  2. Some plastisols will be tacky after demolding. They need to "set up" for a good 24 hours. If they are still tacky, then you might not have mixed well enough prior to pouring and getting mostly softener.
  3. Basspro.....I think you would have better luck getting an answer if you start a new thread with your question in the "title" box
  4. I don't think you would ever get "true" results with so many variables. It would be very difficult to control. I do agree with a previous post that clarity is not on the top of my priorities. I've tried many different plastisols and most if not all were clear enough for me. What's more important to me is that (with sticks) they don't fall apart. Worms that keep their shape after bagging and minimal preparation prior to pouring. Minimal fumes and smell so I don't have to go back to the doctor is a big plus as well. I don't clear dip so it just isn't that critical an issue for me. I think Senko Sam did a comparison study a while back but accuracy without more control is suspect.
  5. Just click on this link. You should find what you are looking for Tacklemakers
  6. They should do just fine in bags. Just squirt some scent or worm oil on them before packaging them. It wouldn't be any different then curl or ribbon tail worms.
  7. With the line on the reel, attach the end to a fixed object and start walking backwards letting out line. I usally walk back about 1 1/2 times my maximum casting distance. Stretch the line before breaking point and hold it there for about one minute. Then reel in as you walk back. This almost always gets rid of the memory. This works well with line that's already on the reel or fresh from the spool. I do this more frequently with spinning gear.
  8. Bears Baits has a good variety of starter kits. it's best to contact them to discuss which one meets your needs. They are very helpful.
  9. If you are getting bubbles then you are pouring them in. It's possible you are getting the plastic too hot too fast......or you are shaking the heck out of the container an putting the bubbles in the plastisol before you even start. If you see a bunch of bubbles coming up, stir for a bit and nuke for another 15 or 20 seconds. This will thin the plastic and allow the remaining bubbles to rise to the surface as you stir some more. Stir, don't whip and if you have one, use a metal butter knife.
  10. Are bubbles coming up to the surface in the Pyrex before you pour?
  11. Yep, it's a great bait, but if that's the only swimmer you're throwing then you possibly might not be catching all the fish you could.
  12. It does have a hookslot and is very easy to to pour multiple colors. I borrowed that mold from a friend and poured a bunch for myself. It has great action and a nice side to side roll.

  14. I find that it pours the same as the regular. I have only used it for sticks so far. I'm using about 40% less salt so the color is quite a bit better and clearer. It takes a little bit more softener and they do seem more durable.
  15. It is possible that if they are inconsistent in color it could be that some of the sticks have more salt in them than others. More salt and the color will be lighter. Less salt will produce a darker bait. If you have a scale, you can check the weight of each. You can also squeeze the bait and feel the salt. Most guys like their sticks between 10-12 grams. You might also try pouring sticks without salt just to get comfortable with the burner set up you are using. They fish great on a shakey head or rigged wacky!
  16. Sorry Jim. All of the molds are gone. Richard
  17. I do not think it is fair nor the place to have suppliers/vendors explain their products on TU. It puts them on the spot and ends up getting personal and nasty again. Each have their own web sites, forums and customer support areas. If I have a question or concern about a specific product I contact that individual. I know I've had enough drama to last til the end of the year.
  18. If you are concerned about fumes, then go with the hand injection, definitely! I have all three..........hand pour, hand injection and asthma:yay:
  19. You should be able to make them black. Just keep adding til you there.
  20. He was asking about a tank for soft plastics to shoot videos. I was ASSuming (bad habit of mine) it was to show the action using a stand up or drop shot rig, etc. If that is/was the case a 30 gallon tall type tank should work. I've seen some nice demos on You Tube using small tanks with the company logo/website on the glass. I've been wanting to to that (and many other things) for a while. Those sizes can be obtained for the price I mentioned. As the tanks get any larger than that, the price will go up because of the thickness of the glass needed. However, if you will settle for a used tank you can get larger ones cheap. Just look in the paper. People get tired of taking care of their fish tanks and dump them cheap.
  21. The remaining molds were just put up on e-bay. Thanks to everyone that purchased some. Here's the item number for that 7" curl tail 380163492412
  22. Watch it Jim. You might get a Cease and Desist letter from Zoom for unauthorized use of a picture of their patented bait!.....oh, wait....I might too! I know they're watching:D
