  1. Yes, I have used the Polytranspar water based paints. Very nice for natural colors. They shoot well right out of the gun with no thinning required. I like them and have used them for several years. Check out wildlife colors also they sell them on the same website. Rod
  2. Downstream know-it-all All I was trying to do was help the guy out.....he is not spraying lacquer or any other flammable type paint....but I guess you have to have the last word..... I guess next question I have I will have to ask you....
  3. Downriver, If you would watch the video, you would understand how it works. It does work.....no fumes, no explosion or fire....there has to be a build up....and it has nothing to do with "skimping by".... It has to do with common sense.....and basic physics. Rod
  4. I built mine with a 1000 cfm squirrel cage blower....made by dayton. You can find them on line. Like I said, I shoot eveything through mine and never a problem.....If you are only going to do water based paints, and want a small version you could probably get by with 400 or 500 cfm. Rod

  8. lots of information all over the place.....We use strictly Iwata guns. We do everything at about 45 PSI hair lines, thick lines and everything inbetween. You have to be able to control your brush which means practice. We use Createx, Wildlife Colors, Golden Airbrush paints and Polytranspar which are all water based paints at the same PSI and never have to thin the paint. You do not have to lower your PSI for fine lines if your gun is working correctly. You have to control the amount of paint coming out of the gun.......and just a bit of fact, Iwata recommends PSI at 25 for artwork meaning paper or fiber board and 50 to 65 for T-shirts and automotive painting. Since we do most of our work on hard surfaces....45 to 65 PSI is the norm....at least for Iwata guns. Rod
  9. Mark, I wave a propane torch over the baits as they rotate and all the bubbles disappear. Rod
  10. deja vu....Britebak is really the stuff....have used it for years....remember this post?? http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/hard-baits/8075-adhesive-foil-2.html Rod
  11. Mark, I have used it recently on some of our newest Musky baits. It is very high gloss and working time is about the same as Etex. It is a little tougher than etex but not as tough as D2. It is thin and that is why I tried it. The jury is still out as far as what Musky teeth will do to the baits..... Rod
  12. Pete, Love the steering system and seat ideas, but the crocs have to go man!!! lol Rod
  13. Mark, I use mylar templates all the time....cut one side and then turn them over and use the other side for opposite side of the bait???? Then you get exact on both sides.....I don't know what you mean by two sided stencils. All stencils are two sided. Rod
  14. Great source for handmade musky lures
  15. I guess I am a little shocked that you guys are protesting a lousy $4.99 a month. That is like the cost of one beer in most bars.....for what comes out of and gets put into this site, that is a steal......and you guys are in the business to boot.....bewildering to me?????
  16. John, Huge fan of your foil work, great stuff... Rod

    top water musky

Very cool.....how long are they? Rod
  20. Finlander, I still don't think you would have a problem as long as the wood was not split or any big knots. I keep mine the same speed all the time. The key to the whole deal with a lathe is keep your tools real sharp and you will feel like your cutting butter. However, I have a midi-lathe that I bought just for lure making and it is much smaller than a shopsmith..... Rod
  21. Finlander, I turn cedar baits all the time down to 1". I use both Western Red Cedar and Eastern White Cedar. I just make sure there is no splits or bad knots. I have never had a problem and have made many, many baits this way. Rod

  23. Borderbasser, I have used all three, but Wildlife colors by Smith paints is by far the better of the three. Atomizes perfectly, great colors and easy to use. I have never needed to thin this paint. You'll like it. Rod
  24. Try this, Last I looked, they don't carry HOK at Dixie art..... 2 Oz & 4Oz Products Rod
