With Bass wood I would go with the screw eyes. I would Drill a slightly skinnier hole in the wood then pus some Devcon 2 Ton Epoxy on the screw eye and screw it in. I think Bass wood is hard enough to use the screw eyes, but with wood like balsa wood its a must to make a through wire. Post some pictures when your done. Good Luck, nice to hear from a new maker.

I need to epoxy, and I live in a dorm. I was wondering if there is any epoxy or some sort of final coat I could put on my bait. I dont want to be sniffing thhe junk all day, so I need something that maybe you can use inside. Any ideas or is there nothing I can do?

Is there any way to paint scales with a brush? I tried the netting on an old one and it all ran together. Any one have any ideas? Or is there a way I could do a blue gill pattern without scales, and with a brush? Thanks for any suggestions.

What would happen if I had a deep diver lip, and used a line tie on the wooden bait, instead of on the lip? I have not done to much crankbait making, and I dont wanna do it if it wont work. Thanks for all the help so far guys.

looks good, I killed bass last year on a spinnerbait like that, with a zoom twin tail grub trailer. What size blade is that? I used a #7. -
I dont have an air brush, and I am in college, so cant afford a decent one. I need to use a brush and tube paint. Any one else have to do this? I have all kinds of trouble getting a decent paint job. Any tips or any ideas of paint jobs for top water walking lures? Thanks

Ok, I am looking to make a spook type bait. I was thinking of using either a Bass Wood Dowel, or some balsa wood. What do you guys think? I also need to know where I need to put weight in it, and a rattle. Should the wight go in the back? Thanks
