As soon as all my sacrificial spinnerbaits arrive from Japan I am having him make me a mold. I want to incorporate some features from several different baits and he said he would be up to the challenge. Allen
  8. I wonder why they dropped them and the hidden weight heads? Allen
  9. Using the pre-bent forms is easier and unless you want a custom bent frame I would just use them. I to like thinner wire and .035 super stainless is a good all around wire for 1/4 to 3/4oz. Allen
  10. Do you have any pics of what they look like? Allen
  11. I have spent the last week reading all the foam threads (printed them out along with the tutorial) but still have a couple questions. Since I have only ever made one mold before (durhams water putty) will practicing with POP help me learn for the silicone or are they that different? How many molds can I make out of 2 lbs of silcone? (I am making cranks about 3/8oz size). I plan on using the Alumilite regular resin as Coley recommended it with their microballons. They sell 28oz bottle which should get me started but how many cranks can I expect? Do I need to order more from the start? Husky recommended hoppy silicone but which one of these hobby silicone do I want to use? I am guessing the FIRM one but have no idea? http://www.hobbysilicone.com/Silicone.htm Sorry for all the questions but I plan on ordering my supplies in the next couple of days. I would like to get all the correct supplies on the first try. Allen
  12. I may have them but they would be in my garage so I can check tomorrow. Allen

I really like that color pattern! Allen
  15. I do not use the coated wire guards but the easiest way to pour wire weedguards is with a spinnerbait collar. Take a piece of wire and bend a small hook in one end that will attach to the hook and prevent it from falling out of the mold. Next slide a rubber skirt collar down the wire shaft and place it where the basepin meets the jighead and close the mold. The collar will get black but not melt and can be used about a dozen times before it is destroyed. When you pour the head the collar will prevent the lead from filling up the basepin area. There will be a little flashing around the base of the collar that can be easily removed. Allen
  16. I find that they could be a little longer on the screw locks. Now I do have the problem of the lead being loose on the hook after pouring. Powder painting the jig seems to cure the problem though. Allen
  17. I am looking to get one. Allen
  18. Was it CLU? http://www.customluresunlimited.com/predator Allen
  19. I made it with just on color that was either amber or rootbeer? but I have know idea how many drops, etc. Allen
  20. Here is my method: Pour the jig Wiggle the basepin some so that is loose Powdercoat jig with basepin still in Wiggle the basepin again until it is seperated from the jig Bake jig with basepin in Remove basepin and glue in weedguard with superglue GEL The basepins that you use will build up powderpaint on them so I have some just for curring paint. If you do not wiggle and seperate the basepin during the steps it will become a perminate part of your jighead. Allen
  21. Do they have a website? Allen
  22. Just saw that they had TI frames on clearance but when I called they were all gone? Who is the culprit? Allen
