  1. The 20 minute Finish Cure is much thinner than the 30 Minute Slow Cure and much easier to brush on. They are two completely different products by BSI.The 30M SC is similar to D2T and will allow you to do 3 baits. One coat comes out great. The 20M FC allows you to do about 6 baits. One coat is sufficient for complete coverage, however 2 coats gives a deeper finish and has a much better appearance. The 30M SC has a little bit harder finish. If you want a thinner coat i would use the 20M FC. I have done well over 500 baits with the 20M FC and recently tried the 30M Slow Cure Epoxy. Even though I think both products are great...........I find that 1 coat of 30M SC looks better than 2 coats of 20M FC. Both are ready for hooks on 8 hours and both have great flow properties Just my findings......oh, and NO bubbles with either one!
  2. Those look great! Do you need to prepare the foil in any way before applying paint?
  3. Try Bob Smith Industries 20 Minute Finish Cure...No odor, no fumes, brush on and ready to use in 8 hours. You can also us devcon 30 minute Epoxy and thin it with a little denatured alcohol for a thinner coat.
  4. There is nothing wrong with using that salt right out of the box. I did that for years and so has/does many others. I agree with bass-boys about using such a small amount of plastic. I know you don't want to waste it, but you just need to go through this learning curve or you will end up wasting more. When hand pouring sticks you need to stir every two sticks. No way around that. If your salt is sinking too fast, try pouring a little cooler. I have never used a thermometer. I judge by the consistency of the plastic when I stir/pour.The basic formula is 1 cup plastic-1/2 cup salt-1/4 cup softener. That will vary depending on which plastic is used and also personal preference. Just what works for me.

    Paint

    There's plenty on e-bay
  6. The "new" GP is more on the green side and the "old" gp had more brown in it. The strengths were about the same. I used 18 drops (no salt baits)per 8oz. of either.
  7. I have the one from Harbor Freights. I have had two go out on me. One was after 4 months and the other after a couple of weeks. They exchanged both of them. I am not surprised because they get used about 2-3 hours every day and they are made in China. I said when i first started using it, if it went out i would get another. I like it that much.
  8. I usually get mine from www.artsupply.com They are the same company as Chicago and are about the least expensive. They had 14% off the other day and offer free shipping about once every month or so. You just have to keep an eye open for the specials
  9. .......or if you really suck at that type of thing like I do, just roll on some Durabak. It will last for years and easy to keep clean.
  10. Just put that scent on after you pour your baits when you are bagging them up.
  11. I think you're trying to do to much, too fast. I would suggest working on your salt formula before worrying about redipes. You haven't decided which salt to use yest let alone granula size. There is no secret about salt. There are more threads on salt than carter has pills. READ, READ, READ and then read some more and use the search Engine. I did it and so did everyone else here. Slow down and learn the properties of the plastic, salt, etc. you are using and keep your variable to a mnimum.
  12. Yep, that's it! You're always going to have left over salt, plastic and never enough molds!
  13. Those hooks are needle sharp. They are Mustad and not knock offs. I've bought 100's of the #4, #6 and #2.
  14. You have to keep topping off the cavities until no more plastic gets sucked down. Just remelt those sitcks with a little fresh plastic and repour
  15. As vodkaman stated the salt doesn't evaporate in the plastic. You don't need to flour the Morten's salt unless you want opaque baits. That's what flouring salt does. It will suspend better in the plastic but the baits in my opinion look like crap. I would highly suggest pouring some baits without salt to get a feel for your mic, plastic, colorant, etc. It's just one less variable to deal with. I would also highly suggest reading previous threads in the soft bait forum as well as utilizing the search engine. There is a wealth of information there and answers to most questions as well as time/money saving tips, tricks and techniques.

  17. When i said 2:20 for one cup of plastic, that is without salt.
  18. I have that exact same set up. I have not used the airbrush because i have an Iwata but many people say good things about it. The compressor works great and is very quiet. I use it about 3 hours a day almost every day. If mine takes a dump, I would go get another one.
  19. Yes, you can use it with any paints. I make up a little bottle of about 60% Pledge and 40% water. Then I just squirt in a little at a time to the bottle of paint until I get the consistency of skim milk.
  20. Salt is used primarily to make the bait sink. You don't have to use salt in any baits. The colors come out much better without salt. Del makes great stick molds.
  21. HIM: Good Day, Am Mr. i will like to order some of you HARD PLASTIC FISHING LURE from your shop i will like to know three different sizes you have in stock now also let me know the price of each and your payment options.Thank you waiting to hear from you soon.. SCAM! He sent this e-mail to every bait company he could find. You might want to check the postal code of where it is suppose to be delivered. It might not even be in New Zealand. I've had orders before that said one country and the postal code was in Nigeria. People get credit card numbers and place orders. You get paid and then the people (victims) find out someone is using their CC#. They get the money put back into their account. The money you received get sucked right out and the scammer gets the merchandise.
  22. It really doesn't matter where you get the salt. The finer you grind it, the more opaque the bait will be. It's the crystals that reflectt/refract light. Grind up those crystals and that will no longer happen. The baits might tear up a little easier but I personally like a translucent bait. Also, if you flour your salt, then the only flake that will be seen is what is on the outside of the bait. Nova, I knew you were joking,
  23. No, I never got salt at the "feed store" only parrot food. I always bought my salt at Publix. Mortens Piclking Salt in the green box. No grinding, no flouring Just open the box and pour out the conents!
  24. If you are going to grind or flour your salt, you can go to any feed store. I believe that is the least expensive way to go.
