  1. Glad that worked out Dave. I normally used vaseline but sounds like I need to try the floor wax. The heat of the compounds does melt the vaseline and cause it to soak in some, so I do have to pry on the halves some which has caused a few molds to break. Sounds like your floor wax may be the cure. Thanks for testing and posting the results. Mike
  2. I have the 4in and also had Bob cut me a 3in mold. Both are great!

    Short Fused

Ted In my area we have battery specialty stores (Batteries Plus) that keep them on hand
  4. Get your plasticine as close as possible, bake it, then sand to your final shape
  5. I rhiink you're talking about Jerry's (redg8r) bait. It's in his gallery
  6. is it available anywhere else? I have looked at Lowes and they don't seem to know what I'm talking about.
  7. Just an idea from another site I am a member at, paying member's screen names are a different color. Like the admins are here.
  8. Hey Redfin You should dip your jig in your color then return to your heat source for a second or two then clear coat and cure. After both coats are on they can be cured at the same time, just make sure you have nice thin coats or they will sag. try posting this question over in 'wire baits' I'm sure you'll get more responses. Senkosam is talking about flake in plastic baits

    POP mold

You can do a search or just look back at some of the old threads. There have been quiet a few the past few weeks. They will probably answer any question you have. If there's something you can't find, don't hesitate to ask. Maybe I'll talk to Spike a Pike and see what he needs for a tutorial. You out there Bruce???

    POP mold

Just to get it dry the first time Let your masters sit in the mold overnight, then take them out and dry in the oven. The last one I made, I mixed about 25 percent elmers glue with the water. IIRC Vodkaman posted this tip to keep the finished mold from being chalky. Make sure the water is cold, mix in the glue then mix in the dry plaster until it is about as thick as cake batter. After taking the masters out I baked the mold for about six hours @ 200 deg. After it cooled I coated it with Devcon thinned with alcohol. It took three coats, letting each coat dry for at least two hours. Hope this helps. Show us how it turns out.

    Go-To Baits

I normally throw a TX rig worm or creature this time of year. What is your go-to bait for largemouth or spotted/Kentucky bass during the summer months?
  12. Good job You can also use a heat gun to remove the brush marks in the vaseline
  13. I wouldn't use dish soap on RTV molds. It will remove the oils and dry out the mold
  14. I tried a 2pc with resin once and had problems. I used vaseline between the halves but it still stuck in a few places. I eventually got it apart, but busted one of the cavities. Also the resin will shrink and warp which caused the halves not to match up very well. I would probably recomend sticking with POP for 2pc molds. Another thing you can do for 2pc molds is, mix about 75 percent Bondo body filler with 25 percent resin. Use the liquid hardner that comes with the resin instead of the cream hardner that comes with the body filller. This will allow the mix to be pourable and will extend the cure time some as well as controll some of the shrinking and warping. It may be necessary to put on one coat of sealer, but still faster than POP. You can brush on the resin by it's self to seal (with hardner of coarse).
