  3. No DVD needed.. right here is the place to find the info your looking for.. JT (Blades) is the man on the best way to repaint a plastic bait so maybe he will chim in with more advice to those exact models. I personally have never paint those rebel baits before.. Here are my steps: Scuff the bait 400 grit sand paper.. You dont have to take off all the paint you just want to take off the old shine and put micro scratches on the plastic so you primer and paint will stick to it.. Wash the bait really good with soap and water Use rubber gloves to touch it and dry it off so you dont get your finger print oil on it. Get some bulldog adheasive primer promoter it bites the plastic. You can find it a most automotive paint supply stores. Prime and seal coat your bait. Paint your bait and make sure you dry or give it time to Flash off between coats. Clear coat it. Everyone here as an opinion about the best.. Epoxy, DN, Tractor Clear, etc... I prefer mositure cure clears.. they seem to hold better in the long run and dont turn yellow over time like most epoxies.. but some guys have success with epoxy so they will chim in too. DONT FISH IT FOR ABOUT 2 weeks.. Let the clear coat cure good for best results. When you get stuck ask more questions. Everyone is very helpful. Good Luck, The Rookie
  4. Thanks for the kind words guys... I have been busy lately..hope it keeps up. I havent been on TU in a while and miss the fun posts. Lots of new names here I have never seen before... 6. I was watching American Chopper other night and they were making a Gander Mountain bike.. anyway they used a mossy oak camo film for the tank etc.... it was a big sheet rolled out into water.. then they sparyed an hardener on it and dip the part in the water.. the mossy oak camo film was put on the tank in less than 5 sec... it was very very cool..... Anyone know what that stuff is call.. The Rookie
  7. As my boy Dr. Dave says.. if a fish can pull them out of resin... "I dont want to see that fish!"

  10. Paint your baits... one day! Let them sit for 2 or 3 days and dry out good or HEAT SET THE PAINT REALLY GOOD!!! THEN CLOSE YOUR EYES AND PRAY..... I MEAN SPRAY!!!! just kidding.. I sprayed 100 lures today no problems.. HECK.. I even combined some FINGER PAINT!!!! my Auto Air, Createx and Joe Molaski secret formula number #275 with some Crackle Bearel ma jig...paint.. I like to mix black and white to get a lighter shad of grey.. Just remember this.. oil and water doesnt mix.. unless you drive a CHEVY!!! Way to go 24!!! 47 RACES ITS ABOUT DANG TIME!!!... When you use Dupont products you can walk on water. Or paint on it if you like... Basically your good do go bud!! Just make sure your waterbase paint is dried out really good before you spary it.. and wipe off the dust with a tack rag.
  11. That's purdy neat Tim!! I like the idea.. do you have to weight the bait at all after you put them in.. just curious.. Cool Idea! Matt
  12. Looks great Throttle Junkie.. you did a very nice job! Super job for your first lure!!! your on your way. Welcome to the madness! The Rookie
  13. Pas. sometimes just moving your line tie the width of your finger nail makes a huge difference... Best thing to do is not glue the lip in.. and try a bunch of different styles of lip with different eye tie placements.. my experience in trial and error is this.. the closer you move your eye tie to the nose of the bait the bigger the wobble.. the closer you move you eye tie to the end of the lip the tighter the wobble.. but it will come to a point were it doesnt work.. Dave has a word for this but the solvents I have been working with all day are effecting my mind.. anyway.... their are tons of other factors that you could put in a equation to determine the solution..but math was never my thing...and you will learn a ton from your mistakes.. way more than if it works from the get go! Try this first.. Coffen lip Square lip Deep diving lip Use different eye tie placements on each... The fun part is when you have a design that doesnt work and you figure out how to make it work.. After you figure it out.. its really kinda boring and you want to go make something new so you have a challenge again.. But Dave is right if you show us a picture of the body of the lure you made.. then Im sure someone here will help you out..
  14. One of the biggest problems with DT2 is Hook rash..however if your sold on it.. you could always fix your rash with more DT2.. But their will come a point when you cant put anymore clearcoat on the bait. I would suggest DN or any moisture cure clearcoat.... just make sure you really heat set your baits or you will experience wrinkles in the paint. 19. I buy kid's paint brushes.. usually next to the coloring books at walmart or hobby lobby.. i get 144 brushes for 3.99.. I have no idea what that works out to per brush.. but I use them once and toss them. not worth the effort to clean the out. I also like the coloring books when I love to pass time with nothing else better to read in the bathroom.. The Rookie

  23. That looks like CRAP!! do you actually think someone will like it or the fish will eat it!!! YOU MAKE ME SICK VINCE!!! SICK!!!! GIVE ME MY MONKEY BACK DANG IT!!! that monkey has talent!!!!! and I behind with orders... .... you have had him long enough!!!.. Send me the monkey and the lure.. I dont want anyone to loose respect for your work and that lure needs to be thrown in the water just to make sure the fish dont like it!!!!It's going to be hard but I think Im just the guy to find out!!... Plus your too chicken to fish a bait as ugly as that one!!!! ok ok.. im done having my fun.... OUTSTANDING MY FRIEND!!! YOU KEEP ON TAKING IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL!!! Amazing.... Call me old timer!!! before your 7pm bedtime... The Rookie
  24. I carve most of my designs out of balsa first.. then get a general idea how they will work in the test tank.. if I see their is potential then I take it apart and mold it.. once its molded you can do lots more testing or trial and error.. plus you dont have to do all the carving work again.. if you screw up a molded part drilling holes etc.. you can just mold it again.. plus you will find you can get different action and different designs out of the same body style.. my newest swimbait I call the moonshiner.. I have made crankbaits out of it. topwater walk the dog baits.. 2 part swimbaits and 3 part and even 4.. so never get down if it fails from the beginning.. just keep messing with it.. Some of my best baits that I use alot now were duds when I first started... I went back to them later when I learned something new and fix the problem with simple line tie placement or weight.. Good Luck and I wish success with your new baits. The Rookie
