sorry about that above, just was mad and I cannot keep my mouth shut. Just was mad after spending almost 2 hrs. trying to pour 1 cup of plastic.

Holy cow Jim, That is a lot of softner What plastic are you using, : P.s. Just got back in from trying that dang lee pot again, I ended up drilling the hole out and now it finally works. LC never got back with me about that thing. I would never give them a good rating. This is not the only thing with them. You would think that with someone that spent over $400 with them in around a week with 3 or 4 orders that they would respond. I asked for a catalog a few times, they miss read my order and I was shorted, then something was not clear on thier website and I got something opp. of what I wanted. Was told a order would go out next day, 3 days later they shipped. Finally got my catalog after the last order. I am hoping I never need anything special from them. Maybe they will see this and wont sell to me then I would not have to worry about it. Sorry for my rambling, As you can tell I am pissed about these things. Customer service is #1

Saint, I was intersted in this as well as you know, I am still testing but this is what I know so far, I need to add 4 TBS of canning salt to 4 oz of plastic to get the same drop speed of a yamy, Today I weighed this and 4 TBS of canning salt weights 52 grams, The sugar from senko sam is half that weight so it would take 8 TBS of sugar to get the same weight, I have a water softner so I ground up some salt and found that I only need 3 TBS of rock salt to be the same weight, it also has improved the transpariency ALOT. The first round the rock salt was not ground up enough and needed stiring all the time as it wanted to sink in my cup, then I ground it more and it worked awsome, I am going to try again and try to get in between the two grinds and I know it will even be better yet for the transpariency, but even now it is very close to haveing the same trans, of the yamy. Does anyone know the weight of popcorn salt ?
-
Adding the salt before cooking solved the problem. Now I have a Different salt question. I am trying to match Yamamoto baby bass, I matched the color very close and even matched the transpariency exactly, then I realized the fall in water was not the same. so I added more salt, needed to add 4 TBS of salt to 4 oz plastic to have the exact same fall, but now I lost the transpariency, I used 4 TBS of straight crystal canning salt, (not ground ) How can I keep the weight but get a clearer bait ? Bigger salt crystals ? I came real close with the mixture of 4 oz plastic 2 caps softner 1 cap heat stabalizer 25 drops green pumpkin 15 drops amber 2 drops kudzo less then a 1/16th of black and gold halogram flake each. Still needs tweeking .

Thanks for your help. I probably do not have the best mixer but this was done in my crock pot and I have a drill and mixer hooked up, I think I need to run the salt through a sifter or screen strainer or something because if I add it say with a pinch of salt, it stays that way, will not break apart, And I tried to pour my sticks with it anyway seeing it was in the plastic well when running the drill / mixer it would push the salt clumps right to the hole and clog it, if I shut the mixer off then I could pour with min, clogging My mixing blade is 3/8" off the bottom of my pot. And when I run the mixer very slow on a dimmer switch it will make the plastic swirl around the spout as it comes out, I need to experiment more and thought I had the mixer as slow as I could go. will find out with more tests, Should I raise the blade off the bottom some more ? it is a straight blade with slightly bent ends and about 1" tall blade with no holes in it yet.

I ground up canning salt today and it was powder, I put it in heated plastic and it clumped up and clogged my pouring tip. anyone have that ?

It is a 60 cc / 3 oz, I sucked up 1 oz to pour the 4 cavities . I did order a stainless one but it is 7 oz, as that is all I could find. Does stainless hold heat better ?

Bought Pearl powder, but what do I do with it?
Predator Bass Baits replied to NuttyGambler's topic in Soft Plastics
When you say watermellon do you mean Watermellon watermellom brown, watermellon green. to many watermellons in the patch and a few recipies out there do not clarify, I realize it is wa, green, but just checking as I cooked up a recipe that did not state exactly and it was probably not the right watermellon. -
I sucked up about 1/8 cup of plastic in it and After I shot off 4 grubs the plastic was almost cool and It just pulled out the end and was clean, Will see what the stainless one does.

I checked the one out at bass pro, that will not work as it is a needle, it does need to have a ball end or at least a big point, the plastic one I am useing is about 1/4 round at the tip so it fit in the mold spout snug so no air or plastic passed by. I would have to go and look but it is about 120 cc or bigger ( about 4 oz full )

Just like injecting a turkey, I stuck the tip in the hole and squeezed lightly, you will feel it needing more preasure and then just let off a bit and pull the syringe out and finish the top off as you come out. I did it 10 times now with perfect baits everytime. The air is pushed out the sides of the mold as it is not a air tight mold.

Bassman, Bob said he would make me one, ( two part mold ), I think it might need to injected to fill the tail, will not know until I try it. I asked for him to build it but did not hear back from him yet.

Lee production pot question (Now using it )
Predator Bass Baits replied to Predator Bass Baits's topic in Soft Plastics
I think it is #111, it is the smaller one. It will only pour a straight fast stream right at burning point, had it pouring great and bam 20 sec later it was over, I do not have a cander therm yet but have a ratec gun that has worked great for me. I can only pour even out of a cup around 350 I will be getting a candy therm next time I try it. I did get your messages, sorry I have been busy. -
Anyone know were I can get a Stainless Steel syringe ? I used a plastic one today with my 3 K and 5 K combo 2 piece grub mold from del and it worked perfect, I was about to sell that mold because I could not pour the tail without pouring the tail first, I am a happy camper now. There is one on ebay but across the pond and it would be about $45 shipped.

Lee production pot question (Now using it )
Predator Bass Baits replied to Predator Bass Baits's topic in Soft Plastics
I tried it again, I did have better luck after the 2nd burnt pot, I filled it but it needed to be at 7 to 8 to flow, and right at the burning point is were it flows the best, I got the pot name wrong, it is a precision pot not a production pot, -

Weasle, what plastic are you using ? I am using cal. I have to have it up to 9 when full and down to 7.5 when half full, and it still will not pour a straight continous stream, I have not used salt in it but use .35 flake I have even taken the rod right out trying to see if it would pour a steady stream and it wont continously, gets clogged with flake I guess, I stired it every min. or 2 depending on the size mold I used. it will take 2 min. to pour a 7 1/2" deep lizzard with a flat fat tail. -

Thanks Jim, Just from using them I cannot see how it would get much better, sure if it streamed good all the time it could be, but after using my crock pot I do see that the lee pot could never be that good, If the lee pot had a bigger hole and you could adjust the thickness of how it comes out then it would be good I think, it is just to time consuming to use them. Anybody ever drill the tip out bigger ? By the way. how do you mix with the stay warm pot ? and how do you pour the rest of your baits if you only use it for 2 things ? I considered getting one but am not going to jump right in like I did with the lee pots. -
Lee production pot question (Now using it )
Predator Bass Baits replied to Predator Bass Baits's topic in Soft Plastics
I figured out how not to burn the plastic, but I want to pour some baits in a timely mannor, you will not do that with a lee pot that's for sure. Crock pot version blowes the lee pot out of the water. Do you need a couple more lee pots then ? I emailed LC and told them of my dissatisfaction with lee pots but they never responded back. Sure am glad there is other companies out there. -
You won't be able to steal the wardens pot and return it without a fight, LOL Check this link out and then see if it answers any of your questions http://www.tackleunderground.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=7340 I do have pictures of mine up as well as someone else's idea.

Can I use the Name ( Preditor soft plastic baits ) for a business name ?

Butter ball and garlic/ salt to taste.

It is harder to pour sticks out of a pyrex you need to re fill after about the 3rd stick, goiing with a crock pot like I did in the turkey fryer link works alot better, you almost never need to re-fill

Lee production pot question (Now using it )
Predator Bass Baits replied to Predator Bass Baits's topic in Soft Plastics
Well I tried, Did not burn it this time but it took 1 1/2 hrs to pour 1 1/2 cups out of it. You can open it up like I did ( took the rod right out of it ) trying to get it to pour faster, you can pour a small chunk and have time to walk out to the mail box and back just in time to pour the tail, and I live 250 ft of the road, It took 2 mins for a 7 1/2" lizzard to pour. I ended up having to crank it up to 9 just so it got up to 340 deg. and held there somewhat, it would drop about 20 deg and then boost back up again. I put 2 cups of plastic in it so it was full. -

Box says lead melter but lee pot has a sticker on the stand that says something like start at lowest temp to not burn plastic. I will give it another try with heating the plastic first, I am not looking foward to it, LOL I just came in from pouring a qt of plastic out of my crock pot and poured 100 worms in a hour. Ran it slow, I could open the valve a little more I am sure. I also built a slide that holds the molds correctly in line so you just push the molds like a train, 100 for 100 on the worms, not a bad one in the bunch, ( I was not pouring worms with the lee pot) Thanks guy's for your suggestions. -
Lee production pot question (Now using it )
Predator Bass Baits replied to Predator Bass Baits's topic in Soft Plastics
I got my crock pot, only used it once and it worked sweet, thought I would try the lee pots so I could easily do two color pours, heck I cannot even do a one color pour with them. I cannot belive that they even sell something like that and some people say they could not live without it. LOL Jim, how do you stir your plastic with that stay warm ? I contacted them about the stay warm pots but they do not come with auto stirrers
