Bassfanpa, I got a cordell on ebay i did... put a baby bass pattern on it.. its selling right now.. I put 3D lucky craft eyes on it and really tricked it out.. go to ebay and check it out ..the listing is funny too.. I would make a very big lure.. like those GAINT RAPALA LURES!! and put a family tree on it.. Dont know if that will help with your cause or not.. but it would sure look cool.. Yeah I agree with BOB!!! The only thing I use dixie cups for.. well the only two things I use dixie cups for.. wait.. well the only three things I use dixie cups for is.. 1. Spitting my skoal in them 2. Washing out my mouth after I brush my teeth to clean the skoal out 3. Putting epoxy in them so I can mix it up and clear coat a lure. I cant think of anymore uses for a Dixie cup! HEY THIS COULD BE A POST!!! NAME ALL THE USES OF A DIXIE CUP!!! SEE HOW MANY WE CAN COME UP WITH!!! Bob your a senior here.. you start it.. Yeah I agree with RJ.. But I am still the rookie..Why are you thinning it.. am I missing out on something to save me time in the future.. Has anyone ever tried to thin it so much you could just dip the lures.. would be cool if that was possible.. then I would see the advantage of thinning it.. Skeet.. I could be wrong I have been before but.. I thought the brass wire on a bagleys were a collectors sign or a way to date the bait.. Bagleys are more of a collectors thing on ebay.. yes some guys buy them to fish.. but I sell alot of stuff on ebay and the brass wire bagley is worth more money than ones with out one.. As far as the hunting thing goes.. very interesting stuff.. I think I know know why I dont catch fish now.. I am always buying the ones that dont hunt if its the luck of the draw!! The Rookie

Well I 2nd everyones thoughts here Cause I dont have a clue about lure making.. I am just a painter... wish I could make them.. But.. I did mess up a lucky craft pointer.. Lip broke on me when I tried a new stripper to take paint off.. wasnt good... I cried for a few mins..ok maybe I cried for a few days.. then I remember my HERO FROM PBS!!! YOU KNOW HIM THAT CRAZY WHITE BOY WITH A AFRO!! BOB ROSS!! He always said their are no mistakes only happy accidents.. So The_Rookie took a broken Lucky craft and a Titan Lip from a team daiwa crankbait.. Basically I put a HUGH CRANKBAIT LIP that dives 25 feet and put it on a Jerkbait.. I didnt measure just dremeled and glued.. Didnt think about vortex or whatever all those big words yall are saying.. I just used Marine Epoxy..Dries Grey takes about 5 hours to harden.. Put three coats on it.. and too it too my neighbors pool without permission.. GUESS WHAT HAPPEN!! IT RAN TRUE AND SINKS LIKE NOBODY'S BUSINESS... But its the most unquie looking bait I have ever seen and is priceless to me best feeling I have had in years.. It doesnt float because of the heavy lip on the front but baby it goes deep and Runs straight.. So like my boy BOB says no mistakes only happy accident... The Rookie has a custom Lucky Craft Team Daiwa that T.HOG will paint!! Going to call it a CountDown Jerkcrank!!! I will fish this baby in 60 feet water and catch some Tater Hog Stripper this summer with it... Wait and see....As for science I will leave that to you experts.. Like most guys I dont read the directions.. JUST GLUE AND PRAY!! I hated science class anyway..

Apprently Mr. Master of Paint is a man of few words.. But I think I understand what he is saying and the master is a fan of my work Tally! Cause I believe I used the 8 step 5 hours of care line before.... Maybe I should have patent or trademarked the line so Blades couldnt say it LOL..I dont know if he is makin fun of me or was trying to help.. Either way I will take it as a helpful reply! Im still a rookie.. Maybe one day I will sell something on ebay and make a few bucks!!

I would call it a Circumcisied Jig Head!! Mushroom Jig Head is dumb name anyway!!!! It looks more like a Circumcisied head when you think abou it!!! But what the heck do I know! Thanks for info guys!! Out of 75 lures I only had two peel! Just wanted to make sure I was doing it right... I was trying to find a way around sanding the lure because it hurts the look of it! Sometimes I sand off the built in scales on the plastic! Maybe I am sanding it too much!

I believe the guy that is that worried about a crankbait doing a cartwheel needs a life!!! I have fished for over 20 years! And I never thought about how the bait was flying in the air! Throwing a baitcaster is a skill... Some got it ...some dont...Best way to get it is to keep on casting... You guys are getting deep now!!! You want to throw you bait a long way!!! Here is a tip!! USE LIGHT LINE!!! Problem with most fisherman I see is they use to strong of line!! Thinkin there going to catch 40 pound fish..HOW MANY FISHERMAN!! RAISE YOUR HAND!! USE 20 pound line!!! and catch 1 to 2 pound fish!!! 95 percent of the time!!! I use 4 pound line and cast megabass and lucky craft lures! Some of the most expensive factory lures on the market.. Most call me crazy! But I have yet to break my line on a big fish! If you want to go farther and deeper with your cranks use light line! I promise you will catch more and bigger fish! Cartwheel!! THEIR's NO CARTWHEELING IN FISHIN!! This is not Gymnastics!

Cheap my butt!!! You know how many sandwiches I will have to make before my Mayo is gone!!! Thats alot of bread ham and cheese!! Plus I already got high Colerestrol..So after I eat all those sandwiches then I will have to go to the Doctor! and my co pay is 20 percent!! Anyone want to share the steps they use to do a factory bait! I had a problem last week!! Bait peeled on me so now I am worried I have done something wrong earlier in the process! It might just be a bad mix of epoxy or the base coat! Either way I was talkin with Talley a Senior Member and he thought this would be a good thing to post! So we are lookin for..Step by Step ways to paint a factory crankbait.. EXAMPLE! 1. Sand the lure 2. Wipe with Alcohol 3. Shoot with Base coat sealer 4. Paint the darn lure 5. Epoxy it 6. Fish it and pray it catches fish!! I am talking Factory LURES ONLY!! I just want to make sure it was a mixing issue and not something stupid I should be doing! Thanks guys! The_Rookie

Mike.. Same problem... Make sure you let the bait sit for days at room temp before you fish them... Like 5 to 7 days.... I have found they work better doing that... See if that helps. The Rookie

I mix them all the time... BUT!!!! I NEVER REMEMBER HOW I GOT TO THAT COLOR!!! SO I JUST save a little bit... and try to rematch it later when I need more....WAY MORE FUN THAT WAY!!! PLUS AFTER YOU SPEND A FEW HOURS DUMPING IN SOME BLACK THEN SOME WHITE THEN A LITTLE OF THIS AND A LITTLE OF THAT... Once you get it!!! Your so excited...Makes you feel like you did something... Or you could just write it down the first time and keep it saved in your computer... But thats no fun!! The Rookie

Bob I can only do one lure per 5 min mix.. Dont like the 5 min stuff.. I think that is my problem.... going back to the 30 min stuff...Thanks man!!!

Hey guys I know their are 100 post on this subject but I havent found one about Permatex Permaoxy I think its same thing as decvon 2 ton.. I just went fishing today.. And one of my lures bubbled up after I caught a fish.. The epoxy just peeled right off the bait.. Never has happened to me before.. Was it me!! THE EPOXY I USED!! BAD MIX!!! BAD COVERAGE on the LURE!!! DIDNT WAIT LONG ENOUGH TO CURE!! (waited 24 hours then when fishing with it) Use wrong type 5 min cure.. Think maybe I should have used the 30 min... WHERE DO YOU ALL GET DECVON 2 TON!!! I look it up and only find Permatex... at Walmart Auto Zone etc.. Permatex is same company as Decvon I think... WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK IS THE BEST CLEAR COAT HANDS DOWN!!! FROM SAFTEY!!! CANCER WARNING SCARE ME!! DURIBILITY!! DONT WANT IT TO MESS UP AFTER ONE DAY OF CASTING!!! Ease of use!! Epoxy is a pain in the butt to put on the lure.. Plus it sticks to my contacts at night after I take them out!!! What you guys think!!!
