  1. I just tried Bear's Candy Apple Red. It's Redbug in a bottle if anybody has been struggling with that recipe. Just add flake. I love it! I use to cringe when people ordered that color.
  2. There are several threads if you type in Durhams in the search. You make the molds basically in the same way as POP.
  3. Regards to PrinterTom. He is missed!
  4. Night fishing in the 'Glades this summer!
  5. My baits get tacky whether they are bagged or just siting in the aluminum pans. Very tacky almost to the point of being gummy. This was with SS as well as regular. The smell might be the plastic bags but I don't think the tackiness is.
  6. I usually flood the cavities with about a 50/50 mix, let it soak in for about 45 seconds or so and then pour it out. I repeat this a few times. I make sure my mold is bone dry before I seal.
  7. I would never have thought that it could be the plastic. I always thought it was what I added to it. Thanks for bringing it to our attention, Jim!
  8. My baits have been getting very tacky, whether bagged or not. I always thought that it was the scent because the scent that drips outside the bottle gets the same tackiness as well. I recently switched from M-F to Bear's Calhoun and it is not happening so far. I just went out to the garage and checked some baits (unbagged)I poured two weeks ago with the Calhoun. They seem to be just fine. They were soaking with some scent on them and they are not tacky at all. This makes me think that it was not the scent in the first place, but the plastic. I have other findings and comparisons with the two brands but I think that would be for another thread.
  9. I saw your baits up on ebay. They looked great! Way to go Tyler!!! You better make more molds:yay:
  10. Grinding fresh coffee beans and using in place of flake works well also. Watch for bleeding, though. There were several interesting threads on this a while back. I had some good success using it with Brown Watermelon baits.
  11. If you're referring to the scents used, I just saw it on Bear's site at Bears Baits Calhoun Plastic Presto Pouring Pots made by Upper Hand
  12. It sounds like more trouble than it's worth. How much money will it cost to prove you are right? It might end up being more in fees than profit in making the trailer. Just my opinion.
  13. Try contacting Steve. I've dealt with him before and was very pleased with his product, prices and communication. He's also a TU member. Elken Fishing Lures Home Page
  14. Pyrex makes a smaller one cup size that makes for easier pouring of smaller baits. If you still want to use the pans, you might try putting them on an electric griddle after transferring the plastic to the cup. You can find them at walmart for $20
  15. I get my copper from Frank SenkoSam's Glitter
  16. How much does 600 cost? You can get smaller quantities from Lurecraft.com
  17. Very feasible! One thing I would suggest is using the search feature to see what pouring method would best suit you. I would think the microwave would work best on your porch. You might want to order some Garlic Scent. It will mask the smell of the plastic and keep your neighbors from shutting you down! They'll just think you order a lot of pizza like any other college kid. Let us know how it goes.
  18. I tried the 2 sided tape last week. It worked great except I didn't trim around the bait and it was very difficult to get the resin to lift off the tile I poured it on. That just got me thinking. I remember as a kid growing up in NY, my parents used to use flypaper in the summertime. If they stilll make the stuff, I think it would work well. Almost like using the overpour method.
  19. I would try using a high fire clay. Shrinkage should only be about 12-15%. It should work just fine for a one sided mold. I wouldn't use glaze because it is too thick. I would just seal it with either 50/50 Elmers or thinned epoxy.
  20. M-F is easy to mix and is actually pourable by itself. It can be mixed with other brands of plastic as well
  21. I've tried the glass microspheres before but found it more trouble than they're worth. I don't know if it is the same offered by Lurecraft. It is not neccessary for this type of rigging. The plastic we use will float without a hook. So when rigged on a shakey head it will stand straight up. Just don't add salt. Try it in a sink or tub.
  22. I don't add anything but scent and flake to taste. This way the bait will tend to float up and not lay down.
