  3. If your sawing lead be careful as lead dust is a very bad for you.Use an Electricians cable cutter works like a charm.
  4. Reducer because water breaks down the adhesive properties of acrylic paint.
  5. I clean mine over a bucket and do yourself a favor and get the airbrush cleaning kit it has all the brushes and pins for cleaning your airbrush the right way.
  6. 15k will get you a machine but if your not experienced in this field you probably won't be getting the right machine for your application.Do a search for spindle turning machines or ballusters their is a german one i forget the name that would kick some serious butt making plugs.
  7. Vodkaman your way off if you use a mill turn cnc you can do the body and all holes even machine all around in one shot.As for digitizing you can use a laser digitizer or even just take a picture of the lure and use a vector graphics program to create the geometry for the outline. Many ways you can skin this cat.Problem here is that a good mill turn machine will cost you around 1/4 million and instead of making lures there is more money to be had useing this machine or for the most part any other cnc doing more profitable work. There are other mavhines which i have not mentioned that are way cheaper btw it would take a few pages to realy explain though.Just so you guys know i've been a machinist for over 30 years and i'm a manufacturing engineer so all i do now is tool design and program cnc's from 2 to 8 axis from sewing machine parts to the shuttle and you name it i can make it.
  8. I won't recomend a machine but if you get the correct cnc you are talking thousands of plugs per month. If you just need to makes 300 or so a month a good duplicator and lathe will do at least for the types of lures i build. One other point cnc"s are not cheap.
  9. Just go to an art supply and buy an artist color wheel.
  10. In your fixed post version if you swap out the two pins and use a vertical V-BLOCK you could use a wider variety of lips.
  11. Here is one that i made and use.Got the motot from radioshack for 2.00$.
  12. I make and have made the toolholders for the vega and other duplicators and Birdy i use indexable carbide inserts no need to sharpen last a couple off hundred plugs and replace with another just a turn of the screw no sodering or resharpening.
  13. Just because you don't see water in the trap does not mean their is none.As for it not being a problem with water based paint wrong if you get moisture blowing when using the airbrush you will be the first to see how it ruins your paint job. When you compress air you always get condensation so unless you have special equiptment (air dryer) there is always some water in the line and in the compresor .
  14. Practice and time and you will get it their is no shorcut to gaining experience. You can play with the air pressure also.
  15. That thing is like $1800.00 i think its a knockoff of another one iforget what its called.Look it up on google maybe you can save some bling and get something better.
  16. For what he is doing that won't be neccessary kerosene makes a good cutting fluid for aluminium just use an acid brush dip it and dab it on the tool. You only need to do that if your doing alot of cutting.
  17. Yes specially the carbide tip ones.I think the ones your looking for are called box core bits.
  18. You can use a router bit the round ones use a drill press and make sure that you secure the mold down to the table correctly and use a slower rpm and don't push to hard on it.Also set some kind of a stop for the depth if you can.
