Take a hobby knife to the Shad Rap lip.. you can cut it out if your careful.. then replace it with a circut board lip... I have don't it before.. if you get your hobby knife through the rapala glue the lip will come out.. epoxy a new lip in and go fishing. Good Luck The Rookie

CAN I SAY PAINT JOB YET? ITS BEEN 2 DAYS! GOOD ONE JOHN.. that cracked me up! I vote for vibration in the rod.. just my opinion. But I like to feel my bait hit stuff and good vibs help you feel it when you fish. All of the stuff everyone is posting makes alot of sense. But in general I think just keeping it simple is the best. BAIT SHAKE 101 JUST A TIP FOR NEW GUYS THAT ARE JUST STARTING.. THIS IS SOMETHING I HAVE LEARNED BY MAKING BAITS.. MOST CRANKBAITS CLOSER YOUR EYE TIE IS TOWARDS THE NOSE OF THE BAIT THE BIGGER THE WOBBLE FARTHER AWAY FROM THE NOSE OF THE BAIT ...LESS WOBBLE or TIGHTER ACTION... TOO CLOSE sometimes will cause a BLOW OUT... TO FAR will cause NO ACTION... FINDING THE SWEET SPOT!!! TRIAL AND ERROR. The Lip angle effects this too... so take that into consideration..... To me make the bait work is the most enjoyable part of the design process.. trying to get it too swim.. once you do it.. it's kinda no fun anymore...and you want to move on to a new design. Just my A.D.D personality I guess. ALL BAITS CATCH FISH... YOU JUST CATCH THE MOST FISH ON THE ONES YOU USE THE MOST! AND WITH A PURDY PAINT JOB YOUR GOING USE IT LONGER ALOT LONGER.. TRY THIS!!!! see if it helps.. SHAKE UP YOUR RESIN REAL GOOD BEFORE YOU POUR YOUR 2 CUPS OUT POUR OUT CUP A POUR OUT CUP B GO INSIDE YOUR HOUSE IF YOUR DOING THIS IN YOUR GARAGE... and WATCH TV FOR 20 to 30 mins... LET YOUR CUPS WITH THE RESIN SIT IN OPEN AIR! You live in FL so HUMDITY IS YOUR FRIEND....sometimes it can be too HOT!!! But you might only need to wait 15 mins..that is trial and error brother.. Ok now that your done watching sportscenter... Now add your Microballons to each cup 50/50 mix like husky said.. or maybe try 45/55... or even 40/60.. The more Micro you add the lighter it gets but the weaker it gets too!! BUT if you let your cups air out for 20 to 30 mins.. I PROMISE YOUR STUFF WILL EXPAND LIKE CRAZY AND BE LIGHTER!! YOU WILL GET A BIG MUSHROOM FROM THE POUR HOLE!! and your bait should be lighter! GOOD LUCK HOPE THIS HELPS.

I haven't used that stuff in sometime but when I did I brushed it on and used a fresh air supply mask along with a protection suit and rubber gloves. You made a great point about saftey. So don't use this stuff unless you got the right protection and place to do it. I haven't used it in sometime.. The dry time takes too long!!! Plus, It doesn't work on foiled baits unless you undercoat them with epoxy first....I just thought it was interesting when that other guy posted a POR15 product.. Most guys don't know about it! Never tried the spary can stuff so I might just be talking out of my butt as usual..the other guy might be on to something better and it does seem like it would be a whole lot easier to just spary and go!!! It wouldn't be the first time I put my foot in my mouth! The Rookie

GLISTEN PC is a High Gloss, Rock Hard, Water-clear topcoat designed for spray or brush application over all metal surfaces, including highly polished aluminum and chrome surfaces. GLISTEN PC will not leave brushmarks, and will dry in less than one hour, but will take 3-4 days to reach maximum hardness. When GLISTEN PC is first dry to the touch, it will appear to be very soft. Avoid touching it for several days until it becomes hard and tough. Accidental contact could damage the surface before full cure has taken place. Like many other coatings, GLISTEN PC is a MOISTURE-CURED coating, which means it is strengthened by exposure to moisture. It will never crack, chip, peel, or yellow, and is very flexible as well.

A HAPPY GUN IS A CLEAN ONE! make sure your tips are clean...left over paint tends to stick to the needle and sometimes that screws up your dots.. I take off my end protector to get close to the bait then slowly move it out while making quick light taps and slowly pulling back with my finger at 40 to 45 psi with transparent paint thickness. BUT THE FIRE WORKS THING HAPPENS TO US ALL!!! do what I do.... if you get the fire works splatter.. just make your DOTs BIGGGER and fix it!!!It's your world as my main man BOBBY ROSS SAYS!!! IF YOU really screw it up.. MAKE A TON OF DOTS ON THE BAIT and call it a TROUT! Remember the 4 P's OF KILLER AIRBRUSH PAINTING.. PATIENCE, PRACTICE, PRESSURE and think hard MARY JANE and you will figure out number 4!
