I like to trade baits, especially with members here, I feel like I get some of the best baits going, from some of the best people around...
I recently traded with a fellow not too long ago, jigs for jigs, he had a mold, which I was curious about, and I had the Poison Tail, which he was interested in, so I fixed him up two jigs, and about a dozen lead heads for him to finish.
In return, I got a few done heads, and a handfull of baits for me to finish, all was well.
I was looking around the web, and saw the exact two baits I had sent this guy being re-gifted to another person, in the context that he made them. Not knowing what to do, and giving them the benefit of the doubt...I didn't invent the jig or the paintjob, that's for sure, but these jigs were the same that I sent, I posted on the forum that these jigs looked familiar, nothing else!
I get an email from the guy in about an hour, telling me that he's been experimenting with scale patterns (that's what I put on them, similar to the strike king jigs), and wanted more help. I saw this as back-pedaling, didn't respond, and haven't heard from him since.
I just don't understand how another luremaker could do that, I sent those to him to use, not to pass off as his own! I would understand if I sent him some Crappie gear, and he didn't fish for them, or something like that, but not to pass it off as his own!
Oh well, I really like to trade, but I suppose I'll have to be more careful in the future.
