Tucker Gama doesn't make a EWG in a flat eye 60 although Mustad does....... the above mention of the 60 gama 614 hook is a round bend in a light wire flat eye and the 594 is that hook in the heavy wire both great hooks but are round bends.
I use a skill saw with old carbide tip blade does great, cut down both side then a small wedge and hammer will pop the chunk right off, I get large blocks of soft lead at will from local boat company they use the blocks for ballast in sailboats hulls. GREAT LEAD..........
Alumiulite Quick set will do the trick to ya you can get maybe 500 pours on big jigs before it goes bad, you can go to there wed site and they have video that walks you thru it........... also LC does make molds at a reasonable price, theres would get alot more pours. I think Shawn gets around $40 on a signal pour mold.......
Hawnjigs ............ you said it..........you get what you pay for, for my company it is Gama or nothing, I won't chince on a hook and my customers wouldn't like it either.
I have fish and have built jigs for near 30 years now and the best by far for heavy cover is the bullet head jig. I do modify Do-it molds to take a flat eye it seems the flat eye will come OVER debri alot better, as far as hook setting and flat eye has a more positive hookset then a reg eye. I use all Gama hooks so can't point you to a good Mustad, I use the Gama 48414 which is an awesome hook nice wide gap and a strong hook, just my 2 cents worth.
the wire is not going to add any weight at all........ we are talking about a piece of wire when said and done and inch long at most and at 28 gauge, NOTHING AT ALL you would ever notice, your skirt will weigh more............
Same as below fishingskirts.com, I just had some custom colors done by Charlie, of just what your looking for and in a couple different shades of Greenpumpkin. Any questions PM me.
Go to fishingskirts.com and talk to Charlie he is now carrying it, it is called Thin Cut/Thin Sheet. I have used it for years about 75% of my sales of jigs are in the TC/TS and Charlie has a great line of colors avaliable now.
I have searched and not found so will ask , What is the best thing to use to CLEAN your cork handles at the end of the year, I have seen where guys have them look like NEW each beginning of season ???????
thanks in advance, for you input
I am looking for a source to buy jerk baits in the 5-7 inch size bodies that are unglued together......????? Wanting to build from Scratch......?????
Thanks in advance
I use 28 gauge Anealed wire it is black in color and very strong yet thin, I cut a peice about 3 inches long, wrap it around twice and pull it tight with needle nose on each end and twist a half hitch to hold it then simply take each end in each hand and twist it about 5 times and cut, bend twisted tag over against your wrap and your GTG.
your clips will FLOAT on top of the melted lead use a laddle or like mentioned above a large spoon to skim the top of the melted lead and dip them up, lay them into a cake pan of sorts until cool and discard them.
I have used one for cleaning my reels as well as customers reels for years now and also use Simple Green and I have had NO PROBLEMS at all, BUT I only leave parts in less than a minute, DO NOT LEAVE PARTS IN OVER NIGHT ! ! ! ! ! ! or you will be buying new............ you will find you get a deeper clean than any other way.
CAN'T compete with that price...... above he stated he lost $1300 on 16K hooks that's what I was referring to, like the old saying says, if it appears to good to be true, then stay away if not, HANG ON.
If your buying hooks in that large of quanity you would be wiser in going direct with gama. depending on the hook but that pricing range is about the same as I am paying direct on most jig hooks, and a whole lot safer.
