  5. When making jigs with weed guards do you mold the weed guard in when pouring or do you glue it in after painting? I like my jigs with a hand tied skirt. Do you tie your skirt in before or after you attach the weed guard? Thanks, Tony
  6. Just wondering how many people sell the lures & tackle they make? Sell because you have made to many & need room to make more. Sell to pay for your hobby. Sell as a side business. sell as a full time business.
  7. I was wondering where everyone buys all of their supplies you use for tackle making? If you build tackle to sell do you buy it wholesale or retail? Thanks, Tony
  8. I tie a lot of flies & jigs & I'm looking for a place to sell some of the stuff I make. Besides eBay what other venues do you guys sell your creations on? I looked at cave crafts.com but there hasn't been any activity there since I first looked at it last year. I even tried to contact them to see what's up with the site but never received an email back so I assume that they aren't really operating the site. Thanks, Tony

    Deceivers

Your flies look great. I work with epoxy a lot in my tying & here are some of my findings that might help. 5 minute epoxy will yellow over time. Hard Head works good but you have to use multiple coats to get the build of epoxy. One negative with the Hard Head is it will start to turn milky white if your fly spends considerable time in the water. I use Devcon 2-Tone Clear Epoxy. You will get about a half hour work time with it. What I do is to work in small batches & mix it on a piece of aluminum foil to spread out a little. This will help the air bubbles come to the surface quicker so they can pop. If you have a lot of air bubbles you can warm the bottom of the foil which will force the bubbles up where you can blow on them to pop but you will loose some work time when heating epoxy. Tony P

    bucktail ?

Skunk is usually to soft for the patterns that I use bucktail in but it is a great material for many patterns. Tony P
  18. Bob & Mark, Thanks for the reply! I'm looking forward to another addicting hobby to drain my pocket book . I'm sure I'll have many questions in the near future. Tony P

    bucktail ?

I'm sure you can find all of the information you need on the internet but if you want it in book form I recommend A.K. Best's book "Dyeing and Bleaching Natural Fly-Tying Materials". It covers bucktails & most natural materials used in fly tying in great length. I've dyed many bucktails & the only color that I can't stand to dye is black, for some reason I just can't get it jet black. Tony P
  20. Bob, The talent on this board is simply amazing . I have been searching the forum & there is so much information I could sit hear reading it for a month straight. I realize everyone has personal preferences & does things a little different but I was hoping some of you would tell me, "here are the must have basics that I use & here's why I like them". Tony P P.S. I was looking at your gallery & really like your baits .
  21. Hello Everyone, I want try my hand a doing some repaints before I even think about building my own lures. I have plenty of old crankbaits, top water baits, & jerkbaits to play with so I need to know what equipment, paints, epoxies, etc. I need to get myself started. I know the list is probably never ending but you have to start somewhere. I've been going through the same thing with tying flies for the last 15+ years, it got so bad I had to dedicate a whole room to my addiction . Tony P
  22. Where can I get the DVD? Tony P
