Auto Air Waterbased Adhesion issue
MR KNOW IT ALL KIND OF replied to JRBrownings's topic in Hard Baits
Ok i will be bold and to the POINT!!!.. so dont take this as an attack on you personally.. Its really an attack on Krylon...Krylon in my personal opinion..whatever that is worth..STINKS!.. Their I said it..It doesnt hold up worth a flip... The paint hasnt been the same since Johnny BENCH RETIRED!!! Go to an automotive supply store and get some Nason Primer 421-24.. a Dupont product. Steps. 1. Scuff lure with 400 sand paper just take off shine 2. Wash off the dust with soap and water 3. Get you some bulldog adhesion promoter at that same store.. lightly apply 1 light coat of bulldog.. wait about 2 to 3 mins.. apply a 2nd light coat again...takes pratice because bulldog will RUN easily.. LIGHTLY!! AND I DO MEAN LIGHTLY!! 4. After the bulldog tacks up in normally about 45 seconds.. SPARY 1 light tack coat of Nason 421-24 primer.. you could use 2 coats of primer but normally you dont need too if you used Bulldog... Bulldog is just more peace of mind.. you dont have to do the bulldog step if you dont want too... But that bulldog stuff bites PLASTIC and STICKS! 5. Spary your Auto Air Base Coat Sealer 6. Paint your bait.. 7. Clear coat your bait with a Moisture Cure Urethene Clear Coat. Good luck hope I helped.. TOSS YOUR KRYLON IN THE TRASH CAN! -
John...just looking ahead with this post so your not upset later and I might just be assuming which is always a bad thing so please dont take this post the wrong way only trying to help if you hadnt thought about this already... dont just use Createx clear coat as your final clear.. it will not hold up.. .. however I know some guys that use it before they clear coat.. Actually I think Dean told me this once if I remember correct... Correct me if Im wrong Dino.. If your looking for some killer effects similiar to Glitter..you might look into getting some Gem Ruby or Gem Jade from Auto Air.. Same company that makes Createx. Good luck, The Rookie

Nice looking bait John.... I thought about making a gator bait too a while back just never got around to trying it out.. This same thought came to me after I was watching a program on Discovery talking about a white baby gator and how hard it would be to make it in the wild without it's natural camo colors.. Kinda funny how everyone wants fishing baits to look as natural to the live colors yet those natural colors are actually to help protect the prey in nature.. Go figure.. This is one of your best looking baits by far and all your work is outstanding. The Rookie.

Wipe your baits off with a Tack rag.. you can find them at most automotive supply stores that sell paint.. I like the Dupont Tack Rags personally.. I bought some cheaps ones from Walmart before and they are too tacky.

Lucky Craft American Shad Scale Stickers
MR KNOW IT ALL KIND OF replied to SIUBASSER's topic in Hard Baits
I dont think Lucky Craft Sells them anymore.. I use to have some and found them on Ebay 2 or 3 years ago.. I have a connection in Japan that might be able to get them but it will take a good 2 months before I can get them if he can get them for me... PM me your email address and I will you know if its possible or if I can find something else that would work for you. The Rookie -

I tell you what else hasn't been said.... " A man...GET's SOME WOOD..and the story begins.. he makes a outstanding lure just like this one and takes it fishing... he catches a fish.....he takes a picture to capture the momment in time that last until his wife burns the photo because she is sick and tried of all the pictures of fish in the closet... he eats the fish...the raw waste is releashed back into the earth a few days later or after a cup of coffee ...only to help fertlize a new tree in the woods.. in which a A new man.. GETS MORE WOOD... and the circle of life repeats upon itself..." So now you know what I mean when I SAY VINCE....That's one CRAPPY LURE!!!. The Rookie

MY SALES STINK just like everyone else due to this outstanding economy... But I just keep making baits in hopes that one day.. the economy will be so bad that nobody can buy food because we will not have any to buy... so guess what.. THEY WILL NEED FISHING LURES TO CATCH FISH SO they can eat.. Always lookin for the bright spot in this cold dark world.... -

MIX MIX MIX MIX MIX MIX MIX MIX.... then mix again... until it looks white not clear.. then take a hair dryer and heat up your lure before you spread the epoxy over the bait..it helps you spread it faster and thinner..THINNER is better NOT THICKER.. I dont use epoxy anymore but that is what I use to do when I did use it as a clearcoat..

For some reason I like to put yellow mustard in my mouth while using House of Kolor..... just deep random thoughts I do know what you mean about the clean up and how easy the paint sparys and how well it dries....but the smell of the paint effects my brain and ability to think clearly on the exact lure pattern specifcationistlisumness I need to properlymaterialize the exact mojo mynuteness needed to have my pet monkey paint correctly...SO I GIVE UP..this is a battle I started and will not win.. MORE RANDOM THOUGHTS "HIS GILLS IT's HIS GILL's MY BOY ROWHUNTER paint the BEST GILLS IN THE WORLD..I thought it was talent now I know all along it was the PAINT and reducer where's my air jordan's im going to shoot some basketball... ...the rookie quietly walks out of the forum room dejected in deep thoughts about the best available mustard on the market.... grey po pon.. or that yellow squeeze bottle brand I cant think of at this exact moment..... LATER DOUGLAS!!! The Rookie

KC... im just trying to get Douglas aka Rowhunter to chim in on this subject.. he loves HOK and I hate it! we have talked about it in the past on the phone.. I agree.. I do love how easy HOK sparys out of the gun... on that note it blows Auto Air out of the water but its the clean up and smell that I can live without.. Hope to get a HOK VS AUTO AIR BATTLE GOING so we all have some bathroom reading material... Just like the old DN vs EPOXY days!! I miss all those posts dont you. BRING IT ROWHUNTER!! BRING THE CHEESE BADGER BOY!!!

brand new with airbrush, lots of spattering
MR KNOW IT ALL KIND OF replied to jaycount's topic in Hard Baits
Take out the needle and push it back in really hard... See if that gets rid of the splatter.. sometimes the needle is not pushed all the way in and you will splatter you paint.. Next tip: Say you want to layer your paint and get rid of over spary.. Example... Black top.. white belly... GREY SIDES... Without ever using GREY PAINT! Spary it white the whole bait. Then spary the top black.. the overspary of the black will hit the shoulder of the bait.. then get out your white and spary the belly of the bait white... the over spary from the white will hit the side of the bait and layer your black and white and fade out your sides to a grey color because when you lightly mix black and white you get grey.. PAINT THIS PATTERN SEE IF IT HELP YOUR SPLATTER PROBLEMS.. 1. SPARY BAIT WHITE 2. SPARY TOP BLACK 3. BELLY WHITE... TOP BLACK AGAIN... WHITE BLACK.. keep layering your paint with light coats... 4. SIDES PEARL WHITE 5. TOP LIGHTLY PEARL WHITE 6. BELLY LIGHTLY PEARL WHTE 7. TOP BLACK 8. BELLY WHITE 9. LIGHTLY PEARL WHITE THE WHOLE BAIT!!.. basically by doing these steps your cleaning up your overspray and layering your paint.. the more you layer it the cleaner it will look.. dont know if Im right or wrong..but it works when I do it.. When your done you will have layered your paint and you will have a GREYISH SILVER LOOKIN NATURAL SHAD that should look clean and KILLER!! The Rookie. -
HOK... OVERATED.. TOXIC and THE CLEAN UP IS A PAIN! AUTO AIR.. BETTER COLOR's.. Better Depth.. and Clean up is EASY!! So easy a Caveman could do it! The Rookie
