  1. The rule of thumb (but not written in stone) is soft master-hard mold, hard master-soft mold. If you are use to carving, you can create your master from wax and pour Bondo brand fiberglass resin over it. The heat released from the resin will melt the wax away leaving a highly detailed mold. Here's a link from our search engine using the key words; wax masters Welcome aboard! Tackleunderground - Search Results
  2. That's a strange one. I've never seen the flakes go to one side of a vertically poured bait. Out of curiosity, what type of flake are you using? Are they of the plastic or metal type?
  3. Just to follow up after everyones' help. Pictures 1 and 2 (Mocha) were 1 drop for the lighter and 2 drops for the darker of M-F Cinnamon in 4 oz plastic. The other one was M-F Brown Watermelon and a touch of floured salt to cloud it up a bit. All three were dead on! Thanks
  4. Who you calling grumpy old men? Well, I'd hit you with my cane if you weren't so far away! Welcome aboard:yay:
  5. If I was a smartass, I'd tell you they are on back order and you'd have to wait 6 months, take up jig making that they are not in production any more, or maybe even the infamous "do a search" But of course I am not:lol: Here's his e-mail kocron@comcast.net
  6. I don't recall all of the details, but there were some previous discussions about this. There was mention of using an Arizona Ice Tea can for dipping. There were also some threads on making a POP insulators for the cans.
  7. You will like it, for sure.! Just a word of caution.....don't get it too hot too fast or it will tend to scorch. You will know because the "smoke in the color" will get a bit amber. The same goes with all of M-F's smoke pearl colors.
  8. Smoke Blue Pearl ready made in liquid is one of my favorites. It is available from M-F Manufacturing Co., Inc. - 817- 281-9488 / Fax 817-281-9498
  9. You might try crayons pastels candle coloring Try doing a search using those keywords. There were plenty of discussions and trials with all three. With the regular colorants available for soft plastics you should be able to come up with anything by mixing them.
  10. Not a problem. E-mail me your address. richard@152ndstreetbaits.com
  11. I use 2x3 inch bags with the white block across one side. They hold 10 5/0 frog hooks. I have in the past I have put inserts (67# stock paper)in them to show through the clear side. I believe they are $2 per hundred. I get them in the jewelry district Downtown Miami. I am actually going by there this afternoon if you'd like me to pick up some for you.
  12. M-F has Smoke Blue Pearl in the bottle. It is one of my best sellers.
  13. Which model Ironclad glove are you using?
  14. Click on the link in the first post. There's a great picture of the stand Finfever made. I think there are also dimensions/instructions for the stand on Bears Baits Calhoun Plastic Presto Pouring Pots. If you have a few molds and are not pouring very large amounts, then the molds should not get hot enough to warrant the use of gloves. You cannot beat the pot/stirring system for pouring sticks as the salt and plastic is constantly be mixed thus producing consistent and uniform baits. It also works great for making a nice batch of single color baits of any kind.
  15. more molds too!......and then another presto pot. Make sure you put a few bucks aside for the off fishing season. That's a good time to slip away for some intense therapy at your local rehab!
  16. Sift through all of the threads started by CrawChuck He has done many of these and I believe there are detailed instructions in there. I think the only real thing he hasn't molded was the mailman! http://www.tackleunderground.com/forum/search.php?searchid=837978&photoplog_searchinfo=1
  17. Thanks, but I can't take the credit. A buddy in my club mentioned using one quite a while ago. Sounds like it more than paid for itself already. Off to Home Depot I go!
  18. I have three of these Del-Mart Molds in perfect pouring shape. First ones to pay gets the molds. They are $85.00 each FREE Priority Mail Shipping Paypal only and please, I will not accept any e-checks. Payment may be sent to richard@152ndstreetbaits.com
  19. I'm glad mine bleeps. One time I was wondering why it didn't bleep. I looked over and saw I hit one too many zeros and was going to nuke some plastic for three hours. bleep on!
  20. He posted pictures of baits he made to show, but also posted pictures of baits showing and questioning fin placement. They were all put up together so I can understand thinking they were all just for show. Big Pancho, may I suggest posting the pictures of the trouble baits along with the problem you are having. I think you will find many of the swim bait people willing to help.
  21. I believe you can post pictures in the threads if it relevant to the discussion. I think some were as you were asking about the fins and making your bait swim right. As far as just showing off your work, I believe it has to go into the Gallery. I don't know why they just didn't delete some of the pics and/or contact you. There are some benefits to being a paid member. I'm not sure what they are other than unlimited PM's. I'm sure someone with more more knowledge will chime in. In the meantime.........welcome and ask away! Richard
  22. I just use a square pot holder when pouring with the Pyrex.
