  1. Mountain Man Can you show us a quick picture of what it looks like? Sounds neat. I am guesssing you're talking about power for plastic bait molding and not power paint, correct?
  2. I have a DN question and don't want to start another clear coar thread! I would like to use it, but only make my own baits and not many of them. The DN always ruins after I use it no matter what I do. I ordered some BLOXYGEN about 8 months ago and after about 2 months they said they were out and would credit my Paypal account. Guess they did, don't know. About 8 weeks ago I got an email from them saying I could order. I did and I haven't heard frrom them since. They don't have a dealer anywhere close to me and I wondered if anyone else is having problems geting it or is it just me. I really would like to try DN, but need a way not to waste so much. I've tried the suggestions on the site in the search engine without success.
  3. My dock frogs use them to look like legs. I used the umbrella skirt things.
  4. By the way - I don't think I would do it with the charcoal bag if I used auto paints and a lot of lacqure spray paint.
  5. I only use water based paints, but a lot of solvents and D2T as welll as Etex. My booth uses a bathroom exaust fan ($ a flexable dryer tubing ($3) into a bag of charcoal. I use it in my graage with being able to vent to the outside. I have a small filter (6x6) over the fan. Works great - no odors or fumes. My whole booth set cost less than $15.
  6. Wade, I'm not the best for sure, but I use several colors at a time by using a squirt bottle (like a plastic picnic mustard bottle) with a nozzel to squirt through the gun with 95/5/3 solution as I change colors. This cleans the old paint and sorta primes the new color. I spray on a cardboard piece until the solution is clear. It works for me.

  8. I too love lipless cranks. I have now TOTALLY changed my search bait from rattle traps to a blank that Mike Vann sells here on the TU site. His lipless rounded shape from Mavrik Lures is now my #1 search bait. I have several colors I like, but using the blanks with it's pearl finish it comes with is pretty good too. Maverik Lures # 353 falls better than a shimmy shad. He has several others, but try it.
  9. Boy, have you ever burst my bubble! I thought the TU members WERE the high council of tackle makers!
  10. rlcam I have many times painted, cleared with 2T and fished within 24 hours. the baits are still holding up welll. I warm the 2T in the syringe with a sunlamp light and it goes on fairly thin and easy. The pre-heat helps with bubbles as well. Then turn for 1 hour and back under the light for about 2 hours. Then I take it inside where the humidity is less for overnight. Add water and fish. I think the heat lamp ($5.00) is a great help in managing bubbles, making the 2T eaiser to apply, and drying and curing it.
  11. It sounds like you may have sprayed your screen accidentally with OFF or a similar bug repellent with strong deet in it. I has it happen to me and it looks like small droplets that are almost salt like. The only way I recovered was to wash it over and over again with plain water. It took almost a month of doing it once or twice a week to get it totally clear again. I would be reluctant to use a lot of strong stuff that may cut into the lexan itself and cause a permanent problem. The same can happen to your guages and any faux wood panels on your dash covered with lexan.
  12. Apple Barrel Glow in the Dark or Anita's GLOW Craft Paint works well over a good white basecoat.

    Crackled paint

When I started with the Crackle thing I was trying to work out a way to paint baits like JAMAL does with all the mixed color swirls. Does anyone know how that is done? He hasn't decided to share the secret yet, but someone here will figure it out I'm sure. I thought the crackle would work well for crayfish looking baits, but would love to see other ideas.

What I have is FolkArt under $2 at Hobbby Lobby. 4 oz bottle #695 Don't worry how the crackle coat looks. It is not a clear coat like the final Devcon. You're going to cover over it ant that layer of paint will crack. It;s made for acrylic paint not vinyl or lacquer. BJ's got - just give it about 15 minutes then spray the second color.

BJ take a close look at that Spring Crawfish rattle trap in the pocture I attached on the comment and tell me what you think. I wanted to make it look more like a craw and added a strand of rubber skirt as well as putting the eyes on the back so it moves like a craw. I caught a lot on it this spring, and I'm now working on a summer one.

  20. My 'ol grandad said that minnows are for catching fish. Jerk baits are for catching fishermen. I never argued with grandad.

    Crackled paint

VMAXX I got mine at Hobby Lobby. It is a small one bottle solution found in the scrapbooking section. I heard about it on TU. The one I have, you just paint the base (I use createx for all) Then paint over it with the crackle paint. Let dry Paint top color (again createx) The cracking begins as soon as the second spray coat starts to hit.

    Crackled paint

Is this the kind of crackle you are loking for? I'm not sure if there are kinds of crackle or not, but this is done with the scrapbooking stuff from hobby lobby that ladies use to crackle pcitures. Easy to do, base coat, crackle paint (dip, brush or spray, top color. I used createx paint.
