  1. you could use .029 with a closed eye instead of an r-bend. I have not used that heavy of a SB on that small of wire. I use it for 1/2 oz. baits. If that is too small I know .032 would work.
  2. All the above are right but just think of the holeshot it has. lol
  3. Just like to get to know home folks while visiting the website. Get to know you by your login and swap stories and fishing reports with.
  4. I think the reason for using the mcmaster wire is because it is straight rather than the loops you get from the tackle warehouses. Never tried the straight stuff, always used the looped stuff. I have'nt thought about different types of stainless don't know if it makes a difference or not. gonna have to try that out. I feel like the diameter of the wire is the most important thing rather than the composition of the wire. If you use .029 wire with a closed loop I promise you will catch fish on it. You just need to make a bunch of them due to breakage
  5. I shake the powder paint right out of the container it comes in. It takes some practice but I get good even coverage, no paint on the hook or the wire. I have not tried the fluid beds yet. Would like to borrow someones before I bought one.
  6. I clean the eyes of my jigs with a toothpick before the final bake. Never had a problem with cut line.
  7. This is what I use as rule of thumb and it has never been a problem for me. Jigs and plastic worms (Texas Rig or Carolina Rig) palomar knot. Spinnerbaits and crankbaits Trilene knot. If it's not broke don't fix it.
  8. I have never liked braid. The only time I use it when I am fishing the grass mats on lake Guntersville. The rest of the time I use 15 lb Big Game exclusively. I know that alot of people like it but it is not for me.

    Reel ?

Got a buddy of mine that has the middle Revo and he loves it. I, myself like the round reels. Can't get used to this lo-profile stuff. Been throwing baitcasters since I was 12 years old (about 27 years) . The round reels fit my hands better. Used abu garcia for ever, just have started using the Shimano Calcuttas and love them. I still use the first baitcaster I ever owned ambassedeur 5500C. they sure don't make them like that anymore. How many reels that you bought new today, could you still use in tournaments thity years later.
  10. I buy the wire from janns or stamina in the loops, so I know what you are talking about. This may sound a little primative but I staighten it by hand. never had a problem. I have been making my own spinnerbaits for about 15yrs and i have always straightend mine by hand . Ledhed has a good idea with the wire from mcmaster carr, I'm sure it is the wire the welders use for filler.
  11. the key is your wire. used the smallest you can get away with. I like .029 wire with a closed loop. You need to make alot of them due to breakage but man do they catch alot of fish. One more piece of advice, get your mold pretty hot for even pouring. Hope this helps, let me know how every thing comes out.

    Clown Spinnerbait

nice very nice might have to try that myself. Im very impressed.
  13. spnrbatr, how do you get that crackel paint look?

  14. funny someone should mention carp. I caught a carp on a tiny torpedo once. It weighed about 8 lbs. Thought I would never get that thing reeled in. The only carp bite I have ever had. I think.
  15. if they are being advertised on an infomercial don't waste your money.
