  1. For the difference in price, I might be willing to cut the leg that goes into the mold and re-bend it.
  2. Cadman, I have an order for Shorty's and was going to try 1000, I think I will wait until you report back. Thanks for being the "tester" Ruf-Nec
  3. I have been using CSI paint for years for Slabs. I switched from the vinyl to the water based 2 years ago and I would never go back to vinyl. If you use the Seal Coat for your clear coat it is plastic resistant and it also adds a lot of luster and it is pretty tough. One word of caution, if you use any adhesive tape for patterns top with clear water base before putting the Seal Coat on.
  4. Mold release has solved 99% of my trouble with problem molds. I have found that they need to be re-sprayed from time to time. It works best for me if I clean them with acetone before spraying.
  5. Mike, I also received a sample and I was very impressed. Do you have any idea what the recommended ratio of optical brightener to 1 lb. of plastisol would be? I didn't think about asking Bruce at the time. Thanks, Ben
  6. Jim, I was using medium. I don't use a microwave ever, but in the Presto Pot the smoke and fumes was about the same as Calhoun's or Lurecraft. The clarity was good. There is very little settling even after the bucket has set for about a week. I am curious about the difference between the pourasol and injectasol. I always finish out the pot by pouring open pour molds.
  7. I brought in 5 gallons of the pourasol last week and have been satisfied so far. I got a sample of the brightness additive but have not had a chance to try it. I am looking froward to trying the new plastisol, as well.
  8. I use Frankford Arsenal Drop Out for the mold release. It is available from several sources, but I usually get it from Barlows. If you coat your mold with it, it helps a great deal with solving the incomplete pour issues, as well.
  9. I have poured this mold for about 15 years. Mold release agent helps a great deal, but the best method that I have found as far as removing is to use a pair of 90 degree needle nose and grab the sprue from the top. Wobble the mold slightly as you pull and this helps. As your mold wears in { about a thousand or so pours} it will improve.
  10. I have been using the seal coat on all of our lead products for about 2 years. It is not as hard as epoxy, it is resistant to soft plastic, sprays or dips well, and is the most user friendly top coat I have ever used.
  11. George, Any clear epoxy should keep the lead from reacting with the plastic. We have just recently started using the clear Seal Coat from CSI to protect paint from plastic, and so far we have been pleased with the results.
  12. Mark, Yes, it will react with soft plastic. It will need to be coated with an epoxy clear coat.
  13. I think this is the seal coat that is sold by CSI. I buy it by the gallon. It is not as hard as epoxy, but drys very clear and is resistant to plastic. I use it on jigs, jigging spoons, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits, and I am very pleased, so far. It is very user friendly, but I repeat not as hard as epoxy.
  14. I read the same article and thought, you must be kidding!. But I had a bag of hand poured 4" finesse worm laying on my work station so I dropped a pinch of fresh coffee into the bag. Last Thursday I rigged one on a drop shot, and started catching Smallies right away. Did it have anything to do with the coffee? I don't know. Will I try it again? You bet!
  15. if you are going to pour in volume, I recommend the RCBS.
  16. Jeff, Between 2 businesses, we ship over 1000 packages a year USPS. The service is really pretty good, and if you are shipping to mainly residental addresses, by far the least costly. Also, if you use Priority Mail the shipping containers are furnished at no cost to you. With that said, I would recommend looking at USPS.com. I would use delivery confirmation on every shipment. If you print your own shipping label there is no cost for this on Priority Mail, and it is discounted on 1st class and this gives you a way to track the shipment. Are there problems with shipping USPS? Sure, but I could tell you some real horror stories about UPS and FedX as well. Ben
