  1. Lookin good Patrick! Did you do the photo over foil yet? Ben (RAYBURN) was telling me about that other night on the phone.
  2. Its coming your way Mike. PONY EXPRESS!! just like I always ship.
  3. I didnt follow your directions exactly...but will this work? Who wants to test it?
  4. Rumor has it some guy is using cooking utensils to make this new hot rig. Hummm..I wonder what the State of Colorado might come up with! All of this is inside top secret stuff im taking about and I might get a call for the utensil making inventor shortly for even bring this to anyone attention. All im saying is a certain Walmart in the Georgia area is currently on back order and a few Cake bakers and TICKED OFF ABOUT IT...So much Walmart is limiting the sale of such utensils to 2 per customer!!! I just hope I get one shortly..but until then I guess I made this one for myself.
  5. You can troll a crankbait and catch those same suspended bass too...No wait sorry.. I forgot..trolling is not legal in bass fishing tournaments...What was I thinking... I rest my case on "THE ALABAMA RIG". Give the poor fish a break. What's next a down rigger on a rod.
  6. Nice fish A-MAC...nice looking umbrella rig too..Im not going to call it a Alabama Rig because well apparently some guy in Alabama Invented it. I will say one thing for sure.. THE NAME SUCKS..I mean man where in the heck did he come up with that name. I might start calling some of my new baits the Cabarraus County Crank! Hey Mr. Poss...maybe next time you invent something call Tater and ask him what to name it...He's got a BS Degree in Marketing from BSU (Ball State University). Personally I would have called it...The "DreamCatcher" Rig..kinda fits don't it The Rookie
  7. 3 and 4 pound spotted bass from Lake Norman. Really they were 4 and 5 pounders but if you fish Lake Norman..They you know a 4 pound spot is RARE!!! and nobody would be believe me if I told the truth so Im going to lie and say the were 3 and 4 pounders.. See even little fish eat swimbaits.

  8. This bait was brand new at the time..I should show a picture of it now.. I made it last Jan and it is so beat up from 20 or so tournaments and all the days practicing for them I dont think I can even repaint it and fix it. Their is a ditch in the belly of this bait deeper than the B.S...I write in my ebay listings....I wish it was only hook rash but its way beyond a rash now..I think I could cure my toefungus before I could make this bait look brand new again...but it's still catching fish so way bother.

  10. Did you use finger paint...im just asking since you paint them by hand....Sorry I had to say it...I just could not resist...you gave me a alley oop! Nice looking bait bud...The rookie was only kidding.
  11. I got about 300 to 400 of those Griffon knockoffs..I had about 1,000. I got them to hand out to kids at lure shows but not doing any shows this year and I would love to get them out of the garage. If your interested in those PM me.. I will sell them too you cheaper than anyone else. But that is all I have..im not in the business of selling blanks..thanks. The Rookie
  12. I purchased one of the originals from Andy back in Aug and the lure body of the rig in front never sits upright in the water on every cast..sometimes it is upsidedown on retrive sometimes it is on its side and sometimes it is rightside up.. but none of that really matters. That bait body just holds the wires together..once you pull your baits on retrieve all the baits run correctly and turn upright because of the swivals. side up.. but none of that really matters. That bait body just holds the wires together..once you pull your baits on retrieve all the baits run correctly and turn upright because of the swivals.
  13. KENTUCKY MY A$$ that's a HOOSIER RIG if I ever saw one. Use a skoal can then you got yourself a Kentucky Rig.
  14. Sonny...take your needle out and push it back in harder if you can..sometimes that will fix your spitting problem. If that doesnt work.. THROW THAT JUNK IN THE TRASH AND BUY YOURSELF A GOOD GUN! Then make sure you clean it out good after you use it. A happy gun is a clean gun. Your spitting problem is not your paint. Its your GUN
  15. Very funny LaPala!! Enjoyed the video Now I wonder if it is legal to tie 4 Umbrella rigs with 5 swimbaits on that kind of rod and fish it at the next FLW Tournament in Alabama...that would be 20 baits casted on one rod! I guess it would be legal cause Im only using 1 rod and 1 line...GIVE ME A BREAK!
  16. my experience with matte finishes is.. it looks just like a shinny normal clear coat bait under the water. Doesnt make a darn bit of difference. Once you put it under water its has a natural clear coat we all like to call H2O.
  17. OK IM ABOUT TO GO OFF!!!! The guy that came up with the quote " my baits catch fish not fisherman" should be in politics. Cause basically all he is saying is...." I CAN'T MASTER a BAIT WORTH A CRAP SO HOW AM I GOING TO SELL IT SO I CAN COMPETE WITH Guys THAT CAN DO GOOD WORK!!!! Wait.....Wait.....I know... I will tell everyone that my baits might look like crap but they catch fish and all the better quality baits...made by better quality builders...well they look great but don't catch fish because they look too good so they had to be made for just the fisherman! I have heard alot of BULL SH_T! in my day and what cracks me up the most is alot people believe it. Give me a freakin break! If color or looks don't matter than why the hell are all you guys here making custom baits! BUNCH OF SELLOUTS EVEN HAVING THIS TOPIC go to walmart and buy your fishing baits from CHINA!!! THEY ARE THE BEST DAM UGLY BAITS MAKERS YOU WILL EVER SEE!!! If your a crap bait maker.. than deep down I know you listen to your little voice inside that tells you!!! "GOD I SUCK! HOW AM I GOING TO SELL THIS JUNK IM MAKING!!! yep, you know what Im taking about.. Here's a new concept..."EVEN UGLY GUYS GET LUCKY WITH DRUNK HOGS BUT DAM GOOD LOOKING BAITS CATCH FISHERMAN AND SMOKIN HOT TROPHY QUEENS" TATER IS O.....U.....T....OUT! ....honey have you seen my deposit slips I need to go take this money to da bank!" HUGS AND KISSES XOXOXOOXOX THE ROOKIE
  18. What if your just newly gay and not a expert? Do their opinions matter?
  19. http://www.amazon.com/ASTRO-HVLP-EVO-T-SPRAY-GUN/dp/B000N2TKVA I use this kind of gun Patrick. You can use a airbrush but its a pain to clean out the auto clear with lacquer thinner after your done because it can dry fast inside a small gun like a airbrush.. and you can screw up your airbrush over time. My airbrushes are for painting and my Auto Astro Gun is for clearing... I wait until I have about 30 to 50 lures ready to clear before I spary it. For my foil baits I have to put a coat of Bob Smith Epoxy over it before I can clear coat it. If you use Auto Clear make sure you have protection for your lungs face and body. I have a full body Dupont painting suit and a outside airflow full shield mask over my face. When its 98 degrees outside you will loose 10 pounds clear coating all day long. Don't fish your lures for 4 to 6 weeks. The longer you wait the better. Main reason why my shipping time has always took so long... I hold the stuff for weeks before I ever ship it.. just to be safe. Hope this helps.. Tips: 1. Spary 1 tack coat very light... no gloss... wait 10 or 15 mins.. usually by the time you get number 50 done you can go back to the first one you painted and spary the 2 gloss coat. That tack coat will hold your 2 gloss coat in place and you will get less runs in your clear. Best Auto Clear Coat I ever used was Por 15 INC Glisten PC...Dries to touch in 20 mins but you can't glue lips in or really handle the baits for 4 to 5 days. The stuff is tuff as nails. But I dont care what clear you use...IT WILL NOT STOP HOOK RASH!!!!!! If anyone wants to tell me any different send me one of your baits and I will take some of my QUAD HOOKS I use on my swimbaits and go back and forth 10,000 times with the sharp hook to see if I can leave a mark...If I can't mark it I will send you 100 bucks! Good Luck bud... keep up the good work.
  20. Nice job rookie.... Now listen up! For once im going to give some critical advice...rather than the norm of GREAT JOB SKIPPY!!! You want to make your Socal surfish or what ever you call that bait your trying to match look even better.....dont make your spots look that round or like perfect circles... go back and look at the detail of the spots...they are oval spots on the real thing. Make your spots match those spots..and your SPOT ON! Sorry for being pushy...critical of your work...it looks darn good for your first time... but most guys that post pictures normally want to hear.. hey thats great or THAT A BOY!!! but you want to improve right.....if your a real artist your looking for perfection and helpful advice.. why else would you have posted pictures in a threat....so im trying to give you some. Fix your spots and you will really WOW THEM! The difference between good and great is always details. Does it make a difference when you go fishing..probably not... but it sure makes you think it does! The Rookie
  21. If you want to catch more fish apply 1 coat....bait will have better action. If you want it to last forever don't use devcon 2 ton epoxy.
  22. Ok im going to sort of steal a famous line from "Finding Nemo" Just keep painting... just keep painting....just kee painting..... First keep your psi up high! That helps you layer it.... Layer you paint.. and thin it if its splattering.. move your gun away from the bait and DUST THE PAINT ON IT! dont get it too close and turn up that air pressure...you can spary good paint at 15 to 18 psi... you can make purdy cakes at that rate..but not baits. I SPARY MY BAITS AT 60 PSI. And my gun is about 12 inches from the bait when Im laying base coats.. I turn it down to 35 to 40 for detail work. But you will learn your own style.....You just have to keep at it.....so..........JUST KEEP PAINTING...JUST KEEP PAINTING......GOOD LUCK DIPSTICK! Hope this helps. The Rookie
  23. Add more weight to the belly.... then move your eye tie on the nose down close to the lip and under the throat of the bait..that is where I would start first. If that still makes it blow out! Which is what I call it.... Move it back up more on the nose of the bait.. But by looking at your bait I think you need to move your line tie placement down and add weight to the belly of your bait to help the balance. Sometimes is just trial and error.. hopefully Im correct..but I have been wrong before. The Rookie

I love them Big Pancho! Did you make the mold yourself or is that a standard paddle tail design you can buy. Very cool detail all around.
  25. So you guys don't use the clear paint they sell to clear coat your paint job. I assume you mean your dipping them in the hot clear plastic. (Same stuff you used to pour your soft plastic bait correct) Sorry if that is a stupid question but I just want to be sure... My question is won't that melt the cured bait some and you loose your detail?
