  1. It's not how deep you fish or how fast your boat goes!! Its how you wiggle your worm. T.Hog
  2. Skeeter, Just use a cane pole..Its works great and your never have to fix it...
  3. Dont get down.. If your artist you need to be a fisherman.. The more you fish the better your work will be.. Dont know if you fish my guess is you do..LOL.. But I am a fisherman first..Sports nut 2nd..Junkie food junkie, Skoal dipping.. Loving on my wife.. playing with my kids...watching espn..fool...Art is about 1,000 on my list... I guess what I am saying is.. I fish so much I know what the colors should looks like by the bait in the water.. if you want your fish to look real!!! PAINT THEM REAL!! Has anyone ever seen a pink minnow.. I sure as heck havent... Stick to natural colors.. make the lure look like a fish.. Somes simply but hard to do.. Sometimes I paint on the same lure for 5 hours.. Just to get the look I want..If you got skills you will be fine.. I picked up a airbrush for the first time in my life last month and now I am selling lures and making 500 bucks per week.. I have sold some lures for over 120 bucks per lure..I am getting orders from as far as Scotland... Keep up the faith buddy you will make it.. The Rookie
  4. ONLY KIDDING!!! I LIKE IT ALOT DWELLER!! NICE JOB!!
  5. Sucks.. Looks like a fishing lure!! LOL
  6. Tally, Thanks for the post in my thread... Anything you say I am sure will help me out... I have a long way to go... What did you mean by flash... I only use C-tex because of the guy at the hobby store and he told me it was premixed.. I paid 365 for my airbrush and compressor and I didnt want to mess it up... Is their a better paint to try I am open and willing to learn... PLEASE TEACH ME YOUR WAYS OLD WISE ONE!!!! THE_ROOKIE Needs a mentor!!! Actually Tally I need a life all I do is eat sleep and fish.. Now all I do is Eat Fish and read TU and try and teach myself how to use a airbrush... Are you saying I need to put on the paint thicker.. or smaller amounts then dry with hair dryer.. then another small coat then dry with hair dryer.. until its is thick on the bait...is that what you mean by flash... Some of the paints come with sparkles that give the flash and some are just basic colors with no flash at all I think... I could be wrong with what I am saying... If I sound really stupid right now.... well i am because i didnt even know a airbrush used a compressor until MONDAY!!! I thought you just took a old bicycle pump and cranked up and down until the paint come out of it... LOL!!!!! I was wondering how you guys did it... I thought I might lose some weight with this hobby now I know!!!!
  7. Todd, I am cracking up... I just sent you a private message about Norman Before I read Benny's post.. Then I went back and read his post and he said about the same thing I said... WOW...Sorry for the same info.. But I did say something about the hot hole and the KEY IS FLUKES!!! But I wouldnt waste my time at it during a tournament... Unless you havent caught a dam thing and you dont want to come in with no fish at all..... But you will not win it fishing the Hot hole... You will catch fish their but 2 pounders are RARE at hot hole... And 2 pd fish will win the thing...Lake Norma fish are smaller than most in the south because of that same power planet. Bait fish problem... Water lacks nutritions needed for big fish to get big.. I have read alot of stuff on the net about Norman...But I love the lake.. Its my 2nd home.
  8. Grew up in Greenfield In... Grad from Ball State...Man I am telling you... Once you move south you never want to go back... I love Indiana and the people.... I just hate the weather... I am ticked off when it gets below 50 here because I complain how cold I am... You can fish year round here.. The Summers are hot as hell and I do miss those Indiana summers...The water on my home lake is 104 degrees in JULY... Power Planet Lake. DUKE POWER.. THE FISH GO DEEP!!! You might find some 92 or 93 Degree water if you get away from the planet but the water gets hot.. Today I fished in 75 degree water and it was 33 this morning when I got to the lake. I was so cold I almost jumped in....
  9. Well guys!!! I had to bare the cold here in North Carolina Today for all you Yanks up North... It was Sunny and 50 today I bet ya'll would have just wore a T-shirt and flip flops... But when I got on the lake it was 33 Degrees... So I had my Sportcat heater in my boat running most of the day... Those things work great...Yall should try them out up in the cold weather states... Wait that is right you cant fish in the winter unless your bring a chain saw... I am so glad I left Indiana. Anyway...I out fished my buddy 7 to 3 in about 4 hours of fishing.... All Largemouth bass!! All on that little small Green and yellow baby bass lure I made this week with help from yall... Bye the way my buddy was using a Lucky Craft lure about the same color pattern and my lure out fished the MIGHT LUCKY CRAFT BAITS!!!!! I never switched my bait one time today. Until the end to make sure that other Brown Crawfish pattern bait I posted floated and ran true when I trolled it... 10 mins later I laided another bass from about 30 feet down... Might of been dumb luck but it makes you feel good when those fish hit your paint scheme. Good luck guys!!! I am off to create more lures and yall are right this is very addictive. I am HOOKED FOR LIFE NOW!!! BTW...I used Permatex Permaoxy 30 min General Purpose. I mixed a very small amount just enough to do my two baits that I painted. It workd out great. I am going to post another thread about it. I did have some hook marks from trolling that small bait but I think I used to big of hooks on it so that can be fixed. But I get those marks on all my baits that I purchase retail. The_ROOKIE "Life is what happens while your making other plans."
  10. I picked up a airbrush for the first time on Monday! Asked Tackleunderground a few questions and was on my way!!!! You all are the best!! Thanks for helping me out and not making me feel like a idiot. Only took me 10 hours to paint these two lures. Hope I can get two more done in 5 next time. Now I am on my way... They might be ugly but I know my mom will fish with them with pride!!!! If you all want me to repeat that brown crawfish pattern... Good luck!!! I have no clue how to repeat that pattern.. I just made the paint run by mistake and ran with it. Like I always say.." Life is what happens while your making other plans." I wouldnt sell these two lures for 50 bucks... But 51 and I might think about it. THE_ROOKIE!!!!!
  11. Dweller, I am a Rookie just like you and I just laid down some serious cash on a Iwata Eclipse Airbrush and a Iwata Silver Jet Compressor. I spent about 365 bucks total...Heck for all I know I got screwed. I dont have a clue what type or # of the needle I got that it came with. All I know is I control the pressure gauge on the compressor and the less the pressure the less paint that comes out and it helps with draw back after I switch colors. I have no idea if this is what your talking about but I thought I might give me 2 cents for what its worth. I just picked up airbrush for the first time two days ago! But I did sleep in a Holiday INN LAST NIGHT!!!! And I use Createx paint. The guy at Hobby Lobby told me to since it is already premix with thinner. The Rookie
  12. Thanks guys for your help! At least I know I am using the right kind of paint to start with. Have any of you guys tried this C-Tex Gloss top coat. Could that work in place of the Epoxy coat. Here are a few more basic stuff I wanted to know. 1. Do I have to use that airbrush cleaner that C-Tex sales or could I just use water to clean out my airbrush gun. Or Finger nail polish remover or any other household item. 2. How thick do you guys put on the epoxy Decavon 2 stuff your talking about. And this might be a very dumb question but your dont put the epoxy in your airbrush. I assume you brush it by hand or dip the lure in it. Any advice on how to apply the epoxy would be helpful too!!! Thanks to everyone that has replied so far..I will keep you all posted on my journey to frustration and losted money. It was this or play more online poker. I believe I will lose money slower doing this than cards.!!! The_ROOKIE "Life is what happens while your making other plans!"
  13. Hello all. I need some help with painting some of my old crankbaits. I just got a airbrush this weekend and the hobby store guy told me to use Createx paint that was already mixed with paint thinner so my airbrush will not get gummed up. I been playing around with it and painted a basic white choat on a few lures. After they dried at room temp for 24 hours. I could take my finger nail and scrach the paint right off. I dont think this is good. I havent used a epoxy clear coat yet but dont know if that will help my problem or not. This might be stupid question I am no paint expert but does the epoxy clear coat protect the paint finish or will it still scrach off even after I put a coat of epoxy on it since it does without a clear coat finish. I need step by step help with painting my lures. Thanks guys! THE_Rookie
