  1. I order 30 gallons at time in 5 gallon buckets. It actually seperates rather than settles, that is, I have never had any hard pack with Lureworks. If you like soft baits the Easy Flow is great.
  2. I have been running this system for about a year and I agree with everything that you said. I have been thinking about adding the stand alone injector heater and you just convinced me!
  3. Excalibur was [is?] owned by Pradco. The hard baits that were Excaliber are now listed as Heddon.
  4. I also cut and close 2x Eagle Claws. There is a little bit of a learning curve but it works well.
  5. Your ideal temperatures will vary, depending on the plastisol that you are using. The plastic that I use will push through the the gel stage at about 330 degrees. I set the temperature control boxes at 340 degrees to start, when they reach that temperature and cycle twice [red light off-red light on] I cut them back to 300 degrees and then purge the injector a few times to help circulate the plastic in the pots. I have an infrared thermometer and also a digital core prode, but to be honest, I can tell more by just looking at the plastic as it heats and the way it feels when I am filling the injector. There are some things to watch for, such as an air conditioner vent that might be blowing more on one pot. [Learned this the hard way} I suggest that you work with dark colors until you have the feel of the unit, it will come to you pretty fast.
  6. Ultra Molds is making the Mini Shooting Star. You can contact them through their web site. Rupert and Chris are great guys to work with.
  7. I have had my Ultra Molds MSS for a couple of months but we have been so busy with the store that I had only had time to test it a few times until recently, I am impressed! It took a little trial and error to get the temperature controls figured out but once I did they work prefect. You can really go through some plastic with this unit. Is the nozzle o-ring a standard o-ring or is it high heat? I agree, I wish I had this unit 20 years ago, when i was still young enough to really take advantage of it!
  8. Take a look at the Eagle Claw 500BP [Li'l Nasty Black Platinum] they are comparable to the Matzuo Sickle and in my opinion the quality control is much better.
  9. Since I am old, bad eyes and shakey hands, I found that the small round file is a great option!
  10. That sure looks like a 702 to me.

Rupert, no problem. I actually talked to you earlier today on the phone. I really appreciate everything you and Chris are doing. Ben

    Ultra Molds

Has anyone been able to contact Chris or Rupert in the past few weeks? I have not had any response to emails or phone messages. I am not trying to bad mouth anyone, I just have some questions.
  13. online labels is a pretty good source.
  14. I visted with Rupert a few days ago and I said that they would be posting examples on you tube soon. They are listed on you tube under Ultramolds.
  15. Do-It stamps them in house. I have visited with them several times over flaws I have experienced with this body.
  16. Thank you. I have the mini system on order. I am currently using Bear's system but really needed a smaller capacity set up. I shoot a lot of White and also Pearl, so I must get the plastic worked up a fast as possible. 10 minutes isn't a problem, I have enough molds to get 2 quarts shot in about 20 minutes.
  17. About how long does it take to bring a quart up to app. 325 degrees?
  18. I talked to Rupert at Ultramolds about 6 months ago and they were working on a smaller Shooting Star unit. I have tried to call and and email for the past month and have not been able to get in touch with Rupert or Chris. The last I knew they were still waiting on one or two components. Maybe someone else has some news on the smaller unit.
  19. All epoxy that I have used will yellow.
  20. I agree with Smalljaw. We are now using the Eagle Claw 570BP for all of our production jigs. For the money, I haven't found anything that is close to it.
  21. You are right, the fish don't care. However, being in the retail end of this business I rarely have a fish standing in front of the cash register!
  22. I will interested in hearing your experience. I am looking at a new Ring Worm mold, and I am pretty sure it will need the easy flow.
  23. I have had white with no glitter and never hotter than 315 degrees in a stirred Presto Pot take on a yellow tint in less than 30 minutes. I now only shoot very small batches of White.
  24. I have the same problem, mostly with Pearl and Whites. I have just about decided to limit the size of my runs to 1 hour, or less. It means more molds, but on the bright side, it gives me break!
  25. I use a lot of CSI Seal Coat for various lead lures, but I really don't think it is what you are looking for when it comes to Crankbaits. It is very user friendly and dries crystal clear, but it is not as hard epoxy.
