  1. Thanks for the compliment! Here is the second one I just painted. It's not finished yet, but pretty close. Golden wild shiner. Has a black back, gold sides, pearl bottom. Hard to get the detail to focus on the pic.
  2. Hey guys, ive been reading a lot on here about different ways to top coat a hard bait. I do a lot of powder paint but just brought an airbrush yesterday and started playing with some old messed up Strike King baits I have. I painted one using createx, and it turned out pretty good for doing basically zero prep work. My question is, has anyone used the Krylon Poly Urethane spray for a top coat? I looked all over town for devcon 2 but haven't found it locally. I bought a rotisserie today and im going to make a drying wheel sometime this week. Anyways, let me know what you think for a "true rookie".
  3. I use the paint markers and it seems to work really well!
  4. Graphic reply! LOL. Thanks, that's what I thought!
  5. I've been pricing out all my components, and have ran across steel willow leaf blades that are quite a bit cheaper. I know they are heavier than brass. Is there any other disadvantage of steel rather than going with brass? I understand the weight differences, and affect it will have on the lures, but durability wise is my concern. Rust, tarnish, ect.
  6. George I think i will give it a shot but it's not as hard as you think to use the glue. The method I use to attach the eyes is a double sided piece of tape, applied to the bottom of an old pin. Then i picke the eye up with it, attach a dab of glue, and then pin point my placement. The glue grabs the eye, and pulls right off the tape.
  7. Hey guys, just a heads up for what I found that is working great for me now. CA glue. CA Glue is a super glue that is used in building model aircrafts. I found an old bottle of it that was dried up but I remembered how incredibly strong it is. It comes in three curing speeds, fast medium an slow. The trick is to keep from getting glue on the top half of the eye as it will haze over. A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY! Hope this helps some of you somewhere.
  8. Does the D2T work over powderpaint? I powder paint all my spinnerbaits.
  9. What do you guys use to secure your eyes to the lure body? I've used super glue, and thought about trying CA glue for model aircrafts. Im having a little trouble with them coming off at times. Any help would be appreciated.
  10. I decided to order a bunch of silicone, and spinnerbait materials. I don't post here a whole lot, but I read almost every day so I still owe you guys a lot of thanks anyways! Just waiting for my 3d my eyes to get here. Here is my first one!
  11. I was at BPS in Orlando, FL. the other day and they had whole kits packaged for $35.00.
  12. Hey guys, my name is Mike. Im new to the whole lure making process. I put together a couple spinnerbaits last night for the first time with some stuff I bought at Bass Pro over here. Im looking for some Jig heads/Wireforms. Ive been lurking for a few weeks so I have checked out the other sites, but I was wondering if anyone here who pours there own heads sold any to other memebers? Im not at the point where im ready to start pouring yet, so I thought i'd check with some members here. Im looking for probably 20 heads/wireforms or so unpainted, or possibly prepainted depending on price. If someone can help me out i'd appreciate it! Thanks!
