  1. This is the 2 1/2 gal pot not the 5 gal pot, and all that you mentioned plus all the wireing problems , I would think the wireing is more critical then the fittings, The best job done on this set-up is the mouse trap.
  2. I think it does have the normal aluminum connectors, And Yes I got it from LC My intentions were not to get it so I could look it over and send it back, I am sending it back because of many many reasons, It would be easier just to keep it then go to all the work of building one.
  3. LOL, I was checking it out better today as it gets picked up tomorrow, alot of wire connectors on this thing was loose, even the wire clamps to hold wires in the boxes was not even tightened up. The wire for the unit is a Teflon/Glass Hi-temp wire made for it and that came from the manufacture so it has to be safe, it was just the builder that was not. I have a Friend that is going to help me build one of these as he builds stuff for his Job, he drew up some nice plans. It will take us a bit to get it done and I will post pic's when completed We are thinking safety first and will enclose all the electrics. I am geek-ed.
  4. That tin box on the side of the pot that you can see and the wires coming out of it, it is 25 amps
  5. Hey Ted, Is your motor a DC motor ? or a split capacitor AC ? I was told unless you have a 3 phase AC motor it will not speed control well, This motor you have to turn it up to 7 before it kicks on then you can turn it down to 3 before it starts to slow but then a 1/8 turn more and it shuts off, I also just found out that the safety ceramic covers that were forgot to be put on, that if you were to touch the two prongs it would ( KILL ) you, it is worse then a laundry dryer, and the only thing that was a cover for these wires was a home made very, very, very thin tin box that was made out of 3 pieces that did not even seal up, a sqaure box on a round pan, ( very chintsy ) and deadly game. and to boot the wires were not even crimped down, Some people can say I am wrong to post about this pot but Man you just played with my life and that is not cool. I tracked down all the parts to make this thing so I will post my set-up after it is done. A few of the parts will be a few weeks on order.
  6. Sorry guy's use a DC motor, AC will not work correctly with a speed controller.
  7. No I did not use it, it has leaks and was not safe, He even forgot the ceramic covers for safety of the wires on the heat wrap, also he must have broken his wire crimper's, and lost his thread tape. Honestly I want the pot !! I know that thing will rock !! but I will not give the guy a chance to make another one for me if this is how my first one would come. I am trying to track down equipment to make my own. LC is having it picked up and refunding my $ He also wanted to save $ and used a AC motor on the unit with a spead controller that really does not work well, it had should have been a DC motor. I called the company that made the motor and they said that the speed controller and AC motors do not match well and you will get about a 10% decrease in speed controll.
  8. Well you guy's wanted me to give up-date. well I have nothing good to say EXCEPT the unit looks nice and Shawn at Lure Craft has been nice to deal with. The guy that built it is another story. I am having it sent back, a few minor problems with it along with one major, stripped out threads in the pot were the valve connects must cost extra, After this I am sure Shawn will make sure future pots will be well built for customers. I am very disapointed as this pot set-up will rock. I might try and build my own.
  9. Sorry Gator, Yes that would work. Anyone looking for a motor make sure you get one that is 80 to 100 RPM It can be DC or AC as long as it is a gear motor, with a variable speed controller. I will post more info about the motor when I get a chance.
  10. Wannabe, I made a paddle out of flat stock steel about 1" tall and almost as wide as the pot, Salt and glitter is not a problem. Gator, The longer the spout the harder to keep plastic from cooling in it. Mine does not cool so when I de-mold I go right back to pouring. This unit will be used now for two color pours as I am suppose to be getting my new pressure pot tomorrow. I got my pot off E-bay a year ago You can make one yourself you know.
  11. Here is my pics, sorry for short message, I have found my self doing 20 things at once latley, LOL
  12. I bought a DC gear motor and switch off e-bay, I will post pics as soon as I can, I have a 58 rpm motor, I think maybe it should have been closer to 85 rpm, mine suspends the salt like we all want but I need to work on my paddle to make it work better.
  13. I have one, but mine has the spout in the center bottom, I think ozarks is on the side, your really better off haveing one on the bottom, and building a stand to raise the pot so your pouring straight down, I can pour 100 worms a hr and that is with demolding and using 4 molds that have 4 pours each. I just hooked up a DC motor to stir mine and it still needs tweeking, I do not know if maybe it should have been a higher RPM gear motor yet or not. it is 58 RPM, or I might have to tweek on my stir paddle, so far I am father ahead with keeping the salt suspended, I need to take pictures of this thing again, my pot is hooked up with bells and whistles,
  14. I found that the amount of salt depends on your mixing equipment. The less stirring you do the more salt you will need, but then the bottom of your cup will be full of salt and plastic will be about wasted, I use to have to add 1/2 cup of salt to 1 cup of plastic, now that I have a DC motor hooked up to my presto pot I can get away with half that much salt. The amount of Salt also depends on what kind you are using.
  15. I have 1000 of the 1/0 32886BLN available, at least that is what I think they are, they are a lighter wire.
  16. Ya molds, dang it they are not cheap, My first delema was the cost of the pot, then it was like well if I get it then I will run out of plastic to fast, now it is molds to keep it running.
  17. Ya sick to my stomach as well, I just could not get the results I wanted with salt so this thing better take my pain away, LOL I do not get it until tuesday next week then setting it up and such.
  18. I got my mold today, anyone looking to order the injection mold That is what I ordered, I am haveing problems with it, I do not know what yet, it is a 10 pour and I am injecting it with a cyring and being a 10 pour might be a bit much for it, I am thinking the plastic is cooling to fast before it has a chance to finish the deal, if I inject it too fast I end up with cuts in the bait about 1/2" down from nose, if I slow down I end up with air pockets at that point. I just ordered the preasure pot from LC so we will see what that does for it. Here is a link to save on the board files. http://www.pvccages.com/id164.htm
  19. Just ordered the 2 1/2 gal pressure pot from LC, and 55 gals of SS from MF, I will let you guy's know how it works out.
