  1. Would you describe how you do the R bends on the twisttech?
  2. I answered my own question last nite - turned on my heatgun - on medium, one setting below where I normally paint with - held the wire/hook form in front of it for 5 or so seconds, put it in my spinnerbait mold that had been setting on top of the lead pot... had the first perfect pour I've seen in a long time. Sometimes its the simple thing - I had _never_ warmed up the hooks/wire before and would fight to get a good pour - 1 out of 5 might be "good enough". Thank you tackleunderground, you saved the day!
  3. I have my painting oven near my lead pot - what temp range are we looking at to pre-heat the inserts? Low on a crock pot seems to be around 225F in my head.

    Giggy head mold

Take a 'Worm Nose Jig' (mushroom) head mold and re-orient the hook... that's all a Giggy Head is. I don't know of any ready made molds out there.
  5. Nope - you ordered the Hagen's - I'm willing to bet my favorite Jig Skirt recipe that they just typo'd the name on the website!
  6. yeah, those videos show only the bare basic spinner - not even a spinnerbait form! I'm hoping there are better resources out there! Thanks!
  7. So, I recently picked up a Hagen's Wire bender, (yesterday in fact) - and have mostly figured out how to make a spinnerbait form and the little spinners.... other than learning how to ruin straight wire (which is quite easy) - I'm having trouble learning how to make more complex things - Like a twisted wire spinnerbait form - for example. I also want to be able to make a 'clasp' of sorts, similar to what you would find on a 'Beatle Spin'. Are there any good sites with instructions/diagrams on how to make more shapes with it? Also, is the bulk wire as easy to use? I bought a bunch of straight wire shafts to start with...
  8. I use a drill bit to clean the holes - seems quicker to me. I am also using a product called "GOOP" to glue in the gaurds.
  9. So far, I've gotten over 200 with my tube of GOOP - and i've still got plenty... Got the tip from this board, and haven't looked back!
  10. If you're not comfortable modding - Do-it released a new mold that may interest you - http://www.barlowstackle.com/acb/showdetl.cfm?&DID=6&Product_ID=2854&CATID=59
  11. ITs actually a 60, and you'll have to modify the Do-It tube jig mold to get it, at least that is what I did... you want the Mustad 32729 hook.
  12. Nope, never arrived... checked paypal, and the money was still 'unclaimed' as of today, since i got no response from tehm whatever to email, I canceled the payment. Let us know if you get yours... I have little patience these days.
  13. Just ordered it, when I get it, I'll let you know... design of it is certainly promising, and just about anything has to be better than the simple tool that Stamina (et al) sell. One of these days I'll spring for the bench type tool... but $120 seems pricy.
  14. cadman, ordered it from http://www.drfun.com/SkirtMaster/ , cost was $20.... I plan to use it with the tabbed material, any tips on that?
  15. I just ordered one, any and all tips are welcome -
  16. Silly is irrelivant. They own the trademark to "Mushroom Jig Head", and they claim that he is infringing upon that trademark using "Mushroom" with any related product. While I think the claim is stretching, they are well within thier rights to defend thier trademark (that;s the whole reason you get them). He has two choices: 1.) change the name 2.) argue it/defend his usage of it and why it does not infringe, or why the trademark they have chosen is indefensible (claim that the term "Mushroom Jig" is synonymous with the head style so as to make it a generic term for the shape/style of the head, etc...)... but those things cost money... probably alot of money for a "side line business". They have no choice but to defend the trademark, because if they do not, the eventually lose the ability to, and then the mark becomes useless. IOW, if they let him slide, that becomes evidence for the next guy to slide, and so forth. And, the mold that is sold by by Do-It is a "Worm Nose Jig" - not a "Mushroom Head Jig"...further backing up thier claim (took me forever to figure out that was the same darn head!)
  17. Rivverat, It's not a patent dispute, its a trademark. They claim (in the text provided) that you cant use the word "Mushroom" with any fishing related product. I think they are stretching there... but then, I am not a lawyer.
  18. I think they've over stated it... they can't trademark the use of the word "Mushroom"... they have trademarked "Mushroom Head Jig" specifically. Mushroom Jig 'would be close enough', but can't say if it would hold up in court (I am not a lawyer). Its not about the head, its about the name. Do-Its mold is called "Worm Nose Jig".
  19. I only make baits for SimWifes and my usage - and a very few select friends, but I think you mistook my comment about 'identical' to mean that I was copying existing baits...or advocating copying. What I meant was that many of us use the same Do-It Molds, paint with the same powder paints, if we get skirt material much of it comes from the same place, we use the same hooks the majority of the time. The difference, for me, is in confidence and the enjoyment of putting togehter 'our' baits... our skirt combos, etc... even if the bait I am throwing is an 'exact duplicate' of a model on the market (head design, hook, wire, colors, etc...) it would still be 'better' simply because I made it instead of buying it off the shelf. hope that clears that up.
  20. Not to sound snarky... they're different cause I make them... that's good enough for me. I have complete control over every facet of the bait we use... I don't really care if it is identical or not to everyone elses... mine still catch more fish!
  21. ahh... yep... found that one and ordered it myself....I wish they would do the same as they did with the "shakey head" mold and make this one (and the smaller sized one) take both hooks, and the larger weed gaurd.
  22. How bout a link to that particular mold? I can't find a football head that takes the flat eye hooks. Thanks

    Dremel bit

hey cadman... where do you get your bits from... the 99 series is tough for me to find locally...
  24. Seconded on the screw lock... much more secure hold on the plastics without as much damage.
