  1. I have always used medium viscosity Super Glue on the backs of my 3-D eyes. I just dip a spinnerbait wire or paper clip into the glue, and place a VERY small amount, not even a drop, into the eye recession, and then I use the very tip of an exact-o knife, slide it under the eye then set it into the recession. press down gently with the OTHER end of the Exact-O knife and wa-la. You will knock all the paint off the jig (I powder coat and bake) long before the eyes come off!!
  2. Interesting....if a person were wanting to pou a 'bigger' bait and get the weight down....hmmmmmm
  3. +1 !! I use a masons chisel and a 3# hammer.... works awesome!
  4. The ONLY apprehension I have is the "waterproof" qualities. It has to be tougher than not having a clear coat at all over lacquer based paints I would think. Nonetheless, it is just a touch less durable than urethane. I have considered the Euro 2 part urethanes as they are a simple 1-1 ratio and I can mix it in small quantities and dip much cheaper than $47.00/pint!!
  5. Guys, I refinish furniture furniture and have begun to play with painting my own baits. I have read numerous posts on Dick Nite's finish, Target sc9000, etc. I have pondered the thought of using clear gloss conversion varnish for a clear coat on my baits. I have sprayed it on conference tables and bar tops and it levels like glass! I am going to try some on some old baits and a few knock off baits I bought from Predator. I am going to mix it in small quantities and then dip the baits. This finish does have a catalyst and I really do not want to spend the time cleaning my gun(s)! WHEN I figure out how to post pictures of my experiments, I will share them with you. Any thoughts...suggestions? -Terry
  6. Guys, I buy mine from Eastwood. BE CAREFUL though!! There are different formulations and if mixed, the results may not be favorable! Their prices blow Pro-Tec out of the water, and I was told by a local powder painter that he can beat their prices!! Ask around in your home town...you may be surprised!! http://www.eastwood.com/
  7. How may would you like? I have the aspirin head mold.
  8. After cleaning the 1/8th. hole out with a reaming tool, I use 1 SMALL drop of medium viscosity "Super" glue on the end of the weedguard.. The brand does not really matter here. I have tried them all and use whatever I have on hand. I own a furniture repair business and we use Mohawk products so... I use their brand. I have used Jet, Zap-A-Gap and many others and they all work wonderfully, and set up super fast. I like medium because it does not creep as bad as thin does. I have had soft fiberguards turn very stiff from the glue wicking up the fibers!! The heavy visc, works good but takes a bit longer to set up, but the advantage is: it will not wick up the fibers!!
  9. I would just like to find someone to buy "poured" heads from and tie my skirt ideas onto their heads! I pour enough to keep myself in jigs and other baits, but would like to offer up some jigs for guys who want some budget jigs, that cannot afford custom hand pours. Just a thought.
  10. I am very interested as well!! I pour my jigs but guys are wanting some "budget" jigs and I cannot afford to pour for what they want to pay! So....I would like to find a manufacturer who would pour 100's for me, and I can put skirts on for them. I would also like to find someone who can pour "MY" custom jig in quantities after I get the head and weedguard comb the way I want it. Any thoughts?

    Tube Swimmer

Good looking bait. I saw the Del-Mart mold for this bait the other day... the guy just got it. I am considering making my own mold after looking HIS over real well. Thoughts?
  12. Do any of you have a formula SIMILAR to Zume's(SP) "dirt"?

    Poison Tail Jig

Hand tyed 1/4 ounce with 2/0 hook and 3-D eyes
  14. I buy my pads from Skirts Plus and have always got good service. Their prices are great, if you don't mind dropping the $100.00 minimum!
  15. I have to agree with Cadman. I cure ALL of my jigs, whether they are intended for customers or not. I like the results I get from two-tones that have been baked. I primarily pour wire weedguards into my jigs, but when I do fiber, they are glued in AFTER I tie my skirts on. I just find it easier to tie jigs w/o the weedguard(fiber) in place.
  16. I'll see if I can find one of my catalogs, as they have the actual diameters of the shank(s) of most of the jig hooks. Give them a call. The guys at Barlow's are great to deal with. They can give you a TON of info on the hooks and other items you may need.
  17. Owner's 5318 should work, as well as the 604 or 114 from Gammie. Try going to Barlow's site www.barlowstackle.com I believe they have a comparison of hook sizes and wire diameters.
  18. Cool deal. When do we get to see some?
  19. I like to rig them on a Mustad 91786 wide gap hook w/ hitchiker and skip them under boat docks. They also make darn good trailers.
  20. Funny. I just poured some of these today...in 1/8 ounce! I put plumber's putty in the weedguard hole, just to where it meets the head. I then lay my STRAIGHT wire in the putty. I almost for got, I put a very small kink in the end of the wire so it won't pull out of the head. Pour the jig, take a pair of pliers and wrap(twist) the wire around a small finish nail and wah lah.Cut off the excess wire and you are ready to paint the head. When I get it perfected, I will post pics in the gallery.
