Ok ... Newbie Question. What's the difference in the Plastics formulas. For Example ....... What is the difference between the Lurecraft #500 502 and 536
What are each good for and what do ou guys use the most ?
Thanks in advance
Rick
I've never had the problem but I think I would put some in a small coffee grinder and use that to break it up alittle then put it in a fluid bed in a dry area for awhile ........ that should take the moisture out ........ I'd be very careful about drying with heat ...... remember this stuff is just a dry paint that melts into liquid paint with heat ....... a low heat may take a long time and just a little too much could cause a real mess ........
Just a thought
No ..... this is not Mylar ...... this is thicker than mylar and since it is already in a soft plastic lure, it doesn't shrivel .........
Wow ......... guess this is something even you guys haven't seen ........ now I am REALLY interested .........
Check Badger Garage Sale ......... they have a bunch onsale ...... I got a great deal on 3 of them the last time around ....... mine were cheaper than used ......
SOTAR is advertsed as drawing the finest detail in the marketplace ......... and you can get it on EBAY ........ auctions around $100 or buy it now around $250 ...... retail $400
Can you tell me what they call it ........ everytime I look I only see tape with a backing. THis stuff is like a piece of plastic film (best way I can think od to describe it) that is flexible and reflects from both sides ...... it's ideal for putting in the center of a soft plastic bait to reflect light like a real fish ........
A couple of weeks ago, I went to a fishing flea market that happens once a year. There was a guy selling some soft plastic 9 inch mullet swimbaits that had a holographic film in the center that gave off a nice silvery type of changing color. I'm trying to find a source for that holographic paper/film. Anybody know of a source?
First, the SOTARS sold for $100 at the Garage Sale ....... I bought 2 of them
Second, the 100G is on sale now on the garage sale and that is supposed to give the fine lines ......... $30 plus shipping.
You don't need a heat gun to heat the jigs ...... you can do it in the oven and then dip them ...... let them cool a little ant then back in the oven to cure.
The base coat paint problem is probably because you are using to much paint ...... either fluff a little before you dip and dip fast and tap off any excess or use a flow bed with a quick dip .....
get a rotiserre oven ....... I have one and they are the only ones high enough to accommodate a large spire point like that ........ make sure it has a rack with a top support of you will have to make one ........
go to the Badger Garage Sale and buy a Model 360 ....... you won't be sorry ........ it can be used as a gravity feed or a siphon feed...... $30..... everybody that I know that has 1 is very happy with them .......
Just remember that you will also need an air source and a hose .........
If you need a compressor, they have them on sale too ...........
A guy named Dino is in charge of the garage sale ...... he might be able to help you ......
Can I assume the one with my order yesterday was 1 of the 10?
Thanks for taking the time to talk yesterday ......... can't wait to get the skirts ........
Rick
This head is the favorite used in the Chesapeake Bay for light tackle jigging ....... especially at the Bay Bridge Tunnel in the winter. They work great and hold the plastic well. Although if you are concerned you can always put a drop of zap or superglue on it and it will never come off ........ try Brad and sons tackle on ebay ........ good product great prices ...... http://stores.#########/Brad-and-Sons-Tackle_Unpainted-Jigs-and-Lures_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ3022467QQftidZ2QQtZkm
Badger Garage Sale just listed their demonstrator compressors for sale .......... I got some GREAT deals .......... with this one ..... ya snooze ya loose .........
We use those lures as jigs on the Chesapeake Bay for stripers all of the time ........ most guys change out the trebles for single hooks though ....... they catch many a fish
It talks about changing when heated but I don't see any info on the temps required to make a change .......... the water I usually fish probably varies less than 20 degrees ......... if it is very temp sensitive then I would be interested because we troll for hours so time to change is not a factor .....
