  1. Presto Griddle K-Mart is where I got mine about $25
  2. I think the best advise you already have and that's to use the search engine. Every question you might have has been answered and is sitting there for the taking.
  3. Are you talking about his Naked Swimmer? That's a copy of the Skinny Dipper. Here you go http://www.basstackle.com/5_Swim_Ripper_mold_Single_cavity_p/swimripper5singlecavity.htm
  4. Which one is it you are using? Most of the popular ones have been copied and are available.
  5. I had checked into that a few years ago when I was still making jewelry. You can actually copyright a group of them as a catalog and is very inexpensive. At the time about 6 years ago it was $25 per item. It shouldn't be confused with a patent but more like copyrighting a photo. I would think, if you can't afford a patent, then you certainly can't afford to defend it against infringement.
  6. Just went to Bryan's site and see he's got a bunch on sale like 95's and 110's among others for $1.75 Pretty good price without having to buy quantity. http://www.bustinbassbaits.com
  7. In other words, what he was really sayng....."yes,of course they are made in China!"
  8. I use the HF 1/5hp airbrush compressor. It's quiet, cheap and works well. I have had a couple burn out but I just bring them back for a new one. This one I'm using now has worked since July. I use it 2-3 hours a day, every day.
  9. Do a search. I thought it was recently mentioned that it was actually Lurework's product. nevermind......found it. http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/topic/22953-airbrushing-rubber-baits/page__p__171905__hl__+lureworks%20+paint__fromsearch__1#entry171905
  10. Thanks for taking the time to write this, Skeeter.......excellent stuff right there! I never thought about using the toothpick to pop any bubbles. Takes the worry out of getting you lips full of D2T while breathing on the lure
  11. Great! What paints were you using?
  12. I don't believe so. He once sent me pics of all his stuff and a frog was not one of them.
  13. yep! and if you don't put salt in it and don't load it up with flake, it will stand straight up off the bottom. It floats naturally so it will reach for the surface.......no need for any additives!
  14. The hardener does have a slight yellow tint to it but the resin is clear. The finish should also be clear. Must be an old batch?
  15. Here's my comparison of the 2 BSI products but I have been brushing them on. This is what I’ve found out about Bob Smith Industries 20 Finish Cure and their 30 Minute Slow Cure. The 20 Minute Finish Cure is much thinner than the 30 Minute Slow Cure and much easier to brush on. They are two completely different products by BSI. The 30M SC is similar to D2T and will allow you to do 3 baits. One coat comes out great. The 20M FC allows you to do about 6 baits. One coat is sufficient for complete coverage, however 2 coats gives a deeper Finish and has a much better appearance. The 30M SC has a little bit harder finish. If you want a thinner coat I would use the 20M FC. I have done well over 500 baits with the 20M FC and recently tried the 30M Slow Cure Epoxy. Even though I think both products are great...........I find that 1 coat of 30M SC looks better than 2 coats of 20M FC. Both are ready for hooks in 8 hours (but a little longer is better) and both have great flow properties Just my findings......oh, and NO bubbles with either one! At this time, I have probably equaled close to 500 baits with the 30 Minute slow Cure. I have settled on doing 2 baits per batch (no thinning) at my leisure. When I try to do three baits ………well I think I’m about to have an Anxiety Attack! LOL. I find the warmer the weather the easier it is to apply. I give both parts a little shot of the heat gun(when it is below 70 degrees) before mixing and that helps. BSI claims that their 20 FC is water resistant and the 30 SC is waterproof. I’ve had baits cleared in both with one coat submerged for 24 hours with no ill effects. There isn’t any odor with either which is what I need because the lungs I have now are shot. Maybe when I get my new ones, I’ll use auto clear………..not! These are just my findings and what seems to me working for me right now. Richard
  16. You should be able to get all of the Bob Smith Industries products at you local hobby shop.
  17. Not a problem. I think there are some other threads as well. You just have try some different keywords. Good luck, catch fish and have fun!
  18. Found this using the search feature. There are more using keywords.... injecting swirls http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/topic/22308-swirl-colors/page__p__166559__hl__+injecting%20+swirls__fromsearch__1#entry166559
  19. I would decide on what baits you want to make and get those molds. I hand poured for many years and then, when hand injection came about I tried it. Trust me.....get a medium injector and some molds. You will be making professional looking baits from the get go. Get the colors and flake you will be using and maybe some highlight powder and/or some pearl. I don't know where you will be pouring/injecting but do a search for respirators and ventilation. There is much written about it. There is more so maybe others will chime in. Ask questions!
  20. Go for it! Ask all the questions you need to right here. The good thing about the aluminum molds is, they do not lose value. Any aluminum mold you don't or can't use, just drop the original price by 10% w/free shipping and it's usually gone in a day or so. Just think things through a bit before you decide what you get and try to order all at once to save on shipping.
  21. If you're looking to make plastics for your tourney fishing....you'll need several hundred dollars just to get started. Things to consider: A pint of plastic is enough for a single tourney, pouring baits of different styles and colors. A heating source like a microwave or presto pot and you can't use one you also use to heat food in. Pyrex type cups or similar ventilation/respiration systems (use search feature) 1-5 gallons of plastic colorants flake worm bags injector molds learning curve (free but takes time and material unless all you throw is black) I'm sure I've missed a few. I'm not trying to discourage you because this is a fantastic hobby and some even turn it into a business. If you purpose is to save money immediately and supply your tourney needs it won't happen immediately and a little bit more than a $75 start up cost. Just want to let you know what you're getting into. Welcome, good luck and remember.....all of your answers can be found right here!
